Title: SR Down?
Post by: CiscoYankerStuck on June 06, 2013, 02:10 am
I haven't really seen any topics on this recently, so...

Anyone else having problems loading up SR? I haven't been able to even load the login screen in 3 days.

Bleh, thanks for the feedback.

I'm sorta stumped.

Anyone know what could prevent me from connecting to SR while most other .onion sites work just fine?

Running fine for me too.

What method are you using to try and access it?   Tor BB?... if so, when you updated, did you unpack the new update in the same place as the old? This can cause all sorts of weird bugs.  You're supposed to install new updates in a new location first, delete/move the old, then move the new one to your default location...

No issues for me. I'm using Tor BB. I haven't updated in months. Last time I tried (on Windows) the security update message didn't go away so I've decided fuck it. I know its better to update but I've been fine so far and I honestly tried my best so whatever.

Good God 3 days?! You sure you're using the correct URL? SR has been blazingly fast and up without fail for weeks now.(POUND ON WOOD).
Double check the URL, probably an incorrect character or something in there.

Working across the pond - but certainly seeing more 3 digit numeral capchas

that makes me nervous, so I hit refresh until a normal captcha comes up.

The 3 character captcha issue is occurring as a result of the recent site hardening efforts and it is not a security risk so the cause of it is not being hunted down as a priority. If you try to log in with the short captcha you'll just get a 'login failed' error, but just refresh the page until a full length captcha becomes available. :)

I had at least 50 three number captchas in a row even while changing TOR identities and refreshing constantly.

DPR may have been changing something on the site; I presume that's what would cause that many 3 digit captchas in a row.

Absolutely nothing wrong at my end. Not a single three letter captcha in sight and it's running like a dream. That's such a weird error you're getting. Hopefully someone with some technical nous can suggest something.

Thanks for all the replies everyone.

I've been playing around with different possibilities, no luck so far.

UPDATE: I'm back on the road! I think it may have been due to using the obfsproxy TBB vs the regular TBB.

Does this make any sense to anyone who knows more about Tor?
