Title: Question about SR messages... Possible bug...
Post by: 1mIcedout on August 12, 2013, 03:26 am
Ive noticed something strange with the PMs I have been exchanging with a vendor on SR over the last few weeks..

The messages I have sent were encrypted and asked specific questions that were answered, but still show as being "unread" by the vendor..

Could this be a bug or is there a way they are opening their messages without it showing as being "read" ?

Being able to read a message without it showing as "read" would be handy for a vendor that does not want to answer the question asked..

Any ideas what could be going on there ?

That is weird... I don't know of any way for them to view them without opening them.  Maybe being in stealth mode might have something to do with it? Either way I'm not sure, but will mention it to an admin.

Okay, have an answer for this... it looks like if the user clicks on the senders name, instead of the message title, it will then bring up the box to reply where you can still see the sender's message below.  I don't think the vendor is doing this intentionally, and since in theory, it is creating a totally new message, it will not mark the last message as read.

Ahhh ha...   Thanks for the reply cirrus..

Yeah Im sure it was not their intention at all. It just had me wondering what was going on..

Dont really like that they can read a message without it being marked as read though...

Having the message being marked as "read" is a confirmation to the sender that the receiver has read your message without the need for them to reply..

Being able to read messages and have them still show as "unread" could be used to avoid answering questions ect..

Just seems this could be used in a bit of a sneaky way by other not so honest vendors..
