So make up a random tormail email and use that for bitinstant? And use a fake phone number?
And would you use the same info the second time?

also, going through tor and a vpn nothing shows up on bitinstant except for:   How it works   |   FAQ   |   Fees and Locations   |   API   |   Blog   |   Security   |   About Us   |   Contact Us

I'm using the tor bundle and the menu load pretty quick and then I'd say 30 - 120 seconds later the rest of the page loads. Maybe change tor id and try page again?

Yes on random tormail (but I was thinking lately that it will probably start getting flagged), so a burner like hushmail through tor might be better...not gonna do you anygood for anything anyway. They send a confirmation but it is later than your wallet shows...and if shit gets fucked up, you can't really do anything with all of the fake info anyway.

Also, yes i just use a fake phone number that is needed only at ZipZap site and the MoneyGram form that the "associate" will enter into computer.
Well i dont want to make my bit instant account and then get it flagged while i have my money on it... would it be horrible to use a real email address? and i dont know what burner means or where to find hushmail.

Alright, ill just make a hughmail for bitinstant, but the site still isnt loading. If im in a vpn can i use it through a normal browser?

edit: hush mail: understand that Hushmail is not suitable for illegal activity and that the providers of Hushmail will cooperate fully with authorities pursuing evidence via valid legal channels. See our Security Page.

doesnt seem like theyd be on our side lol

I have a question regarding the Moneygram fee. As I have never used a moneygram before. But I tried the other day but the person wouldnt put it through because she said it was showing up without a fee. And she didn't want to put it through because there was no fee showing up and she had never seen that before. (an older lady, gave me a real hard time, I just said forget it). Is the zipzap 3.95 the moneygram fee? or is that the zipzap fee? Because when I filled out the blue form I included the 3.95 as what I was depositing. Should I just put what I'm depositing, and then that is to be left out and payed as the fee?

Thank you in advanced!

Thanks OP, I followed your guide and was able to get some coins with ease. I usually go with Blue Sky but they don't really operate over the weekends. The above method definitely works, and is pretty painless.

Can someone explain to me what the Instawallet steps are meant to achieve?

I'm led to believe that these don't add anything to the anonymity of the chain whatsoever.

Bitcoinfog, or alternative service that actually tumbles coins - I understand.

But Instawallet does nothing of the sort.

From what I understand (someone correct me if im wrong) using a large wallet like Instawallet works because the coins you withdraw are not the exact same coins you deposited., cause all the deposits get mixed together.

I just read in another thread (link below) that this is a myth and Instawallet doesn't tumble anything. I'll consider using Bitcoinfog in the future... it apparently is not a free service, thouigh.

Using a online wallet does help with anonymity. Its not as good as using a coin tumbler but it its not true that it doesn't do anything. Also everyone seems to forgot SR tumbles your coins when you make a deposit.

https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Anonymity

Also, if you are buying bitcoins anonymously there is no reason to pay for a mixing service. Its a waste of money.

I agree. It does not help with anonymous bitcoin and have updated the first post.

Damn, so 4% from bitinstant and 1-3% from bitcoinfog. Bigger hat and spray tan at walmart to save 3% I guess. ;)

Well, we Aussies are paying 10% for cash > BTC via spendbitcoins.com.

Worth it though, to be able to make a regular cash deposit at a bank.

That is harsh for Australians, 10%?  What about Cryptoxchange?  Are they any better?  I know a fair number of people have called scam on them on bitcointalk.org but you never know for sure.  Anyone with experience?

nice guide...  Did not know about the new identity button...  Anyone know if a new identity is generated on launch?

Nice to know instawallet mixes and SR too...

Is the 2nd isntawallet transfer just a bit more mixing for safety?

If you do decide to tumble/mix couldn't you use a cheaper but non-anonymous way to get bit coin (say mtgox direct?)

Guys take off your TInfOIL hats... Your spending a lot xtra money to get coins and making it harder than it has to be.. Use fake name etc, go pay in cash send it straight to your SR address and uour done. Soon as you get your coins SPEND THEM!! ..SR already had somewhat of a tumbler set up when the coins come in.. All these xtra steps your taking is great, but its really not needed and you are wasting money for foggin and all that. But if it makes u feel better and sleep smoother go ahead. Just make sure u learn ur PGP and use that of all things.. Iv been using the road for a looong time and i admit i took the same precautions at first. Remember it IS NOT ILLEGAL TO BUY BITCOINS!!!!

When you used to cash your paycheck and use the money to buy drugs, would you worry that the banker or clerk who counted out the money had secretly written down the serial numbers beforehand?  Would you worry that your drug dealer had just been busted and was working with the feds who use the cancelled check to trace you and the serial numbers on the bills to link you to the transaction?

There is a limited amount of effort that law enforcement will go to to catch you with your ounce of weed/few grams of blow/few hits of acid/etc.  This isn't to say that you should not be careful, but a dose of reality is also in order.

Thanks Flax. As a raw beginer a lot of this seems overwhelming. A little reality from a journeymen is appreciated.

To AnonymousAddict - Great info, however, I still have a question.
When on the Bitinstant website (through TOR of Course) there are two pulldown menu's. Pay from is easy =Walmart.
My question is that if we want to send the BTC straight to SR which menu item do we choose? The option are, MT. Gox, Bitcoil to e-mail, PayPal, BitStamp, Vir-Wox, Bitcoin Address, BTC-e.com.
I want all of my ducks in a row before I buy my first book on SR. Thanks!

I think this is the best post in this whole thread. For personal amounts there is no need to extreme lengths to hide the source of funds because the weak link in the chain is the physical evidence. That's what you need to worry about the most.

It's not a matter of LE tracking the money from your weed purchase back to you, it's about tracking your money into SR....Once SR is labeled a terrorist organization (it may be, you don't know) then your BTC into a SR wallet makes you guilty of funding a terrorist org.

Seriously? Is that what you're going with? Not even the Mexican Cartels, which carry out assassinations, kidnappings, robberies, and a million other criminal activities apart from the drug trafficking itself, are designated as terrorist organizations. The guy may have been right about the tinfoil hat after all....

8 - Go to bitinstant.com

9 - Under "Pay from" select "Walmart"

On bitinstant, in the "Pay from" drop-down I only have the following three options:  BTC-E Coupon, Bitstamp Coupon, or MtGox Coupon

I have diligently read multiple threads on this forum and others and still can't figure out exactly how to do a cash transfer via Moneygram to Bitinstant - I feel so close!  Does anyone know what to select here since Walmart is not an option, or is doing a cash deposit via Moneygram ExpressService no longer an option with Bitinstant?  I thought this was going to be easier/quicker/less of a transaction fee than going thru BlueSkyTraders or CaptainMal but I think they may get some new business from me if I can't figure out how to do the cash deposit deal!

Thanks in advance for any help - will send you Karma in the future once I can do so!
