I was starting this thread with the subject "We're soon to hit $180" but by the time TORs fat ass took its sweet time we just hit $180. It's not even 4am in New York yet. NYT print article on btc will hit Wall Street today. Boom. When investors start pressuring big money fund managers to get into this, and they're forced to for fear of losing their jobs.. then.. the party REALLY starts. 8)

Its all good if your a vendor but I made an a couple of orders last week im still waiting for and the price of BTC has gone up $80+ cant say its making me to happy.I wish it would slow down a little.
-
But the prices of drugs here are pegged to the dollar though. So your $100 dollars worth of drugs will still cost you $100 dollars worth of drugs (but you will have less BTC). You see what I mean?

It's the other way around. You spend $100 on bitcoins. Say the value of bitcoins goes up 20%. You still have the same number of coins, but the dollar value of it goes up to $120.
For example, I had .2 coins leftover from an order I made a few months ago. I let it sit there because at the time that was a few bucks. The dollar value of coins went up so much that I was able to order some acid the other day with just spare change from a previous order.
-
Be nice to own some coins, I'm still waiting to be verified with the bank! This delay is killing me

What I mean is that, yes the ammount in Escrow stays the same but with the price of BTC going up so fast the vendor has made an extra $180 on the coin since the order was placed thursday.
I just want it to slow down a bit.
-
When I joined a month ago BTC's were $40ish a pop. I'm bewildered about the current price :-\
-
Everytime I've delayed buying bitcoins because i think it will go back down, it never does.
just keeps going up :/
-
All this rise in btc prices is discouraging me from buying anything. I don't know if I like it.
-
its all a bit silly really ;D
-
$200 by the morning, you can bank on it!
-
^Not quite 200 bucks, but I agree heatfan I hate how much btc are now. If only I had forseen this, and bought a shit load of coins sigh lol my 13 dollars i once had froma leftover transactions is now worth 53 yes lol! g of oil please
-
i bought 10g of molly for 8btc about 3 or 4 weeks ago. now that i've collected the cash from selling it, i've broken even to what 8 btc are worth now. BTC is turning into a commodity rather than a currency. i was going to buy an ounce, but at this point i think i might make more money by just holding on to my coin.
we need to get Litecoin accepted here on SR as soon as freaking possible. don't get me wrong, I am very happy about the growth of BTC, but for our little SR economy here we really need a slightly more stable (at least for now) currency.
-
Lol Litecoin isn't more "stable" than bitcoin but I agree more options would be nice.
-
Now at $189
Like I said, it will be $200+ by the time I wake up in the morning.
Night Zzzz
;D

This just makes me wish I'd gone with my original plan of, "every purchase I make, I'll put 5% of the BTC into a savings fund", in case they ever blow up...
I'd be a happy millionaire by now >_<
Then again, just as easy to lose it all. I would've probably panicked and sold early, anyway, like at 50 or 100.
-
wow - 240 - wish I hadn't cashed out at 30...

Yea I know, I don't even want to log in to my SR account anymore and see the
Total Spent : $65,000
Total Purchases : 7
If I had sold all the drugs I bought (instead of smoking them) I still wouldn't have made as much money as I would've on bitcoin investing.

Tell me about it dude. I stopped looking at my SR buyer stats ages ago to avoid getting depressed. Thousands of dollars vanished with nothing to show for it except some awesome highs. Look on the bright side, we never have problems buying from vendors as they'll take one look at our stats and give the VIP treatment, throw in freebies, faster shipping times, better communications then someone with
7 months on the road/2 purchases/$37 dollars spent/50% Auto Finalize rate/50% refund rate. LOL.
But yeah, a friend of mine used to big on hitting the casinos. He made a fuckton, he lost a fuckton etc. I went to Vegas with him once and obviously they were giving him the high roller treatment with a massive suite and all kinds of comped goodies. His casino host was in the room partying with us and I casually asked the host in a semi serious way, "Out of curiosity, what are my buddies stats?" and he goes "I can pull them right now, you really wanna know?" (looking towards my buddy), he immediately was like "NO! DO NOT tell me, it will fuck my mood up for the entire weekend".
-
What REALLY burns me, is that one time I got scammed for >฿[it has 3 digits and I'm embarrassed], and at the time that sucked balls but I recovered, but god DAMN I could buy a car now! A nice one!
I just hope the scammer didn't hold on to the coins either >_<
-
I'm really hating the crazy spike in btc price as well. I've been hesitant to buy anything, including btc thinking it's going down. How much longer can this go on for?
-
And were back down to $180 again
-
And were back down to $180 again
I feel like we've seen these sudden drops a few times in the past few days, but it immediately recovers and begins its absurd climb again.
-
Its been said else where that MtGox is under a dDos attack and people are panicking and selling so is that why the trading engine is lagging?
Mtgox trading engine lag: 4588.90s
Time to buy I think
-
Ugh. Of course I ran out and bought $400 worth of coins at lunch time today when they were ~$230/coin and now theyve dropped back to 180. I see many people attributing the drop to MtGox getting DDOS'd.
I pretty much know jack shit about money markets and investing and all the economic and political things that effect exchange rates... could someone explain to me why mtgox being slow translates to the value of the btc lowering? I should start learning these things I suppose. I realize they are the biggest mover of btc, but I still dont understand the connection between their issues and the value of the coin. Enlighten me please, educated ones,
