so i need to buy some product and just last night i did a transaction and
sent it to my SR account..
today i go to load up the last of my money needed to finish my order.. and...
NO MORE FUCKING SENDING TO BTC ADDRESS.. WTF
anyways just a heads up ...
let me know if you guys see it change back to normal ..
-
I am trying to find out whether that's a permanent change. I'm guessing it's not. As you probably know, bitinstant was a victim of a DOS attack, which was a major factor in the service outages in the last couple of days.
-
Bottom of the page: Coinapult Orders DISABLED
No word on just directly to address, but I'm guessing they consider it the same as Coinapult orders.
This has happened before, but I'm not sure if it's temporary this time.
-
According to BitInstant CEO and Co-Founder, cash-to-BTC address capability should be restored sometime tonight. It's a temporary status only.
-
Thank God! Finally ready to buy a sheet of L and no bitinstant ----> BTC address? WTF?!? I hope this is fixed by tomorrow.

A number of BTC exchanges were attcked, including BitInstant. I know I keep sounding like an apologist for them. I'm not, really, it's just that if you pay attention to the forums, they are doing their best to communicate issues and pay out refunds. I don't know what else people expect from them.
The cash -> BTC address service is expected to be back up soon. Hope for both our sake's that's true. I usually use bitfloor as a backup, but with the bank holiday on Monday, that won't be an option until Tuesday.
-
Not sure why anyone is still using them, they've completely gone to shit ever since they stopped accepting deposits from banks.
-
Everyone in this thread needs to start getting their coins via Blue Sky Traders or BTCPal... both take bank deposits, small-large amounts. Not ridiculously small... but they always come through.
BTCPal sends the funds directly to your SR username/account, and that is instant. BST will send the funds to an address of your choice. Just give them a new address from BTC-qt, or Blockchain.info
Stop using BitInstant. They blow.
And coinapult is having major issues, I wouldn't recommend using them either for now.
What are the rates like compared to the Mt.Gox weighted avg? Like how much more in percent do you have to pay with BST?
-
I believe it's something like 2 or 3 percent taken out. It's not much more at all.

umm yeah what blows is paying TEN percent with those guys appose to doing 3.99% with bitinstant.. also a vender can rob you bitinstant is a legit biz..
idk i have used btcmaster but its always so much stress and i cant be doing that shit.. not only could it get lost in the mail somehow or stolen i could get robbed..
fucking bitcoins..

I haven't received my bitcoins from bitinstant since I sent them Wednesday. I was going to do 4 or 5 transactions through Bitinstant for over 2k but after researching these past couple of days I gave BlueSky traders a try. The service was very fast and professional. I got Bitcoins with-in a few minutes of making deposit. The exact fee I was charged was % 4.2 . I'd recommend BlueSky for anyone needing a large amount of bitcoins. It saves a ton of time and stress. I hope I could be some help.

Yeah they've been having less and less options as time goes by, and more and more issues as time goes by. I'm thinking of moving to Blue Sky Traders. Either that or I gotta find someone in my area.
-
I recently used BST for the first time, and was very happy. They have a new customer with me.
-
I'll look into BlueSkyTraders. I've never had a problem with BitInstant to this point though.
-
To each his own. I appreciate the fact that bitinstant has a forum dedicated to communicating with its customers, and a CEO who personally communicates with angry (and often verbally abusive) customers. My funds were held up for two days, and when the funds were finally credited they were credited at the current exchange rate, because it was higher, and the 3.99% fee was refunded entirely. Bitinstant isn't perfect, but they get an A for customer service in my book.
-
i have waited two days now and still nothing, i have coins in mt gox that need to be moved but it won't allow me to moved them without being verified. anyone got suggestions?
-
For what its worth, I got an email from bitinstant support and they told me that the bitinstant----->BTC address will be back up on Monday.
Just thought I would let yall know, I hope they are right, I need to get ready to buy some LSD.
Love and Light,

Thanks for the update! I was worried I was going to have to go back to Mt. Gox or give BST a try (I might anyway, they sound like a good option).

found this on the clearweb :\
hope this is fixed soon.....

Update on Weekend BitInstant Transactions (self.Bitcoin)
submitted 39 minutes ago by bitinstant
Good Morning All!
Essentially on Friday BitInstant, Coinapult, MtGox, BTCe, and possibly others (unconfirmed reports of Ozcoin) were attacked.
This attack was not just a DOS attack, rather the hacker attempted to change passwords, API keys, and generally fuck up our whole system.
Not only this, but it caused major issues and code breaks in the API used for BitInstant to talk to its partner exchanges where we buy BTC as soon as your deposit is made.
All funds are safe, nothing was lost.
We immediately took BTCe offline, Bitcoin-Address, and Bitcoin-to-email as well.
Now, BTCe is back online and has been since Saturday.
We've been awake the past few days 24 hours and looking to have Bitcoin-Address, and Bitcoin-to-email back tonight EST.
All orders that were delayed will have their fees fully refunded as well as BTC prices honored as early back as Friday when your deposit was made.
I want to take this time and thank my super devoted team of developers and customer support. They have not slept all weekend, making sure everyone's emails, chats, and calls have been answered within minutes.
Thanks for your continuing business and support
Charlie

I've been using BitInstant for a couple months. I used to use bitfloor cash deposits 'til they stopped. It was so fast and easy. It turns out bitfloor's back! Which was really exciting for me at first. One thing I didn't care for was their customer service though. Roman was always rude. Don't know if anyone else here has dealt with that. CryptoCurrent too I was excited about for anonymous cash deposits like the good'ol days.
It turns out they don't apply to me though. Bank of America seems to be the only bank left that's willing to fuck with BTC traders. I live in a small town and we had a couple BOA's for as long as I can recall, but just my luck they all closed last year and the nearest one is like 250 miles away. This probably isn't an issue for most of you. I checked into Blue Sky Traders like y'all suggested and same dilemma, but I started to chat with the guys at CryptoCurrent and they provide free next day air mail through UPS or FedEx. UPS is cheaper for them and I prefer them to FedEx personally. FedEx is slowest in the biz in my opinion.
Since after Sunday BitInstant hadn't got their shit together I wasn't banking on them being ready today. CryptoCurrent e-mailed me a prepaid label on a PDF and this morning I printed it off, bought a congratulations card and mailed them cash. It sounded like a hassle and it kinda is. Con - it takes an extra day. Con - I had to buy a card, but I guess I didn't have to. They said one could use an old magazine, or wrap it in junk paper, but to conceal it in something semi neat before sticking it in the carrier's envelope. Pro - I didn't have to use my identity. I didn't have to go through the trouble of using a fake identity. I didn't have to worry about which location to go to at what times so not arouse suspicion for using these different pseudo identities or have an awkward transaction. Pro - Even if BitInstant is running tomorrow I'll have my BTC's tomorrow and probably sooner at this point. Con - I haven't used CryptoCurrent before, nor have I sent cash in the mail to buy BTC's before, but based on all their good reviews and my very friendly and pleasant interaction with them so far I'm not worried at all. (Fuck "Roman")
Also, I have to say aside from buying the card on the way the whole FedEx thing was super fast! I walked in.. waited in line for 20 seconds, told the teller that I needed "this" air mailed and handed him the card and the page I printed. He said "Okay" fixed the package up in no time and asked if I needed a receipt for tracking. I walked in and out within like three minutes total. No painful parking either. WalMart's always a hassle. The fee is 5%. Not so bad. I don't know if I'll even go back to BitInstant. It's only one day difference and it's stress free and I like being anonymous AND I can deposit directly into my SR account (the next day- lol.) I'll update after everything goes smoothly tomorrow. Peace

How did it go?

Yo bro in the last week or two they've been disabling bitcoin to address and bitcoin to email, prob a maintenance thing, keep checkin back. I myself was a one method man, now I got two options :D, maybe you shall soon too.
-
Everything went smooth. The money I received today was almost exactly what I estimated. Got my BTC on the road around 2PM. So CryptoCurrent is always an option. Even if you don't have a bank in your area.
-
I'm on day 6 now waiting for bit instant. Anyone ever got a refund from them?

Same here bro, the transaction was smooth as butter and way less scetchy than going in walmart and filling out papers and shit with names and address's and shit.
$500 turned into $485 worth of BTC, 16.49 BTC to be exact, highly recomended!

BTW, the key with bitinstant when they have a server stall like they did last week is to mail bomb their support with shrill demands that they get their act together.
Literally.
Until they respond to you. Which they will if you harass them enough and accuse them of negligence.
That's what I did over a 5 hour period until they mailed back asking me to stop mail bombing them over one order and pushed my order through 10 minuets later.

i do that too.. fuck them .. they should get it right the first time.. fuckers..
ive had to do this like 3 times in the past 4 months..
and they always answer with the same shit
and then never message me back they just fix it..
so really.. you message them once with all the info they need ...( account numbers from zip zap and transaction I.D. from bitinstant )
and u never have to message them again they will get right on it .. once they message u back and they have seen it

Yeah, that, or you could just post it on their forum once, and you'll probably get an answer. If you don't, you can PM their CEO, and you will get an answer. I mean, they have a frigging customer service forum.

You mean on bitcointalk? The place where you can't even post to the forums when you sign up for a user account until who the fuck knows when?
Maybe you already had an active bitcointalk forum account capable of posting publicly but for those that don't and would prefer not the headache of chasing that dead end just to get their coin I recommend mail bombing.

I think he may have been referring to the blog on BitInstant.com. Their employees post on there every couple days or so and sometimes respond to comments to their posts. Also I think you can probably email them.
BitcoinTalk is a mess forum IMHO. Half of the threads are moved to other forums and there are too many stickies, etc.

Ah. Wasn't aware you could post on their blogs or that they even had one. But yeah, you can email them at support@bitinstant.com. Like I was saying, it's great for mail bombing. :)

I agree. It's fucking horrible. >:(

Yes, I meant bitcointalk. You can immediately post to the Newbie sub-forum, where the Official Bitinstant Customer Support thread is located. Post in the thread, and then PM Yankee, who is the bitinstant CEO. I've never had a problem with bitinstant that wasn't worked out in that forum.
And, calm the fuck down. We're all on drugs here, hero. ::)
