Title: Newbie Basic Essentials to Silk Road.
Post by: Strainge on July 07, 2013, 05:43 pm
I would like to make a thread that provides the  Basic Essentials to Silk Road..I noticed there is a lot of repetitive threads, stupid questions.

Ive noticed these forums don't have enough important stickies.

So if anyone wants to contribute to helping make a thread feel free to post important threads.

These are the topics I want to have covered with a full explanation even  have the explanation dummy proof..

-Topics

1. Getting Started
This should involve the basic dos and donts...

2.Buying from a Reputable Vendor
I would like to have a link to the vendor list of who follows the proper stealth methods etc.

3.Purchasing and Staying Anonymous buying Bitcoins.

This should cover.. The transferring and cleaning/clouding methods of using bit coins or anything in this subject..

4.The Dos and Dont when dealing with vendors.

Lets cover being professional,Anon, and Safe..

5.Basic explanation to PGP. Yes its listed at the top of the Newbie forum.

PGP Newbie Club http://dkn255hz262ypmii.onion/index.php?topic=107219.0

6.Explanation of Staying anon using Tails, Tor browser ,Vpn and any type of security measures to protect you...

If there are any important topics I missed please say so. I don't have a lot of time on my hands but anyone that would like to contribute please do.. I will be keeping up and editing this thread as regular as possible.. We need to make sure everyone is being safe when using silk road.. It is for the Sellers and  Vendors Protection..

Anyone who contributes ill be sure to mention you.

Lets keep the unnecessary posts to a minimum..

Goal #5: PGP Encryption
Here's a link to Pine's PGP encryption tutorial.  This is how a lot of people learn to encrypt.

In terms of personal protection, from what I've read the easiest (and safest) thing to do is load a linux distro like Libirte to a USB drive and boot from that whilst keeping your PGP keys on a separate and very safe drive. People say to encrypt the drive containing keys and such as well, but I suppose that depends on how far you want to go with it.

On another note with the boot drive, I know that libirte comes with tor pre-configured  and is fairly secure.

It seems the link is broken?

I agree that this section needs more stickies.

There used to be a lot more stickies in each of the subforums. In fact, at one time, a majority of the threads on the first page of Security and Off Topic were stickies, but almost all of them were removed under a new policy that only threads created by mods/admins can be stickied -- except for a few in Shipping, I guess.

That's a shame, the mods have a lot on their hands, but I can see how it would pose a security risk. maybe locked stickies would work? Once a mod has reviewed the thread it would be locked.
