Title: How do I buy and use bitcoins
Post by: savlon4 on January 10, 2013, 11:09 am
Okay Im registered. Slightly in awe that this place exists. Ive downloaded tor and Ive downloaded PGP now I just need to get some bitcoins but I have no clue how to. I saw a tutorial that said I could go into a shop and ask for them. Is this true. I was thinking of jsut heading down to my bank and asking. Cheers.

Hi, you can buy BTC from me using Western Union.  Please go to my vendor page (link in signature below).  I try to be as helpful as I can.  good luck.

Do NOT buy from 'collapses' he will scam you mate!

Contact CaptainMal he's a mod on the forums, he will look after you.

BE VERY FUCKING CAREFUL WHERE YOU BUY THEM FROM AND WHAT DETAILS YOU GIVE!

Another idea is to jump on the forum Bitcointalk and see what's up.

AGAIN, BE VERY FUCKING CAREFUL

I agree with everything JWM stated in his post, but this part should be especially important for new buyers - and everyone to be honest.

Always be careful and don't rush into buying your drug of choice, always do research via the forums and through the vendor page where applicable.

makku

EDIT: I have no idea how, but I sure managed to screw up this post :P

@JezuzWazaMushroom, I have been here for a year and a half and done tons of orders.  You are making a very serious claim.  Please substantiate your claim with evidence so that the community may decide.  Otherwise stop spamming this board every time I make a comment.

I have never dealt with collapses either, but 37 posts in a year and a half?????  Why is that??  I have been hear for 6 months and i have done a lot of searching on who to use for this service and this is the first time i have seen you offer.  I'm not making a claim either way.  Just simply asking a question.

For goodness sake, don't take any 'helpful' advice concerning bitcoins you see on this forum.

That said, I will give you some non-scam advice that will serve you well.

For your bitcoin wallet, use 'electrum'. Many people new to bitcoin lose all their bitcoins when they forget their password. Use electrum. It has a method of recovery.

http://electrum.org/

Do not purchase bitcoins on SR. There might be some legitimate merchants (I don't know), but the number of BTC related scams here is staggering. Buying bitcoins is not illegal. There is no reason to go some crazy circuitous route to buy them. Do you live in the USA? The use bitinstant.com or mtgox.com. Under no circumstances use moneypak to buy bitcoins.

Yes, and the majority of those posts have been spent deflecting these idiots claims that I scammed someone.  I've been waiting a month for their "evidence" and in the meantime this board is being littered with their idiotic comments.

Regardless, I don't spend a lot of time on the forums because I've never needed to.  I started focusing my attention on BTC sales only recently but I guess I'll be rethinking that strategy.

Gotcha.  After i posted my comment above yesterday i looked at your other posts and can see what your comment above describes.  Being an uninvolved third party your accuser does come across strange and threatening.  And it is clear he hasn't provided any proof.  I am now wondering what proof would there be to provide?  I don't mean anything by this question.  Once again it is just a question.  The one point you made in your other posts that does make sense to me is why did he do the transaction off of the Road?  That is the bad part in my mind.  Bad on your accuser.  He did the transaction he claims to have been scammed on somewhere off of this site, yet makes all of the bad comments about you on this site.  The other point you have made that makes sense is why would you ruin your name on here for such a small amount???  Especially off of this site.  Surely you would use a separate name on a separate site to keep this good name intact.  I don't know???  If he did get scammed it sucks for him, but he went about the whole thing in the wrong way from the start so a part of me thinks he had it coming.  If he's full of shit i feel really bad for you because your coin business was new enough that his sketchy accusation was able to do great damage.  People are constantly looking to exchange coins on here.  Time will sort this out.  If you are innocent of these accusations (I can see that being true) then keep the name you have on here with a lot of time invested and you can clear your name in a few good transactions.  Because if your accuser is full of it then his name on here will disappear or be tied to other shady deals very soon.  I wish you the best of luck because i'm leaning toward you at the moment.  If you did scam him then that will also be proven in time.  So time will tell.  I'm hoping you are innocent of the accusation so keep your head up!  I will tell you honestly from my viewpoint yesterday.  I had never heard of you in the coin business and you had a small number of posts on the forum.  All of the sudden you are popping in on every coin thread offering your services.  That raised a red flag for me.  However, if you are an honest vendor as you seem to be with your history getting into the coin business that is exactly what you would need to do to get your coin business going.  Man every way about this has two sides that are hard to sort.  Good Luck and sorry for the page of opinion that wasn't even asked for.

Thanks.  It's nice to know there is at least 1 person trying to look at this objectively.
