Title: this forum's security?
Post by: Admit on June 18, 2011, 02:59 pm
I'm super high so I was reading through the Terms of Registration while making this forum account! :D

Here's what we all agreed to...
" The owners of this forum also reserve the right to reveal your identity (or any other related information collected on this service) in the event of a formal complaint or legal action arising from any situation caused by your use of this forum."
Basically everything we do is grounds for a government "legal action" ;/

"Please note that with each post, your IP address is recorded, in the event that you need to be banned from this forum or your ISP contacted. This will only happen in the event of a major violation of this agreement.

Also note that the software places a cookie, a text file containing bits of information (such as your username and password), in your browser's cache. This is ONLY used to keep you logged in/out. The software does not collect or send any other form of information to your computer."

oh come onnnn, really? How secure is this forum against attacks that it can be considered safe to store all this information of the SR users? D:

Who actually reads through that stuff?

Looks like ADMIT admits that they read the full ToS.  Bravo and Kudos to the one who actually reads before signing!

Other peoples code is rarely 100% understood.  SR is placing a lot of faith in Simple Machines by using it, and therefore so are we...

at least it's open source so people can inspect the code.

Also, whatever it was that made you so high that you read software TOS, I may want to try as well :)

I think people should just be aware that anything you do on this forum or anywhere on the net can be read or leaked to people you may not want to read what you write. Security is a personal responsibility and no site can be trusted.

Um, excuse me Mr. Junior Member but then what the hell is the point? Your argument is baseless. The whole concept of Tor is pointless.

I believe what Rake was getting at (not to put words in your mouth) was anyone can sign up to this forum, so you still have to be careful what you say in case you drop yourself in it. Just work with the idea that there ARE LE on these forums going through every single post just waiting for you to give a little too much information away. I think its the best practice here.
