lol... are you making them write it 100 times on the chalk board too?

Maybe also have them confirm their payment to you in a thread that we can check and match to actual approved orders?

*Facepalm* when 1 mod contradicts another. inadvertently. I might add

Cirrus was just not aware of the temporary measure DPR and I have put in place to manually register vendors.

Under normal circumstances no admin/mod will ever ask for direct payment. However, as the automatic feature is still in development, it is either go against protocol and manually register vendors, or halt registrations until after the feature is turned on.

Yes, that is my bad, but that still doesn't overcome all the other clear signs that this user (who was listed as a "newbie" and not a Global Moderator) was not legitimate.

The point to this entire thread is to remind the members to please don't fall scam and ask a lot of questions.

Huh, didnt know one existed.

Silk Road Discussion / "SARRGE" scammer
« on: December 19, 2013, 09:36:31 pm »
I am aware there was a member posing as a moderator under the username "Sarrge".  They used the 5 blue bullets under the moderator's name to pose as him and copied his signature.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE take extra time to look at these accounts!  A moderators name is always a bolder red color with the blue bullets underneath AND an avatar! Not just an avatar. Also pay attention to the post count. This user only had no posts... that should be a red flag.  We also will not ask for you to just forward bitcoins to an account.  Please don't fall for these scams.

SR should close for a week for every holiday in the guise of "maintainence". Although nobody will argue that the site needs major work, the timing is utter shit and is obviously just so Admin can have a vacation.

Truth is DPR just didn't want to pay us time and a half for working the holiday.

:)

I knew it, fucking Ulbricht is still at the helm and a tight ass as ever! lol

No, if he wanted us gone he would have just.... ohh my :o

Off Topic / Re: So...what's the deal with the 50-post requirement?
« on: December 19, 2013, 02:04:54 pm »
I created a KB article that mentions the 50 post rule for new members http://silkroad5v7dywlc.onion/index.php?action=kb;area=article;cont=33

Also, yes, we implemented this to control the spam on the forums.  Being on TOR and everyone sharing the same IP does not allow us to ban/restrict individual users by their IP, so it is difficult to control the bot accounts that are created for the sole purpose of spamming and advertising on the board.  On the previous site each forum use to be overran with hundreds of spam post daily and it was out of control.  This is one of our mechanisms we can use to prevent that from taking over the forums.

Have you sent a message to Customer Support yet?  Unfortunately they are the only ones who will be able to help you with this.

Silk Road Discussion / Re: Should Silk Road BAN all PORN Vendors?
« on: December 19, 2013, 01:33:36 pm »
Is porn illegal? no ... is selling porn illegal?  no.  Is selling porn illegal obtain illegal yes.
So if the guys selling it are hacker and its stolen accounts or something maybe.

^This.  Why would law enforcement spend their time trying to identify people paying for access to porn on a TOR marketplace?  Unless the porn is CP, or the accounts they are accessing were obtaining illegally like cracknback said, I can see no reason why any LE would pursue them.  There's nothing to charge and it would be an enormous amount of effort for something they can't even arrest the person for.

As long as the items aren't on the list of DPR's prohibited items (http://silkroad5v7dywlc.onion/index.php?action=kb;area=article;cont=11) it will be allowed to sell on the market.

Silk Road Discussion / Re: How do i acces old SR forums?
« on: December 19, 2013, 01:24:11 pm »
There's a link on fbi.gov.

Seriously though, we moved over A LOT of threads and things we felt were important and put some of those posts in the knowledge base section of this forum which can be found on the tabs above or by clicking here: http://silkroad5v7dywlc.onion/index.php?action=kb

If you're looking to get access to view personal messages or something I'm afraid those are all gone.  I remember reading somewhere that the site was even overdue in payment by a month but it remained open up until recently.

Life without the possibility of parole.

If not it will only be because he has no priors.

I believe the U.S. federal system doesn't have the option of parole. :(

Product Offers / Re: Selling my vendor account
« on: December 19, 2013, 03:40:27 am »
Vendor account sales are allowed, only if they go though the marketplace.

^^^ This.  If an account is sold without transaction being done on the market the vendor account will be demoted.

Silk Road Discussion / Re: Lost money because of Autofinalize
« on: December 18, 2013, 03:43:42 pm »
Please help me SR staff.

I just lost a lot of money, because auto finalize have been implemented from today.
I had an order from a scammer vendor Schizofreen, from the 26 th november. Who have been  auto finalized now, even though i found out he was a scammer.
I have been trying to get my order canceled for a long time, but no respons from support, or vendor, before now....
I had no choice to dispute or extend after this update. I could even log in for the past 4 days to do so.

Is 17 days a bit short for autofinalizing?  And why no start from today, after the updates, from countdown to autofinalize

Is there no way to get my money back??

The 17 days was how the previous market was setup, and the clock ticks from the moment the order was placed. It wouldn't make sense to implement it from the day we turned it on, it has to be based on the order itself.  Although, I share in your concern that if the order was not fulfilled that you should have had the option to place it in resolution before the auto-finalization took over the transaction.

Support is doing their best to react and reply to all messages within 24 hours, and I'll see if we can address this issue with orders that were past the 17 days that auto-finalized.
