Title: Setting tails admin password and disabling java script help
Post by: jonnyboy91 on August 06, 2013, 01:16 pm
Hey everyone just a quick question about tails. I'm running the latest one and i've set up my persistence password which i type in at login everytime to get that secure storage for keys etc. With the administrator password though, tails never seems to remember the one i typed in when i login and each time i boot tails back up again i'm able to type in any administrator password again. How do i get it to remember my admin password? and also how do i get the internet browser to remember to disable java script because everytime i boot tails again it forgets that also
thanks

I'd love to know there's a way to accomplish that - i actually tried moving mozilla, tor & vidalia to the persistent volume (ie copying to desktop, then to persistent, and then deleting from their original location)
IceWeasel would remember all settings during a Tails session, i could shut iceweasel, re-open, and all settings were where i'd set them

reboot the computer, and all settings were lost, and mozilla, tor and vidalia re-surfaced back in the amnesia folder

I don't think Tails can remember an admin password because /etc/passwd is on a read-only system image. You shouldn't generally be running as administrator anyway. If malware used some exploit to gain your user privileges, it would literally root you because you are running as root. It could do anything, like bypass Tor.
