Title: GPG4USB question
Post by: tbart on July 19, 2013, 02:38 pm
think this is my last question - i'm running Tails on two USBs, with Electrum 1.8 on both (CallMeBruce did a great paint by the numbers tutorial on copying files from electrum over to the backup usb)

Now i want to copy the private/public key pair set up on the first usb, and set it up on the backup usb -

don't see any selection for that in the tool bar in gpg4usb - any way to copy files from the electrum folders to achieve this?

thanks in advance

My GPG4USB tutorial briefly explains that:

http://32yehzkk7jflf6r2.onion/gpg4usb/

"Lastly, it's a good idea to back up your private key. If you lose it, you won't be able to decrypt messages and they will effectively be lost forever. Right click on your key in the right panel and select "Show Key Details". You'll see the dialog above. Click "Export Private Key" and save the file in a secure location."

The second step, not explained in the tutorial, is simply to copy the key to the other GPG4USB and import it the normal way.

i've got to remember to go into my display settings and lower my display's resolution before rebooting into tails. from now on

tks for the assist astor, do appreciate

Astor the link for your tutorial is not working, do you have a new link?  Thanks!
