Just a quick kudos and plug for SumYunGai for coming through with great service. I went to him as a backup for my normal (non SR) route of getting BTC when it was unavailable, but he won me over. He is now my #1 choice for conversion.
We all know that BTC value fluctuation is tormenting us all, that's a whole other conversation, but I bring it up because this guy's service integrity is that when he thought he might have caused an undue delay in our transaction (a delay in our messaging mind you of maybe an hour, for which I just went to dinner and came back) his first reaction was that if as a result I got screwed on being able to place an order by BTC value dropping overnight, that he'd help work something out. Seriously.
I don't expect charity or someone to insure me against the unknowable, but wow, this guy stepped up at even the potential of something going awry in our transaction.
Thankfully, everything went even smoother than what I normally go through and in fact, everything was done in an extremely timely manner given the circumstances that I won't go into here. This guy made it happen and acted like a real partner in the transaction.
-
I agree man, Sumyungai's service is excellent, and couldn't be more important to the SR community.
I'm real glad they're still people who are like him.
-
The turnaround time the other day for my MP to BTC was roughly 2 minutes. Guy is good at what he does and I hope he continues to do it for a long while. :)
-
Yes, SumYunGai is defiantly a legit and a valuable playa on the SR team.
+1 vouch,
Paperchasing
-
SumYunGai is swift and an honest broker. Will use again for sure.

Agreed,
SYG was the first way I ever got BTC, knowing nearly nothing about them when I found SR. First transaction was perfect. I mentioned that I was leaving for a few hours during our transaction, and he waited till I got back in case his price went down. That was pretty cool.
My second took longer, but he'd mentioned he was having trouble processing. Went to bed after hearing nothing from him for a few hours. Next morning, mentioned to him I was a little concerned and he sent them within minutes.
All around, honest and legit. I like to get and keep BTC within SR (no experience yet off-site,) and he is invaluable for this.
-
So SYG is back in business I take it?
Last time I tried him he wasn't officially closed, but every time I sent him my MP # he just cancelled the order with no explanation.
-
I just want to jump on the SYG BAND WAGON. +1 bro. Keep up the great service. Will you exchange my MP code?
-
I got sick of waiting 4-5 days for BTC and went with SYG after hearing only good things. First transaction went smoothly. Now I have other people's money tied up in an order and SYG says that "serious SHIT" is hitting the fan. Anyone know what is going on? I'm not very happy right now.
Also, SilkRoad has been a bitch and a half just to log in. This was a problem the week before Halloween too. If this keeps up, I will not use SR for anything other than paltry needs that I don't give a good goddamn if they take 2-3 weeks to get sorted out.
-
SYG is an honest dude. I have some loot tied up right now myself but I am sure he will get me the coins as soon as he can. I have no idea what this "serious shit" is though and I would love to know.
-
SYG is an honest dude.
Yeah, I believe so too.
-
Update... Got my coins from SYG and found out he has some SERIOUS SHIT going on. If he takes a minute to get back to you that is why. Trust me, this shit is serious. Anyway as always SYG comes through. Thanks man....

Good to hear. Thanks for the update. Communication remains good and I look forward to a resolution.

SYG seems to be extremely credible could anyone verify if he has followed through with transactions over 1000 USD? or has anyone had experience with him for dollar amounts such as this,

SYG seems to be extremely credible could anyone verify if he has followed through with transactions over 1000 USD? or has anyone had experience with him for dollar amounts such as this,
well, i just did a transaction for 1000 usd today and am sending him another 2800 usd tomo and everything has gone smoothly and good communication and hes fast especially considering how busy this guy must be. so far hes 100% in my books and the only money man I use in virtual world!!
big props to SYG!!!!
honest people are hard to find and we actually got one in this guy!!
-

I have and he has always come through.
-
I <3 SYG. On our first transaction, I was .11BTC short of what I wanted to buy on SR. He sent it over immediately, just to be nice. He's held BTC for me, to give me time to run and get a moneypak. All in all, awesome guy. I've used him 3 times, I think, and all the transactions went perfectly. He's my #1 exchanger.
-
SYG is probably a very honest guy, but my current transaction is going NOTHING like my last.
Last time, BTC in under an hour. This time, although I ordered the "Bitcoins in Seconds" listing I tried to follow his request and laid out my timetable in my message. I needed within 24 hours, and would prefer within 12 hours. The reason was to get an order in to be shipped before Thanksgiving, so it could hopefully arrive Saturday. SYG accepted the order, which according to his process means he can fill the order. I sent MP # and waited about 20 hours, then sent a message. I got a reply that SYG had "some hangups yesterday" but hoped to be able to get bitcoins "later today". It's now been about 36hours and no bitcoins. Not real great communication + unexpected delay = a crappy transaction. I totally understand if some SERIOUS SHIT happened, but you gotta communicate. Basically, I'm a little upset that SYG would accept the listing without BTC available to fulfill. There's several buyers posted here with unfilled orders and even though SYG's status now says AWAY, he still has listings up.
If SYG comes through eventually that will be great, but this leaves me with a bad taste. At this point I am not sure I would do business with SYG again, and a month ago I would have said the opposite. .
-
It's been three days since he took my MP, I was told it would be 24 hours tops. There is no response to my PMs so I have no idea what is going on. I'm very upset because of the amount of money involved and the listing I was hoping to purchase will soon be gone.
-
Yep, 48 hours and no BTC, 24 hours since last responded to a PM yet SR shows last seen today. I hope SYG is not one of the trusted vendors who has turned on the SR community after building up a good reputation. I am trying hard not to impugn reputation of a previously trusted vendor, but it seems like there are several customers left swinging in the wind right now.
CaliGrown78, can you elaborate on the "Serious Shit" that SYG has going on to perhaps help ease the concerns of those of us who are understandably nervous at this point?
-
You guys are both posting under brand new accounts. How do we know your telling the truth? I know that I was speaking too SumYunGui about some other stuff and I noticed he went offline and has not read my msges.
-
Just received BTCs. The delay was due to huge purchases of BTCs being made and so his reserve was low.
-
Taco, thanks 4 ur fast update. The last thing we need is 4every1 2 be paranoid about 1 or 2 good exchangers we has. Borneo is another good one.
-
My acct is new here (never needed to post before) but not on SR. I have done business with SYG before and he WAS awesome. As I said, I hate to impugn a trusted seller, but all I am doing is posting my current experience, which is not positive and does not appear to be unique.
I did finally get a PM on SR from SYG, he said due to his extreme popularity he has been a target for scammers, etc but did not give any specific reason for any delays. He said by the time I read that he should have plenty of coins, but as of yet I still have not received them.
I do not think SYG is a scammer, just that his service (at least as of now) has slipped severely from where it was. If it takes several days to get your BTC, AND you pay a premium on the exchange rate, frankly there are better services out there. Speed is the only thing that made his premium worth the cost. I will post later today whether I receive BTC or not and if so, whether SYG made it worthwhile.
-

[/quote] Hey bro, I am not in a position to elaborate on other peoples business. I will say that it is understandable why he has had some delays as of late. He has a lot of my loot too ($2000) and I have been waiting for almost 48 hours, but I am in no way worried about whether (did I spell that right...fuck it) or not he will come through. With today being Turkey Day here in the states I understand delays.
To all,
SYG is not a scammer from my experience so calm down and be patient. Good things come to those that wait.
-
everyone, these accounts are all true. i have experienced some delays, poorly managed some time and money this week, and had a few unrelated hangups and setbacks involving my time and money. and i've even had some hangups involving some of you all's money. some SERIOUS SHIT went down two or three days ago, while this week has then already been extremely trying with both family events combined with incredible business demand. to top this off, extending myself to the limit and apparently cutting corners i cannot afford to cut, i was robbed and stabbed thru the hand. and thats little shit, not the SERIOUS SHIT.
i assure everyone i am here to stay, to build a legitimate business and a strong brand. to advance the FUTURE OF GLOBAL COMMERCE! i am not JUST some fly by night faceless identity on a shady backalley web site. i recognize this community as a bunch of smart revolutionary people more interested in freedom and social evolution, not JUST a den of junkies and feenz!
time is what i'm lacking right now but help from my friends is what will get me through it. i'll be back with a more detailed report as soon as i can
thank you for everyone that's stood up for me. i don't expect it out of anyone.
i value the trust i've earned here more than anything money can buy and i'm not going anywhere that they don't drag me with one hell of a fight!
-
Damn SYG I hope you are damn all right!
SYG has always came through for me multiple times and will always use him when needed. I really hope you are ok though friend.
I also hope you really do indeed stay here for a long time till the end.
Keep it easy brotha, and hope things work out for you!
-
Fellas..,
Take the guy at his word. He explained plenty. Too many specific is ALWAYS a BAD idea. You've trusted SYG w/your MP codes, money transfer services and digital goods for a while now. Take the guy at his word. He's overextended and needs to work some shit out and catch up before taking on more responsibilities. Done. Now wait. Take care SYG. See you back in action soon.
-
Thanks SYG, for posting here, explaining some of what is up that is out of your control (holy crap if that's the least of it!) and for owning up. I'm sure this makes everyone much more comfortable.
Still no BTC here, but I'm waiting patiently now, and will report my experience when I have something to report.
-
Word, yo money gee. Tight game yo. Props!
-
You guys are both posting under brand new accounts. How do we know your telling the truth? I know that I was speaking too SumYunGui about some other stuff and I noticed he went offline and has not read my msges.
Go look at my post in this same thread. I think I was one of the first 250 SR members. I've been here forever. I'm all for healthy skepticism, but geez I get tired of seeing this shit over and over. Believe it or not, everyone on the SR boards isn't lying all the time about everything.
-
I'm still waiting on the order I placed on 11/21. Still holding out faith in SYG. Although, I am a little bothered by the fact that it looks like some people that placed orders AFTER me have had theirs filled, yet I'm still waiting.
-

-
Just checked again, and BTC are there. I'm content with the exchange rate which after deducting SYG's advertised fee was right around current SR quoted price, which is slightly above (BTC more expensive) than when I ordered but is well below his stated prices. All in all I would say quite fair especially since SYG obviously did not make much profit on my deal if he didn't take a loss. Bottom line: Shit sometime happens, ppl get nervous and pissed, but if ppl communicate as best they are able and make good in the end all is good.
-
Now I know I'm not the only one getting the run around from SYG lately.
When I first started on the road back in early october SYG was my boy, 15 minute transactions, good communication etc etc
The past 3 times I've tried to use him in the past month no dice.
Twice I ended up going through other vendors instead (with delays there as well) because I had waited 2-3 days for SYG to respond to my messages
Anyway, moral of the story = dont rely on moneypak LOL
-
I've been waiting for a few days (more than most of the people bitching here) for my BTC; they still haven't arrived and I still have complete faith in SYG. Give the guy a break, he's not some gigantic fucking faceless corporation, he said he's been dealing with family shit for the last couple days and that should be enough for people to back off. I understand people probably have had large amounts of money tied up for a few days, but come on. Save this shit for the real scammers.
-
I'm still waiting for a reply to a question I sent SYG and I reminded him about it 4 days ago and still nothing. Since I'm not the only one he's likely busy with the some RL shit and hopefully things will return to normal soon.
-
I have been doing biz with SYG and he is safe. People you gotta have a little patience! this guy is really fuckin busy from what I can tell and I think he is trying his best to plz everyone but if you end up waiting a lil, dont stress him out too much, we need good people like him around or this whole place will be fucked! anyways, I know its frustrating, but just give SYG the benefit of the doubt and I am sure he will come through
-
Thanks to some help from my friends I'm back in action and on top of things for now. I'm gonna always do my best and get rightdafukbakup when I'm knocked down. It's been a hectic few days. If I haven't got back to you please hit me up on SR PM. Not everyone's name's the same here, I'm not sure who all I'm missing. I appreciate the patience everyone's shown me but it's also never a bother to hear from any of you again with a question or nudge. Sometimes I miss messages altogether because if they don't load up but they get marked read I may not always get to em amidst many more still coming in and these last two weeks if you inquired about one of my other services besides trading I may have put your note too far on my back burner. I apologize and vow to expand this brokering and exchange business efficiently and transparently. I'm preparing a more formalized and detailed business roadmap to present here soon.
-
I thought I'd chime in concerning SYG. I have had at least a half dozen transactions with him and always have been more than satisfied. If there is a problem with getting you the BC he will let you know, he's honest and that is not cheap commodity on an anonymous marketplace. I've only been on SR for about 6 months, but there are only 2 or 3 sellers I trust and he is one of them.
-
I had no issue whatsoever with SumYunGai. They were quick to respond to messages and they had (at my time of ordering) 4 different tiered rates based on speed and fee/no fee. This is good for the times you want and need some quick BTC and are willing to pay the extra few points, and also good for the times you are in no rush and would prefer to save some money.
I got more bitcoins than I paid for with the exchange rate I chose, and faster than quoted. Really can't beat the flexibility of the options and the rapid communication. SYG also gives the .01 BTC out to buy the auction if you have none. Whatever SERIOUS SHIT they had going on, they must have handled it like a pro because they absolutely have their shit together currently.
Would recommend, will buy again.
-
It's not "all peachy keen" again yet and while I appreciate this last guys optimism, I certainly don't have it ALL together haha.
I CAN assure you all that I am not going anywhere and I DO promise to always do everything I can to be fair. The serious shit has not disappeared and isn't close to over but luckily it's turned out to be a big lesson learned without the catastrophe. I'm moving ahead slowly cuz I'm cautious
-
I use SYG all the time. I dont know if he knows who I am because I have a different name on SR, but he has always been exchanging within minutes... max an hour! Just go to his home page, see his status. See what his BTC reserves are like, and be professional with him. Exchange is easy as pie! - oxyman
-
I realize I am a first time poster but I was in a transaction with SYG and he recently told me that has gotten in trouble and also has told me that he might be done for a little bit, I hope all is well with him has anyone else heard from SYG regarding this matter?
-
I placed a rather large order for btc->WU 6 days ago (2k+), was told that it would take 20-40 hours to complete. I have not heard from him in 3 days, although I have inquired about the order twice. 2 hours ago he canceled the escrow he used to get feedback and also de-listed every listing he had on SR (as of Friday 2nd of December 2011 12:28:27 AM). im starting to get realll nervous.
I have all the messages sent to/by him/me saved, as I do before each transaction is completed (after which everything is erased). this sucks :/
-
I am also in that boat, it has been a couple days for mine but he told me he was arrested and had money stolen but that he would try to pay me back dunno this is a real shitty situation
-
Not to sound like a whiner (Just look at my rants against Dramsterdam) but SYG has some major problems going on at the moment and I would suggest use extreme caution going forward. He may likely vanish.
-
I had a transaction with SUm 3 days ago that completed fine, but I have not heard from him since,. I hope all is well.
Libby.
-
I'll make things right if I have anything to do with it. Thanks for all the support. If I vanish you can bet I didn't go quietly.
I've always done the best I can by the community. I've had some setbacks and I won't lie, some of y'alls money is tied up or been spent. I'm learning a lot as I go along and I don't think we'll ever see a return to the "glory days". Past performance is never a gaurentee of future results.
I'm not some benevolent king (like maybe SR.) I'm just a guy. I have recently learned how the devil lies with good intentions. Whatever system we find that works for us in a reliable and sustainable way, I think requires complete transparency. That's something I'm striving for in my peer to peer exchange I'm still working on.
I've had to give up on the traditional juggling of MoneyPak business in order to maintain my dayjob, in which my performance has sadly suffered a lot since my popularity took off with trading bitcoins. I am hoping my focus can return to my exchange software and I can open soon a new way to buy and sell bitcoins that will automate the process and alleviate a lot of the overhead and potential for mistakes.
I'm underwater and I owe some of you some significant amounts of money. I was trying to juggle and come back but that doesn't work it only pulls you down and it just made me circle the drain faster. I'm sorry I can't keep it up and need to step back before I can continue going forward.
I assure you all I'm here to stay and build upon bitcoin commerce technologies. Anyone I owe or who has invested in my exchange and/or brand has my personal information. One or two of you, I may have misplaced some of our correspondence. Please drop me a message to remind me what I owe you if you are waiting to hear back from me personally. I am organizing my accounts better and need some confirmation about some.
I am not afraid to be a vocal real life advocate for bitcoin commerce. I have done a lot of investigation and I hope the money I've spent on these expensive lessons does not prove to be a loss. I think I am in a better position to advance my plans despite being worse off financially right now than when I started. I know this still all seems vague and I haven't had the time to go into specifics. I wish I could be more open with everyone. If anyone is interested in helping I could really use manpower and hookups on equipment right now, beyond money and bitcoins. If you are around central to southern Florida or Phoenix, Arizona, I'd be interested in joining forces.
-
You ow me "Moonlight" - 250BTC and you provided me your personal information... when can i expect my money?
-
hey you owe bcbuddii 819.97 btc. ill send a message as well through SR- thank you for the update
-
600 btc here at 2.8
-
you owe me all your bitcoins... :P jk, no debt here...
Wanted to say thank you for the excellent service you provided in the past! I am sorry to hear about your recent troubles. Good luck straightening everything out, and looking forward to your new peer exchange service.
All the best,
- miRNA
-
any alternative to sumyungai on sr?
he used to accept western union and all was fine :(
-
I'm surprised that SYG owes you guys so much money. I did several MP exchanges with him and had nothing but great service. The shit really must have hit the fan because I don't think he would intentionally rip people off, but people change.
Fuck that's a lot of money he owes. When push comes to shove, if it's the difference between his freedom and his family's security, or someone getting their btc, you know what he'll choose. It sucks to loose another reliable vendor to the dark side.
BTC Buddy and Sugar Mama are still honest.
-
Sorry to hear about your troubles SYG. I hope you can get back up and going again. I was looking to trade some BTCs today, so guess I'll have to look elsewhere. :(
-
I used BTC-Buddy the other day for MP. Very quick. Used to use SYG, but saw all his listings gone when I needed coin, so went with Buddy instead.
EDIT: don't know about western-union on the Road, but if you're going that route you could probably use and off-site service and get a better deal. I'm sure a few of them accept WU.
-
there's a thread I started at /index.php?topic=6601.0 which I was initially replying to a witch burning in another thread which started today with 20 replies and then disappeared as far as I can tell. Not everything is true, there's a few jumping on the bandwagon but for the post part it's rightfully so a hate on SYG party
I swear I'm trying to do right and the best I can at that but I've fallen on hard times and I seem to be an over-optimist. I accept full responsibility for my actions
-
I've done business with SYG in the past, had some hiccups, but SYG came through in the end and seems genuine.
HOWEVER - It is never ever OK to shuffle people's money around or take orders that you cannot immediately fill.
Currently, I'm using Sugar Mama successfully. SM's policy is that she never cashes out MoneyPak without the BTC on hand. Currently, this is who I recommend for your transactions.
SYG - I hope you've learned from your mistakes and bounce back as a continued member of the SR community.
-
So this new thread popped up saying SYG is back in business. I recommend just keeping replies here instead of starting a whole new thread, but such is the forum.
So SUMYUNGAI sent me a PM saying hes back in business, and ready to serve those with MP Codes to BTC, I'm well aware of what happened a couple weeks back, and the thread, i just wanted to start this and see if any of the vendors he owed actually got their Money/BTC back, before I even try doing business with this guy.. Any feedback would be helpful, not only to me but maybe some others as well.. so see where this guy stands
Peace! :D
-
Apparently that new thread got deleted by a mod for being redundant while I was typing this reply to the poster's freak out over my reply
Well shit excuse me, I guess what i meant to say was Thread(s) cuz there are so many in regards to this guy, I figured this thread would help newbs like me if the people that were owed money, could contest that they got their money so we know whether or not to trust this dude... If they didnt, apparently SUMYUNGAI has over 460 coins ready to sell... U dont have to be a dick tho
Wow. Your threshold for someone being considered a dick must be incredibly low. I asked a mildly sarcastic question with a perfectly good point, which is that lots of dead-end, redundant threads are much more difficult for "newbs like you" to find and navigate that relatively consolidated thread. So, if your goal is easy of finding and following information about a particular vendor, then I feel that you're mistaken.
Before you started this thread, there were exactly TWO (2) threads with SYG in the subject line, one of which only had 2 posts both dated December 3. The other thread http://dkn255hz262ypmii.onion/index.php?topic=4088.msg56517#msg56517 spans 4 pages, has over 950 views, and recent activity.
My question was perfectly justified. I'm very sorry that you had to endure my mild sarcasm, biting as it is. Now go buy some drugs.
-
That was me Freeman you point was valid.
-
Lol dude u seriously have nothing better to do... thanks for making newbies feel welcome
peace
-
I still owe almost all of that money to people who fronted me bitcoins. I never meant for this to happen but I grew too big for my britches and made some poor choices, cut some corners I thought would save everyone money and it cost me and those relying on me dearly. I cannot apologize enough for that but I am trying to make it right the best I know how.
I've never fallen thru for anyone looking to buy bitcoins with their money, and I really need to sell the bitcoins I have in order to pay anyone back anything. I appreciate everyone giving me a second chance and I understand everyone's apprehension. I'll do my best to earn a spot back amongst your trusted vendors
-
Lol dude u seriously have nothing better to do... thanks for making newbies feel welcome

::) You're new to SR, not new to life or the Internet. I hope that you find the information you need here in this thread. Trust me, keeping threads consolidated helps all of us and I'm positive the mods appreciate our efforts to make their lives easier.
-
I'm going to place an order with SYG soon and I'll update here. ;D
-
has anyone recently had a successful order with SYG?
I want to make sure hes legit again before i order.
-
I really need to sell the bitcoins I have in order to pay anyone back anything.
Seems to me you owe thousands of bitcoins to folks right here - why not just split up all those bitcoins you're trying to sell and divvy them up amongst the poor folks who you've ripped off?
I really can't believe that people are stupid enough to deal with you again, and fall for your bullshit reasoning.
Pay the people you owe bitcoins to first, then maybe I'll buy your contrition. But swinging back onto the Silk Road sucking more naive members into your little scam seems more like your style.
I need to sell these bitcoins so I can pay back the thousands of bitcoins I owe from stealing from other members here...
Edit, TL;DR: Sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeit
-

I'm going to place an order within the next day and I'll report back. I feel pretty confident about it.
-
I placed an order with him today, he initially responded but now he reads my messages but does not respond. He emptied the moneypack code and is currently unresponsive. I will post updates. I really hope I am just getting a little excited but this thread does not leave me filled with confidence. I hope to be posting his praises in a hour or two.

Have you both lost your minds? ???
-
it's a matter of letting people fix their errors. I'm sure they're willing to lose abit to establish a prodigal son, just like testers spend a lil money for the good of the community!
If i was in a position to lose money, i'd try him out. he always had good rates.

Lol... people on SR are so fuckin crazy I swear. the gummystar thread, someone selling toad skins today and now this... I'm starting to think I really dont get this place lol... yall are insane...
lmao
-
BEWARE
I had good results in the past with SYG, and he messaged me telling me he was trying to make amends and get his rep back. His rates (3.33 vs 4.00) seemed worth the risk to me, so I gave it a whirl. I have received nothing and the MP has been emptied out. C'est la vie. What I'm most upset about is the outstanding order I have with him. When this cancels, won't it effect my credit? Fuck.
-
he ripped off many buyers and vendors here to the tune of $1000s of dollars
and people are really naive enough feel sorry for him and accept a worthless apology
then these same people send him more money only to get ripped off ...sorry if I have no pity for you or your absurd actions
ONCE A SCAMMER ALWAYS A SCAMMER...Good lord wakie wakie
-
Have you both lost your minds? ???
It's certainly possible.
-
How does such a notorious scamer have 98% positive feedback? Nothing on SOS until i put it there today. The system of selling BTC on SR is BROKEN and needs to be addressed.
The system is not broken, it doesn't exist. The Silk Road was NEVER intended to serve as an exchange site. Myself and older SR members have been railing against the exchange of bitcoins on SR for months, but nobody listens because everyone is too lazy and impatient to bother getting bitcoins securely.
You want to use moneypak? head over to #bitcoin-OTC where there is a system in place to prevent fraud and where there are dozens of people there who will trade with you for a fraction of the fees charged here.
Purchasing bitcoins on SR is foolhardy for SO many reasons it boggles my mind that anyone would even CONSIDER doing it, let alone relying upon on it as a primary source.
Anyway, I told myself I would stop ranting on this subject. The Silk Road is an experiment in unregulated exchange. If people here are so damn eager to give their money away to scammers and price gougers, who am I to dampen the fun with futile appeals to reason?
-
OK Rook, that's enough out of you with your high-falutin' common sense, facts, and sensible solutions.
Consider yourself on report. :o

I don't believe he's making fun of people who got scammed that didn't know SYG was a scammer. He's making fun of the people who read this thread and still sent him a MP code. Unless you have money to burn, that's idiotic. Although it is an altruistic gesture to protect those who are less able to afford the loss.
On a side note, I think it's a good idea for established buyers to purchase from new vendors to help weed out the scammers more quickly so new customers don't have their money stolen as often. If the vendor requests early finalization from a reputable buyer, you can be pretty sure they're a ripoff and post about it in the forums to warn others.
You might as well send me your MP so I can buy some meth in time for Christmas. Me and Santa can tweak while we're delivering all the presents to the good little boys and girls. Those reindeer will be flying high for sure. I'll make sure SYG's stocking is filled with coal.
The only SR btc traders I use now are BTC Buddy and Sugar Mama. Off-site exchanges are your best bet, but are more of a pain in the ass and usually take longer.
-
Ok, I'm sorry, I just have to flush the last of this out. This is the last of it, I promise.
Before this whole debacle, SumYunGai was THE "trusted" bitcoin exchanger. He's been around around TWICE as long as both SugarMoma and BTCBuddy COMBINED. There is no such thing as a trusted bitcoin vender, there are only scammers that have yet to pull their big heist; even if they themselves don't even know it yet.
Do the math, people!
SumYunGai made out with $10000+ do you realize how long it would take to make that kind of cash as an honest exchanger on SR? it would take MONTHS. Months of tedious data entry and cash-flow issues and bitcoin volatility fucking everything up and dealing with pain in the ass customers 24/7. Compare that to a week of cashing out ATMs...
I'm sure SumYunGai didn't start out with the intention to defraud, I'd even bet he's even a good person at heart, but mankind did not evolve within an altruistic universe. We are hardwired to be selfish and exploitative especially within contexts lacking relational accountability like the one here on SR. Given the right scenario, every one of us would have gone the way of SumYunGai. This is why we develop communities with systems of accountability.
As far as bitcoin exchange goes, SR is NOT that system.
I'm not even going to go into how easy it would be for LE to penetrate an SR BTC exchanger.
Ok, I'm done.
Variety Jones, please lock me away.

And that right there is the reason why the danger isn't from new btc/moneypak vendors, it's from top-rated 'trusted' btc vendors. The more successful they are, the greater the temptation to do a runner and make more in a day than they could make in a year - and maybe even come back under another name and start over and fuck even more folks over.
Unfortunately, you can't escrow human nature and greed.
There is no such thing as a trusted bitcoin vender, there are only scammers that have yet to pull their big heist; even if they themselves don't even know it yet.
Quoted for truth.
Rook, you'll be assigned a cell in B-wing, and assigned gardening duties forthwith.
[edit for proper use of quote tags, how do they work...]

ya I see SYG is trying to make another comeback cuz ppl are using him again but considering SYG ROBBED ME for almost $4000 just OVER A WEEK AGO and he robbed about another 8000$ from other people, I dont think people should be so quick to forgive and forget. all i read into this is he spent on the money on crack or meth and now is back for second helpings! I cant tell you who to deal with man, but would STRONGLY advise trusting this guy!!!! I usually never trust people but i made the mistake of trusting him and had to sell my fuckin car to pay off the money he stole from me since it wasnt even all mine in the first place. and to add insult to injury, he made a thread in the forums admitting he robbed me and tried to convince everyone i was LE and deserved it or some shit like that. ridiculous! anyways BEFORE ANYONE USES SYG PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO YOUR HOMEWORK AND ASK SOMEONE WITH EXPERIENCE AROUND HERE! actually, better yet, DONT USE HIM! YOUR GONNA GET BURNED, JUST A QUESTION OF WHEN! there are enough other options, no need to give your money to him to play with as he pleases!!
-
Look back at the forums and find Peopleb4profits' posts and read them carefully you will read in his brags that he got BTC for the MP codes he received when he sold them to Sumyungai before claiming to report them all stolen. That is not a coincidence. So it is very possible that they are one and the same. It's called "The Long Con" watch "The Sting" it is very easy to show over 250 transactions as a seller if your listings are for BTC0.01 and you have a buyer account that buys all your listings and leaves perfect feedback. The majority of buyers went out of escrow to get better rates and never completed a transaction. I am sure he would court vendors by fulfilling their smaller cash orders knowing that at some point in time they would trust him and drop the mother lode of BTC on him and he would make and walk away with a tidy payday for doing nothing. This happens on Wall Street all the time, Silk Road, wherever as long as money and greed are involved.

As a total newbie who just had his moneypak card drained by SumYunGai can I just ask why he is still allowed to post in the marketplace? Can't anything be done to at least prevent him from ripping people off in the future even if the people in the past are screwed? >:(
-
So if not him, then who IS trustworthy?
total newb is now afraid to exchange :-(

All of us who got screwed by SYG have to message SR and let him know 1-that he scammed us and provide some details and 2- let him know that SYG is back again and pulling the same shit. Sr is way too busy to keep up with all the scammers, we all gotta do our part and let him know and if enough of us complain, I have faith that SR will do the right thing and block his account and take his coins!
-
yup, what he did to wumg00 was unforgivable!!
Thanks a lot MrGrey, I appreciate the support, especially from the vendors I respect such as yourself!!! 8)
We all got to work together to keep the scum and scammers off of here, its impossible to stop them completely but as soon as someone starts scamming, we gotta put an end to it before it gets out of hand, like it did with SYG and we DEF have to find a way to stop these guys from coming back, especially under the same name with a high reputation still which will just trick more mew ppl who arent in the know! I truly love this place and most the ppl here are amazing but it will get ruined very fast if everyone has to worry about everyone else scamming them! If the vendor is new; STICK WITH ESCROW and if you get scammed, SPREAD THE WORD ASAP!! DONT BE EMBARRASSED, everyone in this game has been hit at some point in time so your not alone!!! Help your community and it will grow, neglect it and it will die!

i couldnt have said it better. there is no "SR Investigative Unit" or the like that is out trying to stop scammers, unfortantely the job of policing SR is the responsibility of all of us. If something shady happened and you think you got scammed you should come in the forums immediately and post it. (on a silimar note, just post one topic, going to every topic on the board and ranting about a scammer will gain you zero credibility) Alot of scammers rely on the fact that it will take time from their first scam to when they get outed, if we can somehow shorten the amount of time they are actively scamming we can certainly reduce the money taken.
the sad thing is that with a case like SYG where he was a trusted vendor, there is just not much you can do. i dont think anyone saw this one coming, and now after it happened everyone is in shock asking themselves how and why this could have happened? and what can we do to stop it from happening again? those are two good questions that i dont have an answer for.
the worst part about the SYG thing is it seems like nothing has been done at all, he is trading btc again and relying on his 98% rep to screw ppl now, if you look all his listings are back up and I was shocked when i saw that so i clicked on one to see if it was just an old one but it was updated on 12/16 and he was online today so he is at it again. I wish SR would stop this guy from using peoples trust and silk road as his personal ATM.

I tell ya, if someone stole Four Thousand Bucks from me, you better believe I would be tracking that bastard down...Rambo style. What a fuckin piece of shit man. That really sucks wumg00. Maybe I can do some biz with you very soon and help you make some money bro. Sorry about people being bastards bro. Keep your head up bro. 8)

Supposedly the road to hell is paved with good intentions. Though SYG had good intentions originally I am sure, he let his habit and greed get the best of him. We all fall sometimes, but it seems as though once he fell, he joined the ranks of scum.
-
Action was taken and his account has now been shut down. Thanks SR.
Peace,

Sumyungai just ripped me off too!
I bought a Moneypak with $115 on Friday night, and that same night he sent out a message to all of his previous customers saying that he had just restocked on BTC.
I submitted an order to him with the Moneypak code, and just about 15 minutes ago when I messaged him asking why it was taking so long, he promptly cancelled my order and is not returning my messages.
God dammit, I just got an order set up for 20 norcos and have been going through withdrawals for a day now...
Somebody find this guy's address so I can tear his asshole in half please.

haha thanks LR, he will get his I have no doubt, you pull shit like that in this world and its only a matter of time before you disappear or end up a bad memory I have full confidence in this. Its the same with people who rat to the cops in prison, they might got get killed by the people they rat on but someone will get them and I believe the same to be true with SYG.
a big thank you to SR to kicking his sorry, scamming ass out of here before he did even more damage!!!!
-
YAY SR! It's about time someone took this shit heel out. but keep an eye out for new BTC-->MP Vendors popping up randomly...

http://silkroadvb5piz3r.onion/index.php/silkroad/user/15116
His account may be deactivated but he is still allowed to login. Been checking his page everyday and he has been seen that day. I am not sure what's up with this SumYunGai fellow still checking for MP's to rip off a few more.
-
Hey oiltemp , SumYunGai is most certainly scamming, I have thread in the tech support section talking about what my situation is
-
If SYG doesnt have listings how is he scamming?
-
It's not that inconceivable that he is scamming through PMs alone, some people ARE that gullible and don't necessarily check the forums
-
+facepalm+

He also has access to accounts cos he implemented the iphone gateway. I think that will be the second wave of his scams. Can the mods send out a message to all users to not use this hack on SR ?
The way i see it is he will wait till funds are flush in the accounts of some of these users who use his gateway on SR and then move out the bitcoins. This is a definite possibility. One of the users has been affected by this already. I think SR should be pro-active in this case.
