Title: What PGP software should I use?
Post by: Lefisca on August 12, 2013, 07:17 pm
I've read everything about it, I think I understand how to do it, I just need the software now.  Preferably free programs...

There's a good tutorial for that one, too. ;)

gpg4usb for generating 4096-bit RSA keys and gpg4win for everything else. If you're a vendor then you should be using TAILS (the USB flash key Linux-based OS) and nothing else, which contains the obvious GPG apps.

Tails would not be ideal for a vendor as an attacker could use fingerprinting to identify Tails users and from there formulate a plan. There's certain things that differentiate a Tails user from other users. ONe such thing is that Tails does not have set guards. Every time on start Tails will pick a different set of guards where as in Tor has the same guards for about a month. I would like to hope that Vendors have a better security set up then Tails but I'm sure some vendors don't even go that far.

Never heard that before. Thanks for the scrutiny of TAILS. We need more of that kind of analysis.
