Title: DELAY WITH BITCOIN DEPOSITS
Post by: newbie102 on August 27, 2013, 06:09 am
**********************************************************************************************************
I've taken the liberty of hijacking your thread newbie102, hope that's ok.

There clearly appears to be delays with deposits to SR btc accounts as evidenced by the posters in this thread. This issue has been brought to the attention of DPR and the admins so rest assured they are working on resolving the issue as fast as possible.

If your deposit has not arrived in your SR account after 12 hours and you have checked the blockchain to ensure the transfer has at least 9 confirmations please submit a customer support ticket to SR support via the market site informing them of the issue.

Response times from SR support will undoubtedly be affected by a sudden increase in support tickets so please bear this in mind.

When delay issues have happened in the past the customer support board has become clogged with people creating multiple threads all about the same issue, with this in mind can you please keep discussion re the delay in just this thread, creating multiple threads does not help resolve the issue.

You also cannot get assistance for issues such as this via the forums, forum moderators have no admin privileges on the market site, you can only get assistance from SR support admins.

Hopefully an official update will be posted soon and the issue resolved.

SSBD

Hi there, I transferred money into my bitcoin wallet today. I've done this a few times in the past without hiccups but today I'm seeing everything looking good on blockchain.info, 30 confirmations but nothing is yet showing up in my wallet on SR. I've contacted the sellers of the bitcoins who have said from their end everything looks good and that I should contact the wallet provider.

Has SR been having any issues today syncing with the bitcoin system (if that's the right terminology),
thanks
newbie

No issues that I am aware of, if they do not show after 10 hours contact SR support via the market site and have them look into it for you.

I am in the same boat, its very frustrating. I transferred my coins at 11.30am to my SR account and still no love and its nearly 5pm. Missed gold box cut off times and the missus will be home soon and she would have a fit if knew what I get up to. Damn! Usually takes one and half hours max so fuck knows whats going on, at least I am not the only one. Oh well what can you do? Just wait and pray they show I guess. Let me know if your coins come through and I will do the same. Fingers crossed!

Your coins will show up, whenever there are delays with deposits or withdrawals the forums light up like the 4th July with people posting panicked distressed messages and no matter how much reassurance they get they still panic.

Just remember there have been delays before and everyone got their coins eventually so even if this is a a broader issue your coins are not lost into the ether, they are just delayed.

Please also remember that you cannot get assistance for delays via the forums, moderators have no admin privileges on the market site, the only way you can get assistance is via SR support.

In the same boat as everyone else by the looks of it

going to wait a few more hours then send a support ticket.
what could be causing a delay?

also my last transaction on my block chain is a transaction to an unknown address, anyone know what that might be? or if thats normal?

this is the first time ive had an issue

Clearly a broader issue then, I alerted DPR and the admins to the delay issue hours ago so I would expect an update sometime soon if they haven't already resolved it.

Don't panic people and please try to be patient, it will get sorted out.

I am having issues with my deposit to Silk Road too. Been over 8 hours, 44 confirmations, but when I check my blockchain it looks like someone has 'taken' it even though I sent it to the right address supplied by SR Blockchain states this is an unauthorized transaction!

Is this something that can happen normally then the $$ turns up a few hours later in SR, or should we go to the support on Silk Road?

It's been over 12 hours and 53 confirmations since I deposited. No BC in SR account yet. Support won't reply to my question. What's going on?

11 hours now and still nothing. Just my luck, it was biggest deposit so far and typically this has to happen. Deposited yesterday with no problems. WHY thats all I want to know. Someone, somewhere must be playing games. There has to be a reason, what are the the best guesses? Hope for the best prepare for the worst.

My best guess is that there have been a lot of upgrades implemented on the market site just recently with all the changes to the feedback rating system and there are some bugs that need ironing out.

my deposit was pretty big as well and i am bummed that this has happened. a weeks worth of salary just gone! my blockchain info says that I am sending money out to several different accounts. but my account info states taht the amount of btc i have is still the same. this is getting fairly creepy.

This is the only thing that's worrying me as well. Blockchain is telling me that funds are trying to be sent from my SR wallet to other addresses. Not sure what the hell that means. Hanging tight and waiting for an update from the admins for now..

I have a significant amount tied up in this as well. However this isn't the first time this has occurred. People need to understand the system more to understand, and not freak out. What you see is your coins going through the tumbler this is normal. Something has occurred with the updates I am sure. DPR is sleeping or whatever he does when not on here. When he figures it out the coin will be there. I don't have the tech knowledge to give an explanation, but I know it will be fixed soon. How soon I don't know nor do I care as long as it gets fixed. I will probably will miss out on my order I wanted, but I hope not. If so whatever it will not be the last time that listing will be available.

Thanks Mods for notifying the best party to figure this dilemma. I am going to sleep, and will figure out what is the deal when I wake up.

I really hope its just some bug with the new software but that should not effect the banking side of things, surely the most important part of this whole operation, peoples hard earned money that we trust to you. Now I am not rich, just trying getting my personal stash, I enjoy shopping here and while the money if lost wont sink the ship it seems strange to say the least that the money wont clear after its been sent to my SR account. 12 hours + says to me its a fairly big problem. Banks do go down for a hour or two here and there but big delays signal something is not quite right and we all know this site has powerful enemys with a lot of time and energy to attempt interesting ways to fuck us over. Taking peoples cash is a good first step.

Same boat for me - not impressed.

Seems suspicious that a 'bug' only seems to affect the coins from reaching user accounts whereas SR has no problem moving (tumbling or not) the coins around their accounts.

Also, given this has occurred before, why hasn't the 'bug' been fixed?

Not suggesting conspiracy, just questioning the quality controls on the SR system development.

Just for everyone's info (and to help with folks like myself who actually need meds in a timely manner because we have chronic illnesses)..  When did you send an email to support and approximately how long for them to respond?  I sent a message about an hour ago, yes I know my hopes are high but, like anyone I enjoy smooth, hassle free transactions.  Just wondering your timeframe(s) for resolution as I'm sure a lot of us are.  Thanks for your response it's very much appreciated.

i dont think a hack is the blame.. we shoulda heard something by now. some of you are prolly getting worried because you see the coins go in and then back out to random places. like stated a few times already, that is OR SHOULD BE the tumbler doing its job.

Then they have also confirmed that the EXACT amount has left SR and gone to someone else and nothing i can be done. I told blockchain that it was SR i was dealing with (they know about it but is confidential)

correct, which means it all worked out right on the blockchain side. your coins did not leave sr, they went to your address and then into the sr "pool" if you wanna call it that. something is up with sr and they are not showing up on the user accounts.. some are saying they started to show up so have some patience i know its hard but im sure some are just missing a few coins while others are missing 100+

I just looked at blockchain transactions, and it has my sr address, as well as loads of other addresses transfering money to one address today. My 1.4 coins were transferred out at 14.04. Is that it then?

It looks as if many of us had our BTC transferred, and then transferred again into another account without our consent, aka hacked/stolen

I'm not sure if SR will or can do anything about this at all

jen, it simple terms, it works something like this.

wallet sending coins--->wallet receiving(your sr wallet)--->random wallets in the sr Tumbler system.

however at the end. the coins show up in your sr account. this is to try an clean the traces from the coins some.

omg jen and others that are saying the same thing. Your muppets!
thats whats ment to happen!!

BTC doesnt go from directly to your account! it goes to your SR BTC address then it gets sent from that address to the tumblr where it is sent to many different addresses before landing back in your SR account!
this is for your own stupid security.

Hi,
Jen could you confirm that you've actually communicated with blockchain and they have confirmed that SR has been hacked, sorry to be a pain but in one of your posts you question if this is a hack or not? This makes is seem as though you've not communicated with them and in that case your not helping by spreading mis-information.
Am I right that only MellowManace has actually received credits into their SR wallet and also is the only person to have received any communications from SR?
This is a bit fishy, cant understand why MellowManace has received credits if SR has been hacked and everyones credits are being stolen, wy blockchain is telling jen that SR has be hacked and moneys gone if credits are being honored; and why there's no statement from SR

No offence meant, Im just trying to find out whats actually happened to my money.

Also, I don't think its true that SR has been hacked or they would have updated the accounts page to say not to deposit any bitcoins. 12hrs + and they've not told their customers to stop depositing... nah doesn't cut it for me.

Another victim here.... 8 hours ago and 43 confirmations.... NOTHING! :-(

It's so fuckin' Murphy... I was planning to buy sth. today since several days now. Then,  when I want to, SR blows up again. Well, obviously I'm not the only one...

HOWEVER, it cannot be realistically good if everybody opens up a ticket. Or that I even need to raise a ticket to get attention. Hell, this needs as much attention as it can possibly get - asap. This is not nothing.... it's kinda yellow-alert situation.

We should get official feedback by now.

Me and the person who started this thread got their money. I have no idea what happened today but something did happen. All my previous deposits went into my account with in 1-2 hours. After 5 hours I started to stress and started looking on the forums where I found this thread. After a couple more hours I contacted support. Couple more hours later support got back to me. Next time I checked my account the money was there. My blockchain was past 30 and said 1 transaction so I know is was not stolen just misplaced so to speak. Only the people in charge know whats going on but like the last post said if criminals were stealing or attempting thieving a warning would have went out to members I would like to think. But I got my money and am very happy. I hope everyone gets their cash, its the worst feeling in the world to feel like you have been robbed believe me I feel your pain.

2 hours almost to the minute for me. There is no word from anyone in charge on the hacking issue I for one would love to know more. With my limited understanding hackers would have to be able to crack your username name, password and your pin. You would think they would target seller accounts with big money not us small time end users. Could be a software issue as stated on page 2 of this thread. My problem according to support was that I used a archived bitcoin account. Very confusing situation to say the least.

Cheers Mellowmanace for confirming that for me, it seems as theres a 12hr + back log [it was me saying that SR would of posted a warning by now  to stop further deposits, kinda logical :) ].

Also, where are the forum moderators? Surely they could calm this situation a bit? I have lost quite a bit of respect for this site after this episode, 80+ posts in this thread and over 600 views with no moderator response... serious???; and to be honest without some kind of feedback from customer support I wont be depositing again... I mean who in their right mind would lose $300 without an explanation of any kind and then re-deposit again, nah, not happening...
I was thinking of becoming a seller on here too but after this I think I'll stick to cold hard cash thank you.

Jen, could you message your blockchain contact to ask if they could post this thread to explain the situation from their end?

The moderator samesamebutdifferent was here right at the start of the thread and helped out quite a bit, he kept me calm got onto to the people in charge to look into it. After I got my money maybe they thought everything was cool. Some people are saying due to software upgrades there is a 12 hour back log of deposits to be processed. I felt the same as you, I thought fuck this shit I will ring my street guy and go back to the old way of doing things. Have faith and patience if you can. I hope more funds clear shortly for all involved. If I didnt get my money I would have walked away. It was all good for me so it should be all good for everyone else im thinking

I have been a SR member for over 16 months and haven't made a deposit for some time until tonight. Luckily, I saw the following and wondered why I couldn't manually get a new address. Is the following correct? If not, something is very wrong.

Warning: Read this before making a deposit to your account

Your PIN is required to make purchases, withdraw funds from your account, and make important changes to your account. If you forget your PIN, or give it away to a phishing site impersonating Silk Road, any funds you deposit to your account will be irretreivable.

Before depositing any funds, you should change your PIN and password on your SETTINGS page. If you are unable to change them because you've already forgotten them, you must create a new account and try again.

Once you are ready, send your deposit to this address:

---------------------------------------------------- - I have removed the address.

It's been 13 hours as of this writing and 98 confirms, still no BTC in my account... Per the message sent box it states that I sent my issue to support 3 hours ago, it also shows it in bold, if I'm not mistaken that probably means unread.  I'm hoping to get my funds soon but, I'm in limbo wondering like everyone else.  I counted almost 30+ separate people experiencing this so I doubt that support is not aware of it.  Come on SR get it fixed we're all getting a little stressed out!

That was my point to Jen except I was trying to be a little more diplomatic  ;). All this mis-informing is just making the time it takes for credits to enter your accounts even longer. I guess all of us have contacted customer support and every time somebody says its been hacked, anybody who reads the thread panics and contacts customer support too.. if 600+ people have read the thread, that potentially adds up to alot of tickets SR has sort through, thus making credit time even longer.

P.S I'm eddietek, posted in this thread already except its logged be out and I couldn't get back in... weird.

Yeah, it's been almost 13 hours for me, and still nothing...but, you all can take comfort in the fact that, even though you haven't received your money, you don't suffer from my personal brand of stupidity.  At around the 8 hour mark, I figured there was just delays with that particular transaction, so--yep, you guessed it--I made a second deposit!  Awesome, right?  Now I have 2 transactions--each of around 4 BTC--that haven't shown up in my account.  No one really to blame for that second transaction into an already problematic situation, except myself--and now I've doubled my (temporary, let's hope) losses (I had just had a vendor kindly agree to make a special express shipment for me, so, I was anxious to get my account reloaded).  Shit, it's almost like there's some correlation between drug use and diminished critical thinking ability.  Alert the scientists.

I'm sure they're working hard on the situation; still, I would love to hear some words of reassurance from the SR Powers That Be dispelling the hacking rumor, if that is in fact what it is.  However, no choice really but to wait and hope that I didn't lose my deposit, and then, for good measure, throw some extra cash into the bottomless pit.  However, I'm optimistic that the delay is just that--a delay--and that, if there is something more sinister at work, SR will make this right, though I know time is an issue for many of us, with the weekend fast approaching.  So, good luck to all of us!

Hmm...  I didn't get the archived address message, just an updated balance  - my support ticket wasn't replied to so I just deleted it.

I HAVE CREDITS!!!!!!!!

deposited at 11:30 finally got them at 17:50 and a message from SR saying.....

You have recently used an archived Bitcoin address (XXXXXX "I have removed the address for obvious reasons"....) to deposit XXX BTC to your account. This address could be retired at any time. It is strongly advised that you use a new bitcoin address for future deposits.

Best regards,

I have no idea what that really means but I thought i might put a few minds at rest on this forum :)

Quick question for everyone.  Did you remember to click "get new address" next to your SR account number before you made the deposit?  Just curious.

NOTE TO SR

Don't put the blame on your users by saying we've all used archived addresses, what all of us???!! And how rude not to talk through the support forums that are here for this exact purpose. Thank you for sorting it, but you handled this situation very poorly. This mishap has had a serious impact on the trust I have with SR as you completely ignored us. You have policies and systems to rectify problems such as the forum and ticketing system, yet you ignored everybody and that's unacceptable!

:( a very sad day, as I wont buy from here again; and in all honesty it's shown that there's no come back/rectification when funds go missing, at least I can go and give my local dealer and give them a good kickin if he takes my money then ignores me...  :(    (I don't condone violence, except for thieves)

I think a Bushism is called for here: "There's an old saying in Tennessee — I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee — that says, fool me once, shame on — shame on you. Fool me — you can't get fooled again."

LOL, you get my point!

I am having a withdrawal issue.  I just sent a bunch of coins to my wallet, and it hasn't even registered the transaction.  Nothing in Blockchain.  This was a pretty large withdrawal 1k.  Always freaking out like I didn't get the address right or something.  Disturbing to say the least.

I don't have the option of generating a new address, which I think is very strange. I have spent over 700 coins in the account, so I am not new to this ;)

Me stupid... I think you should keep lurking, The answer your pursuing can be found by click the "If you want to deposit click here" link. All I did was try and explain that, moron!

It took nearly 7 hours until my deposit showed up on my account. At the same time I got this message:

Ok, my SR account address was already archived? Why the hell is there no notification on the account page about this?

Whatsoever. I thought everything is working again and withdrawed all money to my main (offline wallet) address but even after an hour I still cannot see at least a transaction.

@ Silk Road: THIS SUCKS and have to be prevented at all costs!

EDIT: Seriously I want my money RIGHT NOW! Send out that stupid transaction. It's an automated process and not a stoned guy doing everything manually.

Same here: once my btc eventually turned up in my account, I immediately withdrew from SR, and....

Unsurprisingly, it's not made it to the address I withdrew to.

As with some in this thread, this kind of behaviour makes it hard for me to trust SR. To clarify that: not a suggestion that SR is doing anything untoward, just that they're not acting in a timely manner. SR isn't some good-natured non-profit, it's a commercial entity that both makes commission on sales and acts as a bank. Just because it operates in the grey/black markets doesn't mean it should treat its customers (i.e. us, buyers & sellers) unprofessionally and its customers should not tolerate it. Unfortunately, other that taking our money elsewhere, we have very little recourse.

Actually, it should INCREASE trust in SR. Crazy thought right? No. Usually when this happens it's because of a spike in withdrawals. SR's security feature kicks in when withdrawals trigger a security alert. Imagine if a hacker figured out an exploit and tried to withdrawal a massive amount of coins?

Anyway, My withdrawal is finally showing on the BlockChain.

Glad your withdrawal has escaped SR. Still waiting for mine - it will turn up, just the longer it takes the lower my opinion of SR gets.

Yes, the presence of security features can increase trust - as with online banking these days. However, this type of feature needs to distinguish between valid and fraudulent actions. To simply freeze withdrawals when a frequency threshold is reached just tells me that the security isn't up to date with current technology and that SR isn't geared toward withdrawing your own money.

Also, if a 'hacker' can exploit the withdrawal function enough to trigger the security feature then they're likely to exploit the feature admins use to release withdrawals.

While some are happy to trust SR as is, I doubt I'm the only one whose trust has dropped.

Jesus christ people, calm down and chill out! I understand your money is very precious, but SR is a luxury and these things take time! It is not just a single easy transaction, and it's not meant to be. This is for your safety. I see people worried when their money goes from their deposite account to an unknown one LOL please lurk more and learn how SR works and what tumbling is before you fear-monger and cause mass panic.

To update my post on the first page, my bitcoins have come in this morning at 9AM PDT after being first confirmed 8PM the night before, meaning it was being moved around for 13 hours before landing safely in my account. Yes this time is longer than I have ever experienced, but I personally decided not to start a ticket because I trust the process and I have learned that there is a certain unreliability when dealing with tor services. If it made it to 24 hours, then I would be worried. I too received a message from SR staff saying i used an archived account to make my deposit. An easy problem to fix, simply click on "account", then "get new address".

Please guys, if you aren't well educated on how the system works then please don't spread misinformation, you really aren't helping. If the blockchain confirms you sent to the correct address, it is very unlikely it will end up in the wrong place; the bitcoin network is a very accurate one. Also it is unlikely your account was hacked, but if you have reason to believe it was, then this would be a reason to contact support too.

Good luck, and I hope everyone's BTC comes in soon!

When time permits I would appreciate an update on why we are having these delays?

Based upon the email about an archived address is this like a warning that if I keep using this address my bitcoins may be lost in the future?
I was under the impression any address I have used up to this point regardless if it was the active one would steal lead back to my SR account.
If I use a new address each time moving forward will this not be an issue, and show up after 6 confirmations?

I personally was a bit worried because I used a different function which didn't send the coins directly to my SR address. I was not able to track my coin via the regular block chain, but the function did work. My coins are safe, and have already been spent 8)

Clarification would be nice. I trust the SR system, but delays would be nice to be aware about if known. If not known at least an update on what occurred.

NOTE TO SR

Don't put the blame on your users by saying we've all used archived addresses, what all of us???!!

Not every user received a message stating that they were using archived addresses. In any event, we do recommend in the Buyer's Guide that users should use a new address for each deposit:

http://dkn255hz262ypmii.onion/wiki/index.php?title=Buyer%27s_Guide#Getting_Bitcoins

Quote
For user's making their first deposit and for users that haven't made a deposit in a while, your account page will have a link that says "Click here to make a deposit". The page that link leads to is where you will find your SR wallet bitcoin address. After your first deposit your address will be displayed right on the Account page itself, and beside it will be a button that will allow you to generate a new wallet address. We recommend using a new address for each deposit.

All support tickets received an answer - I saw to that personally, so I know that all tickets were responded to, and all affected users that sent a message to SR Support regarding this issue were advised that they could get back in touch with us if there were still any issues with missing deposits or withdrawals.

There may have been a delay of 12 hours+ but given the number of tickets received they were all handled as quickly as possible, and within the 24 hour time-frame set out in our policies. We actually try to keep tickets under 12 hours, but when they spike like this it can take longer to get through them.

It's not archived in SR.. we believe it's archived in the Bitcoin network.

All the message means is that the sending BTC address is one that comes from an exchange/whatever that may use one-time-only BTC addresses.

Did you happen to transfer coins from Mt Gox? Your first address is usually deleted and replaced by a new one when you send out BTC.

SR is just telling you that this address MAY be retired at any time. It's a security feature.

So I used blockchain to send the btc to my sr account. Thats not a temp wallet.

Anyhow it took 1-2hrs for the deposit to make it to SR. Soooooo my question is, do I need to use the "Get a new address" link on my SR account page due to the archive message I received and the slow transfer delay?

Is it ok to create a new address with btc's in my account?

It is fine to create a new address with btc in your account yes, just try not to create a new address when you already have coins on the way, a lot of people seem to do that for some reason.

You normally get a response from SR support in 12 hours or less, if there are issues affecting a lot of people that time can blow out to 24 hours, it just depends on how busy they get.

If you have submitted a customer support ticket you should get a response soon.
