So, I remembered the part about the second password. I tried that. Nothing. Now it says that my PIN is reset and I got an automatic email from SR Support saying that if I reply to it within 7 days I can get a PIN reset. Which I did. Nothing.
I am at wit's end and have probably been on SR for the better part of the day. As a result of this, I have literally seen products that I wanted to order be bought out from under me.
-
from what I read (I have one sitting in my inbox) you need to wait 7 days THEN request a new PIN.. Really sucks when you don't remember setting one up, nor do any of your usual pins work.
-
SR Support got me straightened out :-)
-
i have the same problem! i sent them a message, they replied telling me it was reset. didnt say what it was reset to neither did they tell me what i can do to change it?!
how did you manage it in the end?

It should prompt you for a new PIN the next time you try to login.
-
...same thing just happened to me...I guess it is just part of the danger of making up passwords while medicating with anarcho's product, luckily I made sure I knew (or in this case didn't know) my pin before depositing a bunch of BTC into my account. @Freeman how long did it take for SR to get back to you and reset your pin?
-
This happened to me today too - all of a sudden today a PIN box started appearing. Pretty sure I was never prompted - I only registered about 2 weeks ago, made my first purchase last week and don't recall anything about a PIN then!
So hopefully it's just a bug that's affecting a few users - we've all posted about this very recently I suppose.
Sent SR Support a message, hopefully it will be fixed soon.
-
Well my issue has been resolved. I'm not sure if SR silently reset my 2nd password after contacting them, but the phrase I has tried twice already, finally worked on the final attempt. Definitely an issue with the password storage, I'm afraid to change my pass's now, apparently alot of people are in limbo between old and new passwords, both main logon, and pin's
-
They want me to message them again in 7 days to prove I'm the owner...
That doesn't make any sense at all. If I was a hacker, then I would still have the password to log into the account, provided the real me doesn't check, and what difference does 7 days make?
Man, and this is all happening now? Of all the times I try to buy stuff.... what a pain.
-
In the message, is not clear if you are supposed to contact them within 7 days or after 7 days.
-
You have to wait 7 days *then* ask again for a reset. I presume the idea is that an attacker would have to wait that long to compromise BTC and the legit owner has that period to notice something's up with their account and message support (but then again what's to stop the attacker messaging support and saying "Hey! I didn't reset my pin!" and seeing where that goes? ;) ).
-
The seven day rule doesn't make much sense to me either but what else can we do? Seriously anyone know what I can do outside of waiting seven days? I want to make purchases now ;D. I'm just happy I discovered I didn't know my pin before I deposited all of my BTC. Luckily my SR account only has 0.07 BTC atm so if a hacker was trying to hack me they sure aren't making minimum wage.
-
Yes, I got a message from SR Support yesterday, and you need to wait 7 day. :( :(
-
I too have succumbed to the PIN number. They really should have told us it was going to be used for purchases. At first, it was only for withdrawals which i didn't plan on doing under my buying account so i didn't make an effort to remember it. :(
-
I feel your pain as well I am in the same boat. Managed to mess that up seeing as I have like 4-5 passwords I regularly use. It sucks watching vendors sell out of good things and have to wait even longer >_<
-
i know the first 8000 digits of PI. i can remember every phone number i have ever had. my memory is astounding. yet i cannot remember my pin. had i been asked for my pin soon after i set it i would probably know it by heart. SR asked me 7 months after i created my account. as i told you in my message SR, shove my pin up your ass. in 7 days the things i want will be gone. thank you
-
I was never asked to setup a PIN and now I cannot make my order, so sad :'( wtf is going on
-
Yep same situation for me. I had no plans of withdraws so I didn't bother to remember it. And I find out it's needed for purchases after BTC Buddy was the man and loaned me a bitcoin. Now I can't even pay him back for 7 days or I setup a new account.
-
For newbies to considers. You might just want to make a second account, since you have little or no buying stat anyway. This is what I did.
-
For newbies to considers. You might just want to make a second account, since you have little or no buying stat anyway. This is what I did.
Or for all those who haven't locked away all their BTC in their SR account, play the market and get more BTC while you are waiting for SR to reset your PIN. Just been playing it for a day with $280 since the BTC is just sitting around and I can't make purchases, and I've already made around $30...that is as long as I don't lose it ;)
-
Well it's been a week. Now SR Support says I have to wait FIVE MORE DAYS before I can get my pin changed. I have shit to buy.
-
Well it's been a week. Now SR Support says I have to wait FIVE MORE DAYS before I can get my pin changed. I have shit to buy.
How's that? Weren't pins for purchases only introduced like, on Friday?
-
I too am raging.
ARG!!. 7 days!?!? having so much money in an unstable currency is painful enough. But having to wait 2 weeks for my product is even worse!!
Could it not be reduced to 24 hours? or 48 hours? Surely a smart hacker would just change the 1st password before attempting to use the pin and then just wait out the 7 days? Its a bit of a useless policy. And A Frustrating one.
I don't remember ever entering in a PIN?
-
as asbury said
even myself felt no need to remember password as i would never be taking btc out i only use to buy and its disapointing to let a vendor down as i was about to pay
and i even made a payment a few days ago and didnt need a pin i have 1 attempt left is it just worth doing it wrong and waiting the 7 days?
-
What I wish I knew before making all my attempts, was apparently its a second password.
not pin.. I would have guessed all my common passwords except I was trying numbers only.
(ARG. I wanna order!)
-
Your PIN is the secondary password you were asked to set, either at the creation of your account or afterwards. If you do not know your PIN, take some guesses, after 5 attempts it will lock you out and you will receive an automated message about Resetting your PIN. Reply to that message 7 days AFTER receiving it to get a new PIN. This is for your own security to make sure there are no other request for your account, a step taken to stop the phisher problem or at least severely reduce it. This will keep a phisher from getting your pass and just requesting a reset and taking your money, or making an illicit transaction and finalizing to take your money. I'm sorry for the inconvenience but this is for your safety. Please be patient, our admins have a lot on their plates.
Peace,
DigitalAlch

Yeah, I just got bullshit "form letter" response from SR tech support regarding the PIN issue.
Sadly, the response failed to address any of the points/issues I made when I contacted them regarding this PIN problem. My response to "wait 5 more days dude":
Hmmm...nice form letter response. Way to answer me without addressing ANY of the points that I made in my message.
When I created my account a few days ago, yes there was a blank area to create a PIN. I don't know which internet you've been browsing for the last decade, but a PIN is usually referring to a "number code sequence", not a secondary password.
Also, when creating an account on ANY of the hundreds of websites I've registered with over the years, if an account field was REQUIRED, I would be unable to create an account without having filled in ALL of the required fields. Silk Road ALLOWED me to:
a) create an account WITHOUT creating a PIN.
b) buy (and transfer) Bitcoins into my account WITHOUT the PIN.
c) Contact SR support in a patient, friendly manner, only to be answered with your bullshit form letter "Just wait 5 days, you might be a phisher, even though you just moved Bitcoins into your account, lol" response.
I guess it's off to the forums to piss and moan with everyone else affected by the glitch in your system. At least on the forums, moderators seem to actually be helping those people who are complaining publicly.
So, here I am. Complaining publicly in the hopes of a getting a better response than "wait 5 more days - sorry about our security glitch that we won't acknowledge" response.
:-\

I too have succumbed to the PIN number. They really should have told us it was going to be used for purchases. At first, it was only for withdrawals which i didn't plan on doing under my buying account so i didn't make an effort to remember it. :(
Exactly. When I was prompted for the information, the rules were only for BTC withdrawal. Now those rules have changed without notice or a chance to update and I'm now locked out too.
PIN = "Personal Identification NUMBER" This caused me to use my usual PIN's first since a PIN was asked for, wasting a few of my 5 attempts.
Why aren't we given notice and opportunity to update our own security information when there's a significant policy change such as this?
Why wouldn't you do something like "SR Security Policy Update: To make a puchase now requires a PIN. Enter a purchasing PIN now or check this box to use the secondary password as your purchasing PIN"
Why only 5 attempts?
Why 7 days?
Why can't there be a pgp based way to something like this that's more foolproof?
This whole thing is extremely misleading and done about as smoothly as the SR URL change or the shipping categorization. I get the 'why' behind this and know that its a good idea, that its already saving people from getting robbed and I'm sure that it will smooth out over time like everything else has, but dammit, raise the bar on the professionalism around changes that affect your users so directly.
-
It has been 7 days for me, I contacted SR late last night asking them nicely to help me reset my PIN, but no answer yet. If anyone from SR sees this please help me out, I would be very appreciative. Thank you
-
Just want to update, it took nearly a day for them to get back to me to reset my PIN but my ordeal is now over...thank you SR admin, I hereby pledge never to create passwords while stoned again ;)
-
I'm having the same problem and its now going on 8 days since form notification with no response or help yet!!!!!Somebody at SR Support do something PLEEEAASSE!
-

You are supposed to keep the PIN reset message in your inbox and reply after 7 days have passed. You don't get contacted automatically.
Cheers,
-
The fucking captcha taunted me when I just logged in 'hash162', aargh >:(
-
Well this just happened to me as well.
What REALLY sucks, aside from not being able to purchase anything, is that the value of the BCN can devalue, thus lowering one's buying power.
There has to be a better solution than this 7-day rule.
-
ugh just got my new listings up to sell and saw this page on pins and I totally forgot my pin haha. Guess if I make some sales ill be taking a long position on BTC for the next week or so.
-
FUCK! This shit just happened to me!
-
well this is great, went to buy something after buying overpriced btc that i had to wait for ages to get, first off i had to wait 17 hours for it to come through, then i just found out about pins and i tried to guess 5 times and got it wrong, but i dont remember ever setting a second one and i have a small notebook where i keep all my important details. Now the BTC prices have changed which has now made me unable to buy what i want. FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK. Sorry about my vulgarity but im really pissed off because money is tight for me at the moment and i was looking forward to getting my drugs. :( .
-
Wow. The admins really don't give a fucking shit about their users, forcing all of us to wait 7 days because some genius came up with this irrational security measure that makes me want to punch babies in the face. I don't have a week to wait because of this stupid nonsense.
-
Why is SR support so utterly useless and obtuse? How many people do you think have contacted SR support because someone tried to reset the PIN on their hijacked account? 2? 3? How many people do you think are just being infuriated by this PIN bullshit, being forced to wait 7 fucking days???? This thread is the tip of the iceberg. Extremely, extremely annoyed at this I will be looking for some other community to join as SR doesn't care about me after 8 months of membership. If I traveled to my drug dealer, gave him the money and he told me "Sorry! You have to wait 7 days to get your goods!" I would punch him in the face, with SilkRoad all I can do is take my business elsewhere. Sorry.
-
Just adding my 0.02 BTC... I too have locked myself out after forgetting my "PIN." I've messaged the admins and my message is still unread. Let me get this straight... you'll let me deposit my hard earned money into my account without a "PIN" but I need a "PIN" to get the money out?
"PIN" is in quotes because I also wasted 4/5 attempts with my normal 4-digit PINs, instead of trying my usual passwords. After checking the forums and learning that the "PIN" is in fact a second alphanumeric password, I had a measly ONE try to get it right. And I guessed wrong, of course.
This is deal-breaking shit right here. It's time to shop around for another site if the admins don't get this cleared up soon. It's just unprofessional.

Agree 100%. Just remove stupid "5 guesses or you have to wait one week" thing and we will all be OK. The admin doesn't seem to care about all of the people he is fucking around with this stupid shit. Now I have to wait an extra 8 days to get my drugs I will definitely think twice about using Silk Road ever again.
-
I messaged SR support and they reset my pin within a couple of hours
-
I messaged SR support and they reset my pin within a couple of hours
How did you word your message? Mine was very polite and to the point. No response, 24 hours later :(
Makes me sad, I just want to place an order...
-
Admins got me sorted. Could just be that they're swamped with messages. Anyway, best of luck to those of you still waiting for a response.
-
I waited the 7days and have tried to contact SR for the last two days (4 messages) and no response.
I am still in limbo.
-
If I piss and moan in a thread, I should also post the good stuff... admins sorted me out a day ahead of schedule.
I just keep telling myself that what was inconvenient for me was a measure that's protecting whole herds of other users.
With all of that said, 7 days is an eternity to have BTC locked up. The BTC movement was minor for me, but had this been one of those "btc drops to half its value" weeks, that'd be a different story.
I think this feature needs to leverage SR's 'hedged' ability somehow that's fair to everyone involved. I'll go post that in the feature request forum now.
I also think that the whole "secondary password" and "PIN" and the expressed intent of it all when creating it needs to be brought into alignment documentation-wise. The wording is definitely not in sync with it all.
-
Had to send a couple of messages to SR support but the guy/guys decided to sort me out. I just explained that I haven't changed my password in 8 months (obviously not a stolen account) and they reset it for me without being forced to wait. Unfortunately Bitcoin has fluctuated now and I can't go on and buy what I want, oh well. The problem with the PIN system is the "5 tries and you're out" restriction, it just isn't necessary, but I'm grateful to have this resolved quickly.
-
So basically I'm stuck here with the same problem. It's really annoying that the system is so messed up.
First of all, they allow you to transfer funds to your SR account without asking your PIN. Then you realize, you either don't remember or you weren't sent or asked to enter a PIN during registration procedure. None of my passwords match, and that never happened to me before.
Second, when registering, one should be NOTIFIED WITH CAPSBOLD or whatever to carefully remember your PIN as it is very important for further transactions.
You, guys, should really step up this procedure, to either add a secret question or something else, in order to reset PIN automatically without having to wait, or make new users remember their PINs as I said before.
-
Same situation here. Pretty much my fault for being dabbed out all the time but I didnt realise we needed the 2nd password to buy shit... Anyhow I waited 8 days and sent admin a message so I should be sorted out soon I hope. It would be nice to be a customer again lol lots of nice things to buy here!
-
I'm a little bummed - waited a week, sent the message, and got a response saying it was reset and that I'd get prompted if I logged back in.
I didn't :( Tried at least 4 times, and nothing different in the login or the settings page.
Hope it doesn't end up taking another week; as it stands, the coin has already dropped since I first tried to place an order. Still cursing myself for somehow forgetting it (how!? I always use the same thing, and/or store something in my GPG file!)
-
Admin sorted me out within 24 hours of requesting my reset. Thanks!
-
Glad to see that most everyone is getting sorted out quickly and that this thread has become such a useful place for people to rant about their PIN reset woes! :)
-
My interpretation was that you should reply back WITHIN 7 days, not after 7 days. I replied immediately and was able to reset my PIN the next day. Thanks!
-
Wow, sounds like the admins have been doing a good job sorting people out lately, props to them.
-
sent an email after 7 days, hoping to hear back soon so i can some cocaine
-
Yup, I fell into the classic "set a lame PIN thinking I will never need to use it" problem.
I really was in a hurry to place an order, so I'm banking on a PIN reset even though it has only been one day. It's either that or buy more BTC, wait about 4 days, and make a new account.
Scumbag PIN: "Oh, you thought you were going to buy that awesome MDMA in time PLUS get it with the valentine's day deal? NOPE"
-
I also just noticed that I had to use a pin and was not sure about it. In two days i will be ordering some coke and was worried i would have to wait seven days so i thought that i would get a heads start just in case. So I hit my acount button (which has 0.55btc) and chose to withdraw that amount to my own SR aacount number. To do this you need your pin....so after two attempts luckily I remembered my pin and if I did not i would have had at least a two day head start with my pin reset email.
Alternately you could choose to reset your pin with your old pin and have the mail sent earlier.
Hopefully this is not too confusing to read:)
-
I didn't mind this security measure until now. I wrote down my pin when I created it. Used it before for several purchases. Went to try to make a purchase today moments after I deposited coins (must be a rather generous "hacker" if I'm funding my victim's (me) account. The pin I had set no longer works at all. I left it at 4 out of 5 tries used and messaged them about wtf is going on. This is seriously worrying me because if the pin I set no longer works, then how did it get changed without action on my end? It's silly that people are unable to make purchases due to a security feature put in place due to people being ignorant and getting phished. Yeah go chase after the money from the people too stupid to not get phished while established customers can't spend shit due to pin issues. Brilliant.
-
@xx138xx; I think something weird happened with PINs. Because I use the same password for everything but for some reason the password wouldn't work for my PIN. Then only thing I can think of is that because I was given no indication of *what* a pin was while signing up I just put some bullshit in that box. Man, hope the SR Support can help me out soon. :C
-
What's makes this even lamer for me is that it would be quicker to set up a new account and get some more bitcoins than to wait the 7 days, but I wouldn't get my drugs before the weekend that way. Man. There has to be a better way?
-
Obviously the admin is a very busy guy so it can take a day or two, sometimes longer, for them to get a chance to read through their inbox to deal with these issues. In my case I sent them a message about my issue along with information (past deposit addresses, mailing addresses, and information about my first ever SR transaction) that wouldn't be available to someone who wasn't the actual owner of the account. I'm hoping it is enough to get them to sort me out early so I don't miss the weekend sale entirely but I still have to wait patiently for Sr to get a chance to read it.
-
OMG I love SR support! I was having issues with the site and kept entering the wrong PIN (flipping caps lock was on (what a useless button btw) but I didn't get the "Wrong PIN X tries left" warning). I just hit up SR support explaining my situation and within 24 hours of the reset they re-reset it and I was redirected to the form to re-set my PIN... reset. I is a happy camper!
-
Same here man, credit where credit is due. SR Support is awesome! Under 24 hours and I got a PIN reset. Just in time for the weekend sales!!!
Couldn't be happier.
-
i hope i dont have to wait 7 days..gonna miss the sale!!
-
I swore to myself I would remember my PIN, but when it came down to it- epic fail! I sent a msg to them also. God I hope it comes through early! I'm writing the fucker down this time. How could I have been so STUPID???!!!
-
I got a reply back about my pin reset all it said was "PIN (Secondary Password) reset. Please log back in and out to change your pin.
~SR Support" no link to reset it or nothing.
Wtf SR :\
-
I got the same msg and mine worked just fine. Thanks SR!!! I went from forgetting my pswrd to being all set in about 4 hours. That rocks! Now I'm all set to enjoy the sale. Thanks SR!
-
Well spit it out. wtf did you do differently? was there a link inside the email or something? What do they mean by "Secondary password"
-
So getting on here and begging them to let me use the 100 bucks I JUST transferred to my account is the best way to go about speeding up my reset?
THEN I WILL BEG!
pleasepleasepleasepleasepleasepleasepleasepleaseplease
-
Damnit. No sale for me now.
This PIN reset needs to be automated.
-
I got a reply back about my pin reset all it said was "PIN (Secondary Password) reset. Please log back in and out to change your pin.
~SR Support" no link to reset it or nothing.
Wtf SR :\
...What do they mean by "Secondary password"
PIN=Secondary Password and Secondary Password=PIN. Same thing, different name: the thing you'll need to know in order to withdraw BTC from SR or to purchase product through SR.
At a guess, I'd say what they mean is to: 1) log in, 2) set a PIN, 3) log out (not just close the browser) to record the PIN you've entered. Alternatively, they may mean: 1) log in, 2) log out, 3) log in again, 4) set a PIN.
Appologies for just guessing here, but I've not encountered this problem.
-
The second time they did it (about an hour ago) it worked. Was there right as I logged in
-
Durp, I figured out my pin on the last guess. Nvm
Oz
-
...write it down somewhere, type it somewhere and store securely not so hidden you will never find it again -as everyone should be doing with passwords...
-
Please help me. I just deposited a bunch of money into my SR Account and never had to use my "PIN" before and now I'm locked out.. I sent you guys 3-4 messages already please help me!!! I don't want to wait a week!! I'll send you my DNA to prove its me!!!!! PLEEASE!
-
Ugg, any admins out there please check your messages. Waiting for my reset after the seven days, and now my main vendor is out & secondary, I'll have to wait another 9 days to receive anything.
This needs to be automated and the language needs to be changed that this isn't just to withdraw but also to make purchases!
-
Wow man that is crazy. You msgd them on SR and not just in the forums, right? I msgd them on SR right before the sale because I forgot my shit and they had it reset in hours. Good luck.
-
Thanks for the info people, I was also under the impression that the e-mail needed to be sent WITHIN 7 days, not AFTER 7 days. English is a hard language 8)
-
I waited the 7 days, sent SR a response to their "You account has been locked" message and now it's been over a day and no response from them. I've already lost out on several products I wanted to purchase. >:(
-
I would go to the "contact us" section on SR. When my acct was locked I went to that and PM'd them. They had my PIN reset in a couple of hours. I was STOKED because I didn't miss the sale. Don't blow 'em up but try and see what happens. Remember, sugar > vinegar.
-
F'king great, somebody gets into my account and changes my pin (i must have logged in from a dirty machine), now because of some douche bags internet rampage, i have to wait 7 days....
I dont have time for this.
-
Try to msg them. They had my shit fixed in an hour. Reply to the email, but also PM them from the front page of SR. Good luck.
-
Pm'ed and Contacted Support from homepage link, been a couple hours so far...
-
I waited the 7 days to reply to the reset message but it's now been 16 hours and no reply. I also sent a message via the contact us link on the front page. This is starting to worry me.
-
Follow up: I didn't realize when I posted my first message that SR is run by one guy. If I did then I would have been more patient.
I did get my PIN reset and everything is now fine.
-
Mine got reset after a message to SR, no 7 days wait - these guys are great.
-
Disaster, I got the dreaded PIN wrong after unsuccessfully attempting to remember.
I am gutted as just funded my account this morning. Really hoping for a quick resolution
-
I waited my 7 days. Sent the reply asking for it be reset ,3 hours and its still not done. This should be automated. I have had 10 btc in my account just sat there.
The wife goes away tomorrow and I was planning on getting some product to enjoy myself in her absence.
Come on please please I am begging here hehe reset my pin.
:'(
-
As a newbie, I finally had the bitcoins to make a purchase. Too bad for me I don't remember my pin and now I've been locked out. Sent a nice little message to SR Admins and hopefully they can help me out.
-
This stupid PIN system has got to be the most poorly executed "improvement" that SR has made in its history thus far. I had just moved eleven hundred dollars worth of BTC into my account, and then I get slapped in the face with a PIN that I cannot for the life of me remember. Now, thanks to pure random chance, I'm locked out of my account, forced to watch as I lose hundreds of dollars due to depreciation. Not only that, but SR Support can't be bothered to reset my PIN after the seven day waiting period, followed by FIVE unanswered messages from me in as many hours. What. The. Fuck.
I can only take solace in the fact that I bought enough bitcoins that I'll PROBABLY be able to buy what I wanted to. But we'll see just how badly I get fucked by this inane PIN system and its Kafkaesque recovery process.
Jesus Christ this is pissing me off.
-
Same here :D
I don't even remember that I had to set up a PIN! (No i was NOT stoned at that time)
While being really sad about that setback the website doesnt respond anymore (connection timeout).
Oh well, lets hope this resolves soon(ish)! :)
-
Created my account 4 months ago, saved all my passwords in an encrypted file, have only changed my main password 2 months ago as a security measure and have nothing in any of my notes about a damn pin. I had no choice but to lock it out, lets hope they respond as quickly as others have said. I was very polite in my message about not having to use a pin in any of my previous 5 purchases, why the sudden need for one.
Crossing my fingers the BC market doesn't change to much I'd hate to lose anymore money waiting on this.
-
- have some patience, swim have had quick responses before all depends on how busy admins are at the time...it will be sorted.
- with yet another 'passw' to remember best to add it a gpg keyring or in an encrypted file and store in a secure location.
-
I hate to beat a dead horse, but this is quite frustrating. I'm about to just say fuck it and create a new account, it would be quicker at this point i think
-
My PIN was kindly reset after a few hours and a panicky PM to support.
Good support IMO.
Thanks.
-
Ok, I'm having a few issues. It is hard for me to know if this is PIN related or this is related to something wrong with my checkout box.
I've had this problem before.
Well, first of all. I know my PIN. I've never used it, but I do know it.
When I go to the shopping cart and place my order and type in the PIN and hit ''place order'' .. it just reloads the shopping cart page.
Does this mean incorrect PIN? Does this mean something is wrong with the site?
I tried downloading Tor on another computer and placing my order that way, but Tor wouldn't view SR ...
Please somebody help me. I've been trying to get this order placed for almost 3 days. I don't want the price of BTC to change me royally screw me over.
I've tried everything.
Anybody else have this problem?
-
Just had the same problem, went to make my purchase after waiting all week for BTC only to find out I forgot my PIN. Sent SR support a message hopefully I get a fast response like some of the others in this thread.
-
Same... all excited on the order form and then farrk i can't remember the pin.. have bought before and really don't want to wait seven days!!
PLEASE HELP !~!
-
I got reply from them within a few hours but still haven't been prompted for a new PIN. ¯\(°_o)/¯
-
I haven't received a response at all yet :-[ got 200 us in there for a purchase languishing that I can't touch
