Would there be an appropriate way and place to describe services which can be made available but to in order to promote and provide the service, so a level of interest can be ascertained?
Would a trade/exchange offer forum be here some day, not for actual transactions just discussion and banter?

I'm not sure a trade/exchange forum is a good idea, just for security issues on everybody's part, but I think a separate place for guaging interest for those who might choose to start selling is a good idea.

Yeah I think product offers is a fine place to do this, adding a extra subcategory would complicate things right?

I think what NomadBloodbath means is that you can gauge interest by *offering* a product, but any wording suggesting your ready to setup a transaction would be off limits?

is that right NB or do you mean no interest gauging too? bit confused :s

I want to gauge interest in things without needing a sellers account. I think almost all new sellers will want to be able to do this too. I think people will not pay for a seller account before they have any idea if they can compete or if they have a product people want.

Why not set up a Vendors-Only-Offers subforum and leave the general Product Offers open for vendors/non to post anything they like including getting a feel for who's interested in what?

I have a lot of things to sell, I made a post to check the market,  but I deleted it myself when I found this sticky. I dont wanna have problems with the mods but It would be could to post posible things to sell for non sellers.

You can gauge interest but vending products on Silk Road is for Vendors.
The forums are a companion site with Silk Road Marketplace and if you don't sell through Silk Road and it's escrow system then your products have no reason to be in this section.
If you don't plan to get a vendor account then dont bother gauging interest.

Only vendors a can offer products in the Products Offered section.

Thank you for your answer. Sorry for the poor writing of my previous message.

1) I will not try to sell anything until I get my Seller account. The idea is to sell using SR, of course.

2) When you say I can gauge interest, I understand that I can start a post, asking if someone would buy X item at X price ( no actual selling, just evaluating potential success).

Thank you for your time.

Ozner.

One Trillion Dollars (pinky at mouth).

If you are willing to send me that I will give you my account, ship you all of my product, and one of the fingers off of my left hand.

if not, it's about $150 and you pay Silk Road.

Seriously, I think it's best to just deal with people on the inside of SR and not to fuck around with people just showing up wanting to do deals here.  Cant Truss It!  I'm not dealing with anyone who doesn't have a vendor account.

I read all the threads but am still a little confused. I want to set up a vendors account to sell subutex in a couple of weeks. I wanted to find out if there would be enough of a demand before I pay the $150. I dont want to offer any deals in the forum just find out if its worth me paying $150.

A lot of the time you just have to play it by ear.  You could try to do a sign-up list and see how many people would be willing to sign up for samples and just sell them at a low margin to cover entry costs, and from there do regular listings are a normal price.  Just create a thread offering it and asking people to sign up for X at XBTC, once you have enough to cover (I would go double just to be sure because typed commitments are going to be far short of money commitments), buy your account and start moving product.   Offer up as many items as you had signups and if some other people decide to join in in lieu of the people who committed but aren't into it anymore, all the better.

Either way it covers your costs and you can set up a review thread so all those samplers can drop a line about dealing with you.  If you treat the community right it's all good from there and you can build yourself a niche business.

Hey thanks a lot for the advice, this is what I will do. This is what I love about this site, there may be the odd threat from LE and scammers but the majority of ppl who use this site are genuinely good and decent ppl. Its a great site. Thanks again for the advice much appreciated.

A thread of mine got deleted, I assume because at the time I had no active listings? How are we supposed to gauge the demand for a product if we have to list it before we can post here?

Anyway I don't know what people mean by "sellers accounts", I just hit the link at the bottom to list an item. Maybe it's because I have an older account.

yeah, you are on grandfathered before they did the separation.  You now have to pay a fee to become a vendor and get the vendor stuff enabled.
Title: Re: To list offers in Products Offered Section of forums...
Post by: MySecretAccount on May 17, 2012, 02:49 am
I have a question about what I can post here, as I have already determined interest for what I'm selling, but I need to sell it to buy a vendor's account. From that point on, I'd be putting up items on a regular enough basis (twice monthly) that it would be well worth the time, but - I like to keep things anonymous.

Would the folowing be allowed?

Post that I'm going to start a Vendor account, selling X item for 1.25BTC each (using real numbers here). NOTE - this is about 60-70% the average cost from what I can tell.

Rather than buy BTC and fund the vendor account, would posting "first person to send X account on SR Vendor fee gets bonus pack (say 20-30% extra, for funding the vendor account). So essentially, it's a custom listing where the end result is a person getting an extra-sized goodie bag for helping me fund me vendor account?

That way, the SR account is up, the original person who decided to send the BTC out of trust to start the vend account gets what they wanted, and that goes in the SR system for tracking/escrow. After that, the vendor account is open and can operate as usual.

I think a lot of people would like to be vendors on an infrequent basis, aren't scammers, but don't like to pay the fees for BTCKing type services, and wish they could use their product to become a vendor in some way.

I imagine getting someone to trust you to follow through would be tough, but I'm sure that smart people could figure out who's on the up and up.

Given that requests has low stuff like "lend me .17 BTC PLEEASE! in it, I don't think trying this would be terrible idea, so I don't want to piss of the mods by starting some new trend of "fund my vendor account for me!", but if the products offered (and also being temperature checked within the market) parlay in to being able to actually have a a new, legitimate vendor on the Road....why not?

Y/N?

Maybe vendor support can set up a special gift code # for you where you btcs go and stay til you purchase your vendor account. Why not PM Vendor Support Directly on Silk Road Marketplace?

Sorry Nomad,
Maybe this is an off topic, but just an input.
But i suggest that every one that wants to do business in SR as a buyer / seller have to get a invitations code first like they do in dutch green club,
Maybe we can do it & give it away by using the transactions statistics  from both buyers & sellers that have do buy / sell for 1.000 $ in total of their statistics as a vendor / buyer,
So for 1.000$ they will get 10 tickets & they can spread it to their trusted friends / seller also can re-sell the invite code again if they want too,
They will get 10 tickets every time they reach 1.000$ statistics in buy / sell.

From what I've come to read and understand, SR has pretty dank security as is.. and is constantly working on their security to stay ahead of LE and any other form of snakes in the grass... either way, can't touch this, pretty much.

TFM was full of tards using Western Union, Paypal, No PGP, careless packaging, careless shipping identities... I mean there is a lot of stuff that has to go wrong... as long as you are SMART and do not get AHEAD of yourself or get GREEDY.. Any MAN can beat another MAN.

Regardless... didn't mean to rant. Long live the revolution of the Road!

Maybe it's a stupid question, but this seemed like the best place to ask:

Can I offer something for free - no strings attached - here on the forums? The idea being, some respected people get to provide feedback and once I get a vendor account up and running there's already some interest.

In particular, I'd be offering free novelty / fake IDs for the state of Ohio ONLY. I could offer them to people with a certain amount of feedback/post. To be clear, this would be absolutely free to them. No "sales" whatsoever (no shipping cost, materials - nothing). It would have to be domestic mail only, as I'd be stuck paying the shipping (which I'm fine with).

Plan on getting a vendor account ASAP, but am growing impatient generating interest online. The "regular" web is pretty much a monopoly (maybe I'm not looking hard enough) and the other forum I joined doesn't have enough users. Maybe soon it will, but like I said I'm getting impatient.

Sorry if this is bad etiquette/against the rules. Been making these for 10+ years in person and recently decided to go digital with it before the market gets flooded. I'm still getting used to how all this operates.

Thanks for any useful replies!

-Ted

So once you purchase a vendor account and have an active listing(s) all I need to do is register a forum nick that is the same as my seller account name? I was just informed that to actually get the "vendor account" status on here I need at least 35 transactions etc, but obviously I would be able to list in "Product Offers" before that right? Otherwise it would be hard to drive initial business.

I had a similar question. Are the forum usernames and main site usernames linked in some way? i.e. how does someone know that a user on the forum is the same user on the main page? If someone on the forum has a thread linking to their listing, that makes sense. But it seems like there's a lot of offers on the forum that do not have a corresponding listing on the main site...

YOU should know if YOU have product worth putting on the Road.
I have personally bought from several Cannabis vendors.. and well, some are OK.. some were BOSS and went to SHIT... and well, some just aren't even worth wasting the time.

Plain and simple... don't put shitty product on the Road. People know what THEY are selling.. but they do it anyways.. and they will talk it up, oh boy will they talk it up... and then you get it.. DING, witching hour. Shitty product. I ground it up, drove down the road, and dumped it all into the wind.

I'm new, and not yet a vendor/seller, so I want to gauge interest in my service before I spend 150 to become one.
I just wanted to make sure that I wouldn't get banned or anything just for exploring my opportunities in advance a bit.

If SR wants more vendors, which they should (and buyers should too, the more vendors the better, competition is a great thing for us) they should allow non-vendors to have a place to gauge interest. I'll never become a vendor, but if I was thinking about becoming one, being able to know what kind of market is out their for my products/potential products would be really important.

They are allowed to gauge interest in this section of the forums, they are just not allowed to have any transactions.

I'm new as a vendor on Silk Road.

My mission:

I have been using (not abusing) drugs for about 15 years now and I think certain types of drugs are worth taking and can me of value if used correctly. However most people that sell drugs are only in it to make money and don't care about the quality of their products. This is why a lot of the products on the market are of poor quality. Amphetamine, for example, in The Netherlands has had an average purity of about 30% the last 20 years, where the highest possible purity is 71%. Although I'm not a big fan of this product I think it's outrageous that quality can be that bad.
Most people that use drugs haven't got a clue what they're taking. XTC pills for example are in fact bullshit products. You never know what's in them. And the feeling you're looking for is produced by products like MDMA possibly in combination with Amphetamine and maybe a couple of other products like MDA or Methylone. However MDMA is just a small portion of the products use to produce XTC pills. The rest of the products are unknown and most of the time products like rat poison. Even if a pill is tested and the result comes out as 140mg MDMA, there's still the question of how pure this MDMA is and what other products are in the pill as well.
Anyways, my mission is to sell quality products, customized pills and offer advise for anyone that wants to use drugs responsibly.

Check out my page if you're interested and any information or advise you'd like to have I will offer for free (of course!).

I've listed a couple of products so far to start off with, but hope to expand my menu with more interesting and quality products.

I don't have a PGP-key yet, but I'm working on it.
Until www.privnote.com might be an option if you wanna talk under the radar.

Also it has been pointed out to me that offering samples and special offers would help finding the  the cumstomers Iwould like to work for. Because a big part of my mission is to satisfy customers I will do that on special order. So if you want any samples, just let me know. I can't make them free, but I will make them as cheap as I can.

For this you can reach me via Silk Road or gildejong@tormail.org.
Even if you only communicate using PGP let me know you would like to talk to me, so I can get back to you as soon as I have a PGP-key.

I think I offer something a lot of people (psychonauts) will appreciate and hope to be an ascet to Silk Road!

What about like a section where users who don't want to go full scale enough or can't afford a vendor account can arrange deals, list offers and what not.... that could then be carried out on BMR? Of course, posting a listing there would have something like a Karma barrier(maybe 15 or so). Yeah, BMR sucks and all that, but what do people do who want to sell small time? Perhaps an alternative could be an Unverified Seller section on SR(though considering the amount of work that'd take, that's just far-fetched[but then again, so a section that would allow BMR{what could be called SR's direct competition} to be promoted is also pretty far-fetched]).

Well sr pays for this server and it's hosting so if you can afford a vendor acount than craigslist os probably the next step.
Piggy Back sales is against the SR guidelines and rules.

That's nice to know.
What about if someone creates a thread in this section to gauge interest, goes to bed, wakes up and his / her thread is a bazillion pages further afar (is this "expression" correct?), is he / she allowed to "push" his / her thread after a period of time?
