Title: Anyone else listen to Joe Rogan Experience?
Post by: painbow on October 11, 2012, 09:13 pm
There's gotta be some Joe's fans on SR.  Are you out there?

If you don't listen to Joe Rogan Experience, you should!

It depends on the guest. I love when they get Shane Smith on the show.

Heard it a few times, I thought I would really like it and got super excited when he had Adam Kokesh on as a guest, but was ultimately really disappointed by his dismissive attitude towards the message Adam was trying to bring to the table.

I don't for the same reason said above, listened twice and both times he was more interested in expressing his view instead of having actual dialogue.

Actually, Joe Rogan's development is really a fascinating thing to watch. You know this guy was straight as an arrow goodietwoshoes, never used drugs, dun break the law, comply to make career type of deal. Then somehow he got an epiphany and saw the light. Truly amazing story.

(Although he's going a bit overboard vis-a-vis Alex Grey crazy)

Ya, the only person that can get away with that is Maron. lol

I think I tried to listen to an ep or two a while back, but between WTF, DLM, and You Made it Weird, I don't have much room for another comedy podcast. I'll have to find that ep where he had on Alex Grey though, liked his artwork ages ago and would be curios to hear what he has to talk about.

Whilst he is very entertaining and I am a huge fan of his work within the UFC, I feel like he spreads a lot of unfounded information through his show. He presents the DMT / pineal gland theory as if it were fact, for example... Just no.

He actually corrected saying that after he learned that it was still a theory.  No one is saying he has all the answers, but it's interesting to see his development as a human being with help of isolation tank (meditation on steroids) and psychedelic experiences.  I think he's a cool dude.

I actually listen to his podcast regualrly, and generally like it alot.
I dont care for the little leftist fairy Duncan whatever that he's friends with--but for the most part, i get a kick out of how far out their thought are.

Most of his guests i like as well.
Listen to the first one he did w Bert Kritcher (sp) ...thats some funny shit right there.

I have listened to it and when it is a topic Joe agrees with it is interesting, but if he has a different opinion he is a giant douche that he has always been. I understand liking psychs and promoting them, but when you promote them while wearing Affliction and Tapout clothing with the demeanor of the Sham Wow guy on steroids some how the point gets lost to me. Maybe I am too judgmental, but somebody like Terrence McKenna even with his wildest theories and future telling computer programs makes me want to listen and give the ideas he presents a fair chance, but Joe makes me think of a guy approaching middle age still having his frat buddies come over to get drunk on PBR so that they can circle jerk to UFC fights while they talk about how much they really like chicks and aren't being gay because it is a "bro thing".

He broaches some interesting topics but I get anxious after listening to him for more than 30 seconds. My yank friends I thank you deeply for the Internet but your inability to recognise when you are sounding like irritating know it all twats is a real shame.

I'm kidding of course. I love ya'll.

Joe offers me nothing new that other choices such as Sam Harris, Terrence McKenna and Bill Hicks can't.

Joe echoes similar messages, but I guess it's a preference or taste in the personality of the speaker.

It depends on the guest. I don't like the mma stuff or his interviews but when he has ari, duncan, diaz, etc. on the show it's always gonna be good.

BUCKLE UP BITCHES.

I hated Fear factor so I didn't like Joe much, but then I got into UFC and Joe is an incredibly good commentator for the UFC fights. I never heard of JRE but I guess I should check it out. I think Joe is really amazing calling the fights. And fuck you ya' lousy limey if I am boring you with my opinions - just kidding too. I love ya' and your bangers and mash and shit.

I'll echo the sentiments that the Adam Kokesh interview REALLY chapped my ass about Joe.

Not fond of the MMA segments except the nutritional ones with Rob Wolff

Starting to really like David Seamen who comes on plugging his Congressional campaign in Florida.

The Bobcat interview was one of my favorites along with any Shane Smith.

JRE has done a lot of good in my life. Got me into VICE and Kettlebells for one.

Joe Rogan didn't bring me here.

Anyway, about the podcast with Adam Kokesh I can understand why Kokesh viewers might have understood Rogan as being rude and not giving a great response, well he wasn't. The problem I see is that Kokesh was completely dickridin' Rogan the entire episode, sucking up to him repeatedly for like 40 straight minutes. It got tiring to watch. The reason Rogan didn't want to sign up for Kokesh's message or "deal", or whatever, is probably because he doesn't agree with it or feel as strongly about it as Kokesh does. I don't think they share the exact same ideology, for example Rogan isn't an anarchist, but Kokesh is. Also, when someone is sucking up to you like that it's quite hard to be appreciative. Either way, I'm not saying Rogan is an angel, he is repeatedly abusive towards Redban and obnoxious, rude, and straight up dumb sometimes also. But, I have to emphasize, so are most of us also at times, nobody is perfect. I have watched a lot of JRE, I enjoy most of it, but as someone posted earlier it depends on the guest. I loved the one with Shane Smith because I also watch a lot of Vice.

The Joe Rogan Experience is a great show, has its flaws, but regardless still a great show to be viewed. Episode quality varies but most often it's great.

Joe Rogan is a cool mother fucker man. I always agreed with the same things he was for. I always liked his parts on every show or event I saw him on.

Hey Joe just keep on keeping on man your doing right in my book bro

I like that Joe Rogan is bringing DMT to the forefront.  Hey, we need to talk ... and that's what he's doing ... presenting it not as an illicit, addictive drug like the mainstream/media/governments believe or want us to believe. Only I haven't heard him say that it smells like an Egyptian sarcophagus.

He seemed pretty cool years ago when MMA was only getting popular in Europe but now i feel hes just a total fucking egomaniac with too much access to the internet, he buys off SR too doesnt he?!

He's a very successful actor, who has thousands of people hanging on his every word. Of course he's got an ego, but imagine if you were in his position. I would have gone full on cult leader by now...

I've only caught one episode of the show and it was damned good.  Not because of Joe Rogan but because of the guests and the topics they brought to the table.

As far as Rogan is concerned I don't keep up with him enough to know of the egomaniac claims but I do know he once gave away his old isolation chamber since he was getting a new one...that's pretty badass in a couple different respects.

Of course he might be buying off of SR but you got to remember a man of his status in society might have really good connects anyway. But, there is a video on Youtube, from the JRE, where Redban mentions Bitcoin and the Silk Road, and JR goes on to mention an article about SR. They go on talking about it, saying that it's stupid to buy drugs through mail or whatever, totally dissing the site. But whatever, he might still have tried it, who knows.

There's no better way to spend three hours than listening to Rogan talk about simulation theory with Trussell with Redban randomly butting in.

OLIVE GARDEN!

yeah I do, I like Joe Rogan. I think the other dudes on his shows (not the guests) are the annoying ones. Joe makes some very, very valid points. I enjoy just having his podcast on in the background.

I listen to it once in a while, most of the time they are very boring.

I remember Joe talking about the SR before and how it was posted on Gawker.com

He was ranting how insecure it would be sending drugs through mails, blah, blah

But discarding all the negative comments about his ego and all, everyone has opinions am I not right?

Plus his work in Jiu-Jitsu and the MMA world is pretty stellar, I wish I can roll with him one day :P
