Silk Road discussion / Re: Canceling Orders

I had sold some items when the btc was around 16 then it dropped to 11 or under. I lost my shorts. I honored everything, I had some big orders during that time. Luckily, by the time the btc's were released and I waited a couple of days, i sold them for around 15 (the highest its been since it was 16) So, I feel that I made out really good. Just like now, it bounced back somewhat. it hasnt corrected to the low 13's like it was but at least its not 8..

Biker, this was already posted on the mybitcoin thread. When we make up forum threads it just uses up resources. Its always good to check to see if something is already posted. That way we dont have multiple threads saying the exact same thing..

Just an idea for future reference..

Off topic / Re: SOS invite?
« on: August 05, 2011, 09:46 am »
The problem with the SOS invites is that if the invitee screws up, it affects the inviter.e (Meaning that if the invitee does something to get banned, the intviter could get banned as well. So, it would have to be someone you either now or who can trust you a bit..

you guys might be ok.. This was just barely posted on mybitcoin.com

From the desk of Tom Williams, operator of MyBitcoin.com

For immediate release.

As you have probably noticed, MyBitcoin.com had been down for almost a week due to an unfortunate event.

On Friday of last week we noticed that one of our pooled holding servers was missing a large amount of Bitcoins. After a prompt investigation we realized that the security of our SCI (Shopping Cart Interface) system had been breached by an unknown attacker.

Our response was rash, but necessary. We simply switched the system off until we could have system-wide forensics performed. The forensics took some time, as the system is quite complex by nature.

After weighing all of our options, we have realized that we have no option but to go into receivership. We will settle all accounts with a online claim process that we are currently in the process of working out.

We will release more detailed information about the security breach, the claim process, and our balance sheet in the next few days.

Tom Williams

I wonder if the selloff yesterday was the scare of mybitcoin or was the person that hacked it selling his stolen btc's.?

Rumor mill / Re: Aromatics - selling 10mg Fentanyl legit??
« on: August 05, 2011, 02:38 am »
There is a chance customs grabbed it. Every time I ordered it was here in like 6 days after order, average shipping time was around 4 days. but things aren't looking good because A. his listings are down. B. not  responding or vague responses. He hasn't responded to my last pm and I know it was read.

Hoping that every thing turns out ok....

I got a question..Does Mt.gox and Trade Hill communicate with each other? I mean, does the btc move the same on mt.gox as on trade hill?

The damned post office sucks!!!.

The main problem is that I bet 10 percent or less of all buyers actually come over here. there are less than 2k registered users here and almost 40k on the market

you are right knives, hedging should resolve most of these issues. The only problem is that you have to hedge all or none. So, when I have a listing where you can release btc early to get a better price or whatever I lose quite a bit if its set to hedge. SR explained why, its the buy/sell difference. Sr did say that they are looking into making the option to have one item hedged and the other not hedged.

But, 99 percent of the transactions should be hedged and it really doesnt matter what the btc does.

A HUGE THANK YOU!! I sent you a pm too.. Thanks for those that have contributed. It takes a lot of time and effort to be on the forums. Not that I expect anything, but it sure is great to see that appreciation. I really do appreciate it and  im sure the other mods do as well..

Security / Re: Recent Kidpron bust LE methodology?
« on: August 04, 2011, 04:22 pm »
It easily could have been tor. Remember, they were all uploading and downloading pictures and videos (sickos) and I know that even thru tor, it will somehow unmask  you when you do that. So, if tor was used, im sure that hey not only had moles, but were able to find them because of the uploaded/downloaded items...

Try and download something with tor, it gives you a big message saying that you could be unmasked by doing so. Thats why I never upload or download programs via tor.

If you go to Mt. Gox they have an application calld mt gox live, i think, It gives all the transactions in real time. It was kind of cool seeing my transaction take place. its very detailed, it gives you a second by second update.

The weird thing is that the btc has been quite stable the last week or so. Thats why I think the guy over at that bitcoin scam is selling off hit ill gotten goods...This will make the market very unstable until all of his btc's are gone. It looks like hes got 1.4 million worth and that will for sure make the market to huge swings.

The ironic thing that I, too, never cancel orders.  I have a macbook pro without a mouse, only the touch pad. if I hover over a clickable item for a tad too long, it will click it for some reason. I accidentally did this yesterday, it was just before the sell off.

I hope that the buyer didn't think i canceled it on purpose, i would never do that (purposely). I have said it publicly that I never would. Now, Im sure that is what he/she thinks that I did. shit, now I feel really bad..

My guess its held up in customs. I know that customs can hold packages up to 3 weeks or so. Plus his country might have a flag for closer inspection..

Mseller is a good man and honest. I would buy from him in a second....
