Title: Considering selling ENTIRE digital movie collection on HD
Post by: cnXAUn6t568fEXK on August 12, 2011, 01:52 pm
I am a film professional. I have a growing collection of 4000+ DVDs including the IMDb Top 250 and all movies from the 1001 Films You Must See Before You Die collection. They range from BW 1920s through to modern day blockbusters. I'm a cinephile so I watch a movie a night, every type of film. I've started ripping my entire collection at high quality and adding metadata (poster art, director, genre, description etc.,) for importing into my iTunes & AppleTV so all my movies are on hand. My list is growing steadily, but I have around 2TB of movie data at the moment and its bound to quaddripple.

Basically, I hate downloading .avi's off BitTorrent with shitty or low quality files and then be pressed with a lawsuit notice from the legal team of a studio. All movies are ripped from the DVD I bought or hired.

I'm considering making a seller account to offer to ship an external hard drive of my collection of movies. All movies .m4v iTunes/iPhone/iPod/iPad compatible with MeteData, ready for import directly into iTunes all on an external Hard Drive shipped to you.

So for a few BTC you can have an entire lifetime collection of movies. Is this a product that users would be interested in? I'd be keen to hear your feedback on the matter. I know, when I was at filmschool, had I come across this I would have jumped at the chance.

Attached is a list so far, it's just a sampling not the entire but already around 115 titles.

My two cents -
Seems like an easy way to install a malicious file. Sends my hacker flag through the roof.

If you're afraid of malware, start up a Linux live distro (Ubuntu etc) and check the HDD.

I was speaking of more then just malware - backdoors can be installed through many methods. Some are not that obvious ;)
Linux can have a backdoor installed to my friend. Yes, I realize you could create a red network - disconnected from internet - and nothing allowed to be attached - install what ever Flavor of Linux suits you and tromp through it but just seems like A - a waste of time B - Pointless risk
Could just be me but - go rent a Seedbox and purchase an invite to a private torrent community (from the actual site not from here). Congrats you can now grab thousands of 720p HD movies - and tons that are just high quality.  *shrug*
But I guess I am paranoid.

Peace,

The problem with torrent sites is that you don't get the obscure stuff I'm looking for. mostly mainstream crap.

torrentz.eu searches a bunch of other torrent sites. It is worth checking out if you want the obscure stuff.
