Title: Kudos to Scout and Libertas for their help
Post by: jackie9191 on May 07, 2013, 02:32 am
I have been looking at all the crap some people have been throwing at the folks who make SR run and I think Scout and Libertas have done a fabulous job in keeping everyone on an even keel. They have been patient and courteous when putting up with some extremely rude people and I for one think they deserve a shout-out. When the coin starts moving again I'm going to throw some their way and I would hope some of you all do the same. It's the least we can do for their efforts. Viva la SR!

We appreciate the support!  It's understandable that when issues arise, people get a little excited (or very excited, in some cases), but we're all in the same boat here together.  Libertas and I can't actually fix the glitches, but we can do our best to answer questions and try to reassure everyone that the world (or our little dark section of it!) isn't ending!

Thank you for the encouragement - it means a great deal, especially on days like today! :)

I second this post! I posted about the delay in a couple different topics. I felt a little bad because I didn't expect they would address my posts. :-/ I was just trying to get feedback from others, and I know they have been responding to posts non-stop, but they took the time to post a response anyhow.

I hope I didn't make your work more tiresome, scout or Libertas! I very much appreciate your efforts  ^.^

I echo scout's sentiment entirely - we certainly do appreciate the support! :) Thanks folks!

Who are you Libertas and where have you come from?

Who are you Libertas and where have you come from?

I don't recall asking you the same questions when you became a mod, Lim. :P ;)
I'm someone that's been here since late 2011, and there's a thread in the Roundtable which will tell you a little more.

Haha that's because I never had a double personality! :P

Have I argued with you before? Are we going to get along?

Touché!

A bit of an absurd question that though, I have to say; I wasn't aware there was anyone left on the forum that you HADN'T argued with. 8) Haha. And I'm a fairly likeable chap, we should get along just fine. It's all happy families eh? :P

This is true there isn't many people that I haven't whipped my cock out to is there... Hmmm. Happy families indeed. :D 8)

+1 to this Lim.

I think that the moderators are literally the fucking glue keeping this place together. And thats during NORMAL times. Last few weeks have been a rollercoaster ride. And these guys have held it down. I can't stress this enough. They put in so many hours, putting out fires, battling scammers, keeping things organized, helping every single forum member with every single isssue.. it's really unreal. I think we can't thank them enough.
Scout I know pretty well and consider him a friend, and he never fails to deliver. Libertas, although new to the "mod" scene, is obviously an old hat and also seems to have jumped right in hitting the ground running. You must not like sleep Libertas.. I can't imagine life got any EASIER since becoming a mod :)
And then we have SSBD, also works his ass off.

I'm not a vendor, but if I was a vendor.. I'd certainly set aside a monthly amount of complimentary drugs for these guys. After all, this is Silk Road.  ;)

Appreciate the kind words, colorblack. As far as sleep goes, I love it. I love it so much that it wants nothing to do with me.. And I'm heartbroken because of it! :P

But no, I'm honestly honoured to have been given the opportunity to contribute in this way; this community is more than just a place people can come to talk about drugs etc., it is a place where freedom reigns supreme. The freedom that we have to publicly speak about subjects that we would otherwise be restricted from doing is incredibly important, and not just for Silk Road but for the future of freedom itself. We cannot allow ourselves to be trod on and censored by those who are of the opinion that we are not fit to think for ourselves.

I truly believe that what we have here is an essential key to the birth of the future free world. We take power from governments by operating on the black market, and we gain power from each other that helps us break the bonds that are put in place to restrict our freedom.

This community has empowered so many people, whether they realise it or not. Deep down, we all desire freedom. It is hardwired into our genetic structure. When we get the chance to experience that freedom - by using Silk Road to purchase what governments do not allow, and conversing freely here on the forums for instance - it sets off something inside us that cannot be restrained by any police force, nor any legislation.

These forums mean so much to me because what they represent is an essential part of my personal vision of the future that I desire for everybody - a future that is free, fearless and unrestrained.

I completely agree. Could you imagine being them? CONSTANTLY lurking, all parts of the forum, just looking for questions that need to be answered?! They both have helped me today as a matter of fact, and were beyond courteous and professional. Props for sure! Also, how to add or subtract karma???

Agreed. I have said it before and I will say it again, my best friends in the world are right here on these forums.

"It [Silk Road] is a place where freedom reigns supreme. The freedom that we have to publicly speak about subjects that we would otherwise be restricted from doing is incredibly important, and not just for Silk Road but for the future of freedom itself. So true, freedom is becoming extinct and this is one of the last outlets that we can talk, not even therapists have to keep certain secrets (they are bound by law) and in reading about that 14 y/o's mom who ratted him out the other week...who can you trust these days...I can trust you guys and only you guys.

Many thanks to the mods, admins and every user. I wish that i could meet you all IRL and shake your hand, but for obvious reasons that wont happen. I hope to see you all in the next life. Be easy and keep this thread going!

I can't speak for scout, but personally I like to wear a cape and a mask while I'm working. It just makes me feel like I'm making more of a difference. :P

As far as your question goes, the ability to give somebody positive or negative karma will be given to you at 100 posts. You then simply click the new [thank] or [discourage] option underneath their avatar to award positive or negative karma.

I have to make a small correction there; you can trust NO ONE here. Everyone should be acting at all times as though everything is compromised in order to ensure that they do not slip up with their security measures. It is a well known fact that when you get more comfortable with something you get more sloppy with the measures you take to protect yourself from the dangers that may be presented by it. As DPR him/herself has stated back in June, 2011:

Hi everyone,
Things are going really well here.  There are many new buyers and sellers working well together, our servers are secure and humming along, and you may even start to feel comfortable.  DO NOT get comfortable!  This is not wal-mart, or even amazon.com.  It is the wild west and there are as many crooks as there are honest businessmen and women.  Keep your guard up and be safe, even paranoid.  If you buy from someone without reputation, get to know them really well through pm, and even then be suspicious.  Unfortunately it only takes one bad apple to spoil the bunch, and there are bad apples out there.  We've received some threatening messages and just want everyone to stay alert and careful.

QFT.  Hear, hear!

The Road is also totally non-violent, which I love.  Violence robs people of their freedom, and this is one of the worst things about governments who ultimately control people through force.

I don't think I have Scout but I am sure you have thought about how much you'd enjoy the prospect at some point or another.

And lol, MariaSabina SR may be non-violent but it certainly has it's own internal politics...

hahaha, in your dreams, Lim.  :P

but really, it always surprised me how passionate people were either in their admiration or their detestation of you ... i haven't had a problem with you in the 1+ year that i've been here, and don't anticipate any future troubles either.

yeah, i don't know about SR being non-violent.  that would be great, but i've seen far too many stories from the likes of Bathsalt Rambo than to believe that there isn't violence here.

You know it. ;)

And yeah I know it does me too, I do enjoy it though because it comes without really much effort. 8)

And yeah of course SR has it's dark element, it's just hidden via PGP and off-site chat lol.
