Title: Laptops & High-End GPUs
Post by: Megatherium on June 28, 2011, 02:44 pm
It'd be great if someone was offering high quality laptops (ThinkPads!!!) or mining worthy GPUs (5850 and better) and not for the overinflated prices we see for drugs. Good thing with these goods would be that it's not illegal to ship them around the world. I don't care where you got them from. Original packaging is nice but not a must, functionality is though. C'mon you little buggers with your five-finger-discount: show me what you've got! :D

This sounds like an excellent idea.
I support this notion. :D

Hmm.. always be careful. How would you know they didn't load it with a bitcoin-thieving virus. Or even simpler a small root-kit with key-logger or screen shot program.

Security is a must for well-being to be maintained.

Good point, a bit paranoid, but still a valid point. On the superficial level you'd wipe everything from a livesystem. Getting the schematics to Thinkpads isn't hard and parts that don't belong tend to catch your eye if you've been handling these babies for quite a while. If you want to go a step further you testrun this thing through a handbuilt router analyzing the traffic to watch for anomalies. Is that 100% proof? No, it can never be and the threat scenario is one I'd only consider if high class criminals or intelligence agencies were after me. So from the realistic point of view: if they wanted to do something like that to me specifically there'd be easier ways. If the laptop was listed it'd be an expensive shotgun approach. And maybe I'm just in it as a reseller.
So all in all: nice point but take a valium and reconsider :D

I've worked in security for 10+ years, It's my nature to be paranoid ;)  You have a point, though I just wouldn't trust it from experience. I wouldn't mind some high-end processor and graphics cards though.. I miss my chip-jockey friends. Would love too get two Intel Xeon X5690 and throw them into EVGA Classified SR-2 Workstation Board. But at commercial price that is going to take a while.

I have an ipad2, and i seriously think ipads are retarded, this is my 2nd one, i traded the last one for a laptop.  A relative gets them for free from his company so thats why i have it.  It's literally BRAND new, 3G and all, i might be willing to sell it but whoever is interested has to contact me because I know I dont want it but i feel bad selling it, so the price has to be right.  It's 16 GB, and i have a stand for it.  Ill attach a photo,
