You guys have no idea.  I deposited half a coin almost 13 fucking hours ago (5:15 UTC) and it only has 1 confirmation on my SR2 wallet..  I wanted to get my order in before lunch in hopes it would be processed and arrive by Saturday.  Now I am royally fucked because I have no faith that I will see my funds before the end of the day.  I'll be lucky if the coin shows up by Sunday.

Wouldn't it be no surprise at all if all of the deposits miraculously went through when the value of BTC bottomed out and then shot up $40-$60-$80+?

Fuck man.  I'm just a nigga wit a rocket launcher..

Seriously though, SR2 is fucking up massive. After I get my coins I'm thinking of heading to Agora. The Road was a beautiful thing.  SR2 is just people taking commission for shitty service while stripping us of our priveleges 1 by one.  Sounds like LE to me.  How American..  Is the DEA running the show now or what?  Either kill BTC or SR2, kill both for all I care.  but good luck stopping the dark web and street dealers.  You're the ones putting us in danger you greedy bastards.  Take some mushrooms and sort your life out.

They'll never win the war on drugs because this world has never been drug free.

Where the fuck is my money man??  Let's just end it right here, right now.

Your account shows that you clicked "Refresh Deposits" shortly after writing the rant above, and that your full deposit was accurately reflected in your balance within minutes. Why did you not post here again?

We suffered one hour of downtime, and eight hours of Bitcoin delays. Given the scale of our market, this is not unusual in the darknet.

Records also show that your pending balance was already completely repaid when you wrote the above rant about us being "greedy bastards". You're welcome.

Silk Road Discussion / Unanticipated Marketplace Downtime [UPDATE 2]
« on: April 02, 2014, 07:54:14 am »
UPDATE 2: The Bitcoin system took longer to sync than we expected. All deposits/withdrawals are flowing quickly again. If you do not see a deposit in your account, click "Refresh Deposits" on your account page. Apologies again for the inconveniences caused.

UPDATE 1: The marketplace is back online, we apologize for the delay. Bitcoin transactions (deposits and withdrawals) will take two hours to be fully operational again. Contact support if a deposit or withdrawal made during the downtime does not show up in your account within a day.

We are aware of the marketplace being offline and are working on restoring service. A surge in sales, deposits, and withdraws today have strained the system. This downtime was due to an upgrade we are making to handle the load, not due to any external event or attack.

This post will be updated when service is restored, we apologize for the inconvenience.

And if he's NOT the culprit, then I think at the very least he needs to address the community and apologize for the lies and to attempt to give a rational reasoning behind those lies. Which, I do not believe is possible because I believe there is no possible rational explanation for his lies other than guilt.

We are slaving to repay every user here, including you. Your constant accusations only discourage an exhausted staff.

Please read all of my posts in my "Fuck You Defcon" thread in the Vendor Roundtable. Also, read all of my posts disclosing the full details of the attack. Our system was at fault. Transaction Malleability was an initial suspected cause, and may have contributed to the vulnerability, but ultimately the way our "Refresh Deposits" functionality was implemented allowed this attack to happen.

This has all been publicized many times. Stop vending here if you're going to constantly accuse us of being dishonest. Everyone here is receiving repayments.

Don't dig up old issues which have been responded to many times.

We're doing our best to repay everyone. I will die for this community. Vend, buy, or fuck off.

We are working hard to resolve all open support issues as quickly as possible. As part of our continuing efforts to improve response times, we are expanding the size of our support team.

I am happy to announce that a trusted member of our community has accepted an offer to join our team, under an assumed name.

Welcome, Alias!

It's clear that since you gave into greed this easily, you never shared our dream.

Your pending balances and escrow are now at zero, and will be diverted to partially repaying users you scammed.

There will be no mercy for you. Hope your OPSEC has been flawless.

(9 BTC scammed, 4.2 BTC in pending balances/escrow. feel free to repay the remaining 4.8 BTC to your victims yourself.)

Bump for my staff.

UPDATE: The maintenance was completed this morning with zero downtime. This extensive update to our architecture opens the door for a big week of updates. We have much more flexibility now to push features safely and quickly. Great work dev team.

Community,

On Monday, March 17th, 2014 the Silk Road marketplace will be offline for two hours from 11:00 to 13:00 UTC.

Updates are on their way. Improving the pace of repayments has been our priority. We are aware of the areas in which we are lacking, and are striving to strengthen this organization to better serve this community.

Panic, riot, and troll me personally - but don't touch my staff.

Is all of this pending escrow money incorporated into this? Or is all that money going to take longer than the 90 day period to be paid back?

All funds marked as "pending" are funds affected by the attack. Yes, pending escrow is incorporated into this.

Silk Road Discussion / Repayment Update 2014-03-12
« on: March 12, 2014, 09:24:28 pm »
Staff is excited to announce very positive news regarding the anticipated pace of repayment.

On behalf of all users who lost funds in the attack: Thank you, recent buyers. Thank you, active vendors.

Your purchases and sales are allowing us to repay at a way faster pace than we anticipated.

When we committed to repaying every single person affected by the attacks, we expected this process to take a very long time.

We are thrilled to announce that sales over the past seven days are already up to 61% of the volume we were seeing before the attacks.

If sales continue at the current pace, all victims of February's hack will be completely repaid 93 days from this post.

Repayment Update as of 2014-03-12:
Partially repaid: 30.8% of total victims
Fully repaid: 13.2% of total victims
Sales volume: 61% of pre-attack weekly sales
Average commission: 5% (3% lower than before attack)
Estimated date all users are repaid if sales continue at this week's pace:
June 13th, 2014

Important Reminders
1. This estimated repayment date is not a promise. We are repaying everyone as soon as we get the funds. If sales increase, everyone will get paid sooner. The rate of repayment is directly tied to the pace of sales, and the commission earned on each sale. We will be adding the ability for vendors to donate a higher commission soon, which hopefully will improve the pace further if many vendors adopt it.
2. We cannot release exact user counts, exact BTC owed, or sales figures for security reasons.
3. All escrow balances are currently being manually reviewed and resolved by staff. This is very tedious, and will take time. Our goal is to have all disputes settled within this 90 day time frame. We also plan to launch automated tools for this. Your escrow balances are safe.
4. The full amount owed to users is not the full amount lost to the attack. A large amount of funds stolen were our marketplace's commission earnings. We will not release any exact amounts in order to help protect everyone's anonymity from analysis.
5. We are continuing to improve the repayment algorithm to spread commissions in a fair and minimally-traceable fashion. If you have not received a payment yet, this does not indicate that you never will.

May our actions speak louder than our words. We are committed to repaying every victim.

Regarding Known Issues
1. To users seeing negative balances: this is an issue we are aware of. Do not panic, we know who you are and see the problem on our side. There is no need to contact us directly, we are working on a safe fix. If your balance still reflects a negative amount after the fix, you should reach out to us at that point.
2. The login CAPTCHA is being cached in some situations. If you are unable to log in, right click on the CAPTCHA and select "view image". That is the true CAPTCHA you should be seeing. Type it in, and you will be able to access the marketplace.

Staff is working very hard behind the scenes on a few exciting updates you will see released this weekend. Expect a planned downtime announcement on Friday.

We are fighting for you very hard behind the scenes.

Thank you buyers, thank you vendors. Let's get our community completely repaid.

Defcon, will a plan be put in place for the pending escrow situation?

Yes, but it is a low priority until the majority of pending balances are repaid. We have no shortage of people to repay, and redeeming escrow will only spread the market's fee earnings thinner.

Still waiting to be repaid about $1000 bucks though :( Any way of expediting this defcon?

Repayment occurs upon each sale, unfortunately the only way to expedite repayment is for the marketplace's sales to continue to grow. It's a long road to earn the community's coins back, but not as long as we feared before witnessing this community's commitment.

Silk Road Discussion / Brief Downtime, Report Update (UPDATE 3)
« on: March 05, 2014, 09:46:59 am »
UPDATE 3: Withdraws and deposits are now functioning as intended. The exchange rate is still frozen and is being looked into.

UPDATE 2: Withdraws and deposits appear to be severely delayed following the first update. Staff is investigating. No coins are lost, they are simply stuck. Please be patient while this is sorted out.

UPDATE 1: Nothing abnormal found. Withdrawals re-enabled. Staff thanks you for your patience.

The marketplace just experienced a brief loss of connectivity. The team responded quickly and the site is responsive again.

IMPORTANT: We take all abnormal server behavior very seriously and are operating with extreme caution given recent events. We are disabling withdrawals for the next 3-4 hours as a precautionary measure while we investigate all logs and confirm that this was only a connectivity issue and nothing more. This post will be updated once our evaluation is complete. This will be a standard process moving forward, try to postpone any riots until the four hour point.

Report Update

Buyers: a heartfelt thank you from our vendors and staff. Yesterday sales spiked to levels unseen since before the attack.

Pending Balances are repaid each time a user makes a purchase, with an unpredictable delay to confuse any analysis. Record sales yesterday resulted in record repayments. Again, a heartfelt thank you to all of our loyal buyers. You are one strong community, and the repayment would not be possible without you.

Regarding any anger surrounding our delayed weekly repayment reports: We are fans of distributing coins before reports. You will see a report soon, and the projections are looking very good.

Fighting for you.

Working very very hard over here. Thank you for the positivity, glad the algorithm favored you. There are still many waiting to be repaid. We'll be fighting for this community no matter what the nervous amongst us accuse.

Silk Road Discussion / Planned Maintenance: Feb 25, 22:30-Midnight UTC
« on: February 25, 2014, 08:58:21 pm »
UPDATE: Maintenance is complete.

We will be implementing infrastructure improvements from 22:30 until midnight on Feb 25th, UTC time zone. These improvements will require a brief downtime to implement safely.

Staff appreciates your commitment to this community. Sales are way higher than any of us anticipated. Now that we have a week's sales data, we will post an anticipated repayment timeline publicly soon after these infrastructure improvements are completed.

This post will be updated when the upgrades are complete.
