Title: New scam from Sc0ut, not Scout
Post by: NorCalKing on June 12, 2013, 04:10 pm
Sc0ut    Dear SR Buyers and Vendors,

Its Scout here. SR admin and also forum moderator.

I have had some personal problems in my life and my financial situation has hit all-time low. As a consequence, I am sorrowfully writing this plea message in the hope that some of you that I have helped over the years might consider returning the favor. I am trying to raise $10,000 to pay off some urgent debts which must be settled or sadly my life will be in danger. All loans payed to me will be paid as soon as I am in a financial position to do so. I foresee this as being no longer than 3-6 months but currently can place no firm guarantee on any time-frame.

You may send any loans to my SR username via the main SR site. This way I can associate a username with the amount that was loaned and will help to keep a record.

Best Wishes,
Scout

P.S. Special thank you to DPR for giving me the go-ahead and allowing me to make this request. Where would I be without you? :)

This guy failed in the fucking introduction, saying Scout is an SR admin and forum mod when none of the forum mods are SR admins. Not even a good try.

Haha, stupid. First of all, Scout is Scout. Not Sc0ut.

Secondly, this is by the far the dumbest scam yet, because asking money to be sent to Sc0ut's "username on the main site" will inevitably get money sent to either
Scout (the real account) or if someone's stupid enough Sc0ut (the fake account and since it will be in SR's system.. the scammer would last 2 minutes before SR shut it all down and froze any funds).

Thirdly, and most importantly, we all know Scout. We all know that he's racked up more then $10,000 in debt to the mafia and the triads, not to mention his gambling addiction and penchant for prostitutes and blow. Last I heard Scout was actually closer to $60k in the red. So this imposter Sc0ut couldn't even get that right  :P

Rule of thumb for SR, if someone asks you for money, don't send them any!

This goes for you PIN and *Any* other info as well.
I cant believe this needs to be said but please don't help the scammers!

And take to the almighty forums to warn your fellow community members.

You will never get a legit PM on the forums or the market site asking for your BTC, be that exclusive membership to SR2 the inner circle, to help DPR buy a new server (because they are short of money) or to help a mod out

All scams, all BS

what a pathetic attempt at a scam!!! what kind of an idiot would ask for $10 000 right off the bat! no one is going to believe that someone would ask strangers to help pay off $10 000!!!! LOL
you would think he would have asked for like $100 or something more realistic that people might consider lol (I still wouldnt)

I assume they were hoping the reader would be pretty stoned out of their logical mind to get this to work.

Well when I checked the blockchain after some of the previous PM scam attempts to see how many people had actually sent their coins I was quite shocked as to how many people had fallen for them.

I'm under the impression that they just send coins to themselves to make it look legit.

If only, the opportunity to 'invest' in SR and some of the scams specifically targeting vendors caught a few people out I'm afraid.

Like the old saying goes . . .

A fool and his money are soon parted

If one is dumb enough to fall for these feeble attempts, they weren't meant to keep their money for long!

I agree. Ive yet to feel sympathy for many of the people who get scammed in these scams. Especially the ones that are just fucking ridiculous.
I'll admit, the Investment Scam was kind of well thought out (for th first few hours).. but when people were falling for it day 2.. that was just ridiculous.

Really? I agree some of em are idiots but I do feel sympathy for them. If you have ever been ripped off or had something stolen that feeling you get , that helpless  mad at yourself feeling stupid  but most of all helpless. It fuckin sucks to have something youve worked hard for or spent lots of time to make and to just lose it in a flash and have nothing to show for it has to be the worst feeling and I wouldnt wish it on anyone but the people who inflict these feelings.

Just how I feel

The sad thing is they must be getting enough people each time to keep them coming back time and time again and that can only mean the greenest of green newbies are getting taken for a ride. Combine that with the phishing scams via the hidden wiki and a lot of newbies are having a harsh into to SR.

G,day SSBD....Are you serious, people are falling for this? Maybe they are naive  to say the least, but you wonder how these people are scoring, without getting arrested. And certainly it takes a little intelligence to stay a step ahead of L/E and the Postal services, but if you can use PGP then you're certainly clever enough to know a scam when you see one, do you think? These noobs should realize for a start, nobody from SR, staff would name themselves fake or not, there's your first alarm bell. Then don't go on forum, number 2,
I'm incredulous, could you give me a ball park idea how many people got hit?

I hoestly think you should ask DPR could we all donate a little BTC thousands of us, we could make you Mods, rich over night, and show are appreciation for the stirling work done by yourselves.

You will never get a legit PM on the forums or the market site asking for your BTC, be that exclusive membership to SR2 the inner circle, to help DPR buy a new server (because they are short of money) or to help a mod out

All scams, all BS

What is this "SR2The inner circle" you speak of? Is there another SR? I'm probably making you laugh with all the stupidity, but still...

Sshhhh, the first rule of the inner circle is do not talk about the inner circle.  The second rule of the inner circle is DO NOT talk about the inner circle.

You just broke rules 1 and 2. ::)  SSBD gets a free pass because he's a mod on SR2.

Sorry for the delayed response I was logged into SR3 the inner inner sanctum, fortunately there isn't much modding to do in there because the only member is Limitless talking shit to himself, quite amusing really that he hasn't figured out the only reason we created SR3 was to get him off these forums.

And to answer your questions NorthernStar an alarming number of people do get sucked in yes, the phishing scams alone probably get 20+ people a day as more and more people try to find SR after downloading Tor, first place they go looking it seems is the hidden wiki which we all know is not to be trusted.

You can send your thousands of donations to my mod fund addy in my signature block, I'll be heading down to the Ferrari dealership after lunch  :P

As samesamebutdifferent stated, there is no "SR2", nor an "inner circle". The only URL you should ever be using is silkroadvb5piz3r.onion; any other URLs you receive in messages etc. are phishing sites that will lead to your account being compromised and your funds withdrawn.

I think if you change it in your settings so it doesn't show when you are online or not, you won't get these PMs.  I do this and have never once gotten one of these scam PMs and have been around to see at least 10 of them circulate.  I actually feel a little left out of the action, maybe I need to change my settings and join the fun.
