So this is the first time I'm using BitInstant since they took away the bank option. Today I went to BitInstant and filled out and printed the form like I was supposed to. I went to CVS to do the MoneyGram thing and they kept saying that there was some error with my last name. So I just left and went back home thinking that maybe because I used a fake name it was saying that. I re-did the form with my real name but this time I went to WalMart. The same thing happened. They were telling me that the account number is right but my last name was wrong. What do I do? I need to order supplies by this weekend. Any help is appreciated!!

that's a question you need to bring up with bitinstant

Exact same problem here. I emailed ZipZap and they said they are working on it. Seems bitinstant is sending them the wrong info. Wasted a lot of time on this today.

Thank you!! For some reason I thought it was me! I REALLY hope they fix it by tomorrow. This is such a pain in the ass.

Yep, I just tried to make a deposit and had the same issue. I'm getting sick of these problems with Bitinstant, they're happening way too frequently. I was really hoping to get an order in tonight.

damn same thing happened here! i was going crazy trying to figure out why it kept saying the last name was wrong! hopefully they fix it by tomm but therer isnt another way to do it through walmart other than bitinstant?

YEah shit i just had similar issues with a CVS money gram/bitinstant deposit today
Everything on the phone went fine but the only money gram that had shown up was for a different name, and the cashier basically said there was nothing he could do about it. this has happened 1 other time a few days ago
gosh darn zip zappers need to get organized
cheers..

How often have these problems been going on? I used to use BitInstant a lot back when we were allowed to do the bank deposits but I haven't used this in awhile.

i just deposited with bitinstant for the first time today...picked up the phone they told me to go t the desk..i did and gave them the amount i was sending..said they didn't have the transation. turns out they were looking up my order as if i was sending it to a person rather than paying a bill which is what you want to tell them. try telling them you're paying a bill through moneygram...they might be selecting the wrong menu to search for the order...

same thing happened to me tonight.

Same exact issue here -- I went to a grocery store, stated all the false info into the red phone, and was told that my last name was incorrect. I KNOW it wasn't incorrect, because I had everything written down in front of me.
The paranoid side of me is wondering if they're verifying phone numbers and addresses now, and instead of being straight-up about that, they're simply denying "illegitimate" moneygrams with a blanket excuse -- "your last name is incorrect." The whole thing seems kind of weird to me. Hopefully it gets cleared up soon.

I've been trying to make a transaction this morning. It's giving me an internal error message when I hit the 'send funds' button. It's not even processing my order so I don't know what's going on.
-
I had the same thing happen yesterday afternoon and later in the evening. Both times I used false names and both times I was told that the last name was wrong. Ended up spending an additional $40 over what I was going to spend on a Moneypak and had to pay 14% instead of BitInstant's 3.99% fee. I am so tired of the difficulties with trying to get Bitcoin, it shouldn't be this hard.

this is interesting, I bought coins about 3 days ago, used fake info for the bitinstant form (since they changed it to require this since last time), and then when I paid zz through moneygram, I used my real info as it's saved in the moneygram system. I didn't have any problems getting my coins through
-
I just ran into the same problem an hour ago and was super sketched out about it, but I'm glad to see that I'm not alone. I just told the rep. on the phone that I'd go home and retry. Now when I go to bitinstant they don't even have the CVS, 7/11, or Walmart deposit options anymore?! Anyone know what's going on? I really hope they fix this soon, because I was hoping to put and order in tonight. But this is just my luck :-\

Not just you!
Everytime I'm about to transfer btc in my account the SR either goes down or something else happens.
-
when I go on to bitinstant there's no option for cash deposits there are only options for btc-e coupons mt gox coupons or dwolla and don't have any of those what should I do? I don't want to make accounts with them either. Is it going to be like this from now on? what other methods of buying btc with cash are there?
-
The Bitinstant blog says that cash deposits will be available again tomorrow (Friday) night. Hopefully that is the case.
-
The cash deposit keeps going down...makes me a little sketched out. I wonder what kind of pressure they are getting from LE?
Has anyone used the Blockchain cash deposit?
-
I might try to buy BTC from a SR vendor for the first time...
Sugar Mama & Captain Mal both sell BTC and both have perfectly impeccable reps. Both have minimums:
Sugar Mama's site says $300 minimum via Money Gram or Western Union
CaptainMal's site says $100 minimum by Western Union
I hope it's okay to be posting something like this as I'm just trying to help other members with options during the Bitinstant screw-up. I'm sure there are other vendors, these are two that I know about and have researched and would be comfortable buying from.
Cheers :-*

My moneygram went through; it appears the person on the line just misheard me the first time. All is well.
-
I just bougt 20 BTC through BitInstant and they were in my Wallet before I even got back home from making the deposit.
-
The cash deposit option is back up on Bitinstant, and it looks like all is well again.
Still, I can't help but feel like the days of cash deposits for BTC are going to come to an end some day. I'm not sure what I'll do at that point. Hopefully other options arrive, or my fear is just irrational and cash deposits will always be around. We will see.

I've never had an issue with any transactions I've set up through localbitcoins.com. Maybe something to look into.
-
They're still telling me that I have an 'invalid Last Name'. Even got a message saying everthing would be golden by Saturday.
-
So i guess buying SLL then selling for bitcoins on virwox for -4% is now a better deal again then buying through bitinstant.
-
i was declined today using bitinstant/cvs/moneygram because i didnt have ID. this is the first time this has happened, I used it last week. i guess i will go get myself a moneypak, fuck
could be a fluke, has anyone else had similar issues?
-
CVS employees often ask for ID. It's hard to say how often, because you probably only hear about it on here when they do, but still, I won't mess with CVS for that reason. I've never read about anyone being asked for ID at Walmart, just make sure you've got your fake info memorized.

I've never had that happen. Was it for a larger than usual amount, or have you been frequenting the CVS too often? Retailers are required to file an unknown-to-you "Suspicious Activities Report" to the federal authorities under certain conditions. Sometimes overzealous employees can try to do this although the requirements to trigger an SAR aren't met. I'm going to check what the requirements are for the SAR when I go to work later.
If you are in a metro area, it is always good to use a different retailer and location each time, although moneygram knows what's going on with whatever alias you are using.
-
Yea, I think it could have just been the CVS employee. who knows. Next time I will try Wal mart thanks
-
This must have been a temporary issue. I just did a Walmart moneygram (my first time doing this), and like another member above said, the coins were in my wallet by the time I got home.
I still prefer buying coins from Blue Sky Traders, but since they are closed, I decided to do it this way... it sure is a pain in the ass.

OK, this happened to me the other day. I talked to support( a live person, lol) and I was told the system is not recognizing names. Use John Doe as the name and it will go through. I did that and it worked. I don't know when it will be fixed, but that works for now.
