Title: Gribble bot unable to recognise chat nickname in Bitcoin OTC - help needed
Post by: panda1218 on October 20, 2012, 12:57 am
So I have got quite far down the road in terms of understanding how to securing some coins through Bitcoin OTC.

My problem is when I am trying to get myself registered and auithenticated via the key generated in Kleopatra. I have followed all steps up to this pint carefully.

The instructions I'm following say:
To register your chat nickname with your PGP key type the following in the gribble tab:
;;gpg eregister pgp_nickname ID.
Say my PGP and chatnickname is Jim, and my ID is 1234567891012345, I would type:
;;gpg eregister Jim 123456789102345

You will hopefully see something like this:

[0000<gribble> Request successful for user Jim, hostmask Jim!XXXXXXXX@gateway/web/freenode/ip.00.000.000.000. Get your encrypted OTP from http://bitcoin-otc.com/otps/XXXXXXXXX

But I only get an error message from the gribble bot saying:
"Could not retrieve your key from keyserver. " + "Either it isn't there, or it is invalid."

Completely stuck now, can anyone help please?

captainmal - thanks for the reply. Unfortunately I am literally following instructoins line by line. Can you elaborate on what you mean? Do I need to use a different program to Kleopatra,. or just refresh the key it has given me?

Any further detail MUCH appreciated.

I've been told that often problem is wrong server typed in in Kleopatra, Double check if your key was sent to the correct server. You can also enforce gribble to read key from the particular server, but usually if the key is sent to one server, it's spread among the rest automatically.
