Some staff have requested time off and I would not like to build up a large backlog of work for them on return if I was to manage the site alone. In addition, this gives the development team time to test new feature implementations and fix an array of issues without stressing about the server status.

Bc they probably had a bunch of coins in escrow when the price dropped so much. 18 btc was worth about $20k the other day. They were worth about $13k the very next day.
It is going back up now so maybe the vendors can get their feet back
We did. And we all lost much money. BUT! Now all the consumers are using buying these cheap bitcoins and giving them to us. By the time we cash out those coins will have doubled or tripled in value

BTC price goes up and down, but this both affects customers and vendors so i dont understand all the worry
Its all speculative, but It's a double edged sword. but the fluctuations happen so quickly that it's really hard to judge but it really makes less of a difference to the vendor since the fluctuations are so rapid. If it fall a ton, hold your coins for a week and it's back.
