This is a known bug that is being investigated. Less than %1 of the userbase is being affected so gathering bug data is taking time.

The best workaround at this point is if you are experiencing a series of failures, either close the tab and go back to the SR login page or simply refresh your current session. This does not resolve it %100, but it definitely helps.

On a side note, the captcha is not case sensitive but all the letters presented are in caps. I always use upper case but it isn't needed for a successful login.

Despite my attempts, I haven't been able to repro the issue on the main site or the vendor URL. I will keep testing  to make sure I am not just getting lucky, but for now it wont be added as a bug.

I've seen some people saying they are having issues with the CAPTCHA so I went through and logged in/out with three of my test accounts. The results are as follows:

Maybe I can offer a few tips. I always use all caps despite it not being case sensitive. Try not to sit at the login page for too long. If it has been over ~5 minutes, refresh the page for a new CAPTCHA. There are no numbers only letters so some may be confusing a "O" for a "0". K and X can be tricky and are used quite often in my experience. Take time to notice the subtle difference.

While not yet implemented, the history of an account's transactions allows vendors to see a buyer's statistics. This will allow for them to decide if they want to do business with you or not. Only you will be able to see the level of detail as it is now. The vendor will see total number of transactions, dollar amount spent, age of the account, auto-finalization cancellation and dispute rates.
