Can someone please tell me how are we suppose to find out what the rate is?

There are several threads already addressing this.
The rate is supposed to be the mtgox rate but sometimes the site is slow to update. Alternatively, you can divide the price in dollars by the bitcoin price.

I thought it was a security reason as to why they have removed the conversion for now?

he asked how to find the rate, not why it was removed.

In order to find out the actual bitcoin rate check Mt GOX. In order to find the BitCoin rate that Silk Road uses do the math.

You could always go to your settings page and choose to show prices in dollars rather than bitcoins.

Secuirty comes first, comfort second.
Use mtgoxlive.com to check current rates, and yes they only change so often so they use an average. As was said early just change it from BTC to USD if you don't like doing this.
