My browser is being redirected to betterwebefriendsthanenemis.onion when I log onto this forum. What is that about?
-
Never happened to me and I'm on here more than any other member. Subbing because I'm interested though.
-
Only started happening today, happens every time I post. I have to go back and resubmit the post to get it to go through. Mcafee says the site its trying to redirect too is infested with malware. Perhaps its my machine.

OzFreelancer was having the same problem yesterday when using onion.to
I also saw this problem mentioned by someone on reddit. It's not the website.... Sounds like something on these peoples machines because no one else is mentioning this problem. Very isolated.

Are you using Google Chrome or Epiphany on Liberte?
It seems that having "AppleWebKit" in the user agent causes the redirect.
You should only use Tor Browser over Tor for many reasons:
https://www.torproject.org/projects/torbrowser/design/
But if you don't mind compromising your anonymity, simply changing the user agent to look like Tor Browser, or even changing AppleWebKit to "Apple WebKit" should solve the problem. Let me know if it doesn't.
-
It doesn't seem to be redirecting for AppleWebKit now, but you should still be using Tor Browser. ;)
-
Love the techs...:)
-
Happened while using Tor as well, it's fine now.
-
I can verify that it was happening to me when I was trying to log into the forums on Friday. The URL kept changing to "learntoplayniceorgoaway.onion", so I gave up on trying to get onto the forums that day.
Not getting that problem today, though, so that's why I'm here. :P

Forum was restricted because person spamming (possible) personal info and big spam dump.
Redirect was message to wankers responsible. Play nice was 1st then better we be friends.
It is not your machine. Maybe also think about if you want NSA puppet McAfee scan and log all your .onion browsing?? :o
Damn wankers.
-
It is still happening, I can only log on via firefox. Tor browser will not work, chrome will not work.
That is why I have not been on. Using other computers still gives the same problem, something very fishy is going on. I tried 3 different machines, It is my account.
-
are you using .to?
-
You mean the URL I am using to log on
http://dkn255hz262ypmii.onion.to
I am using firefox right now because I cant get on with tor browser.
Why am I seeing the redirect lol, I never spammed anything. Some people have been saying that I have leaked my location but I never did any such thing, I think someone has accessed my account.
-
Why would it redirect your Tor Browser but not the thousands of other Tor Browsers that people on the forum use? It makes no sense. Did you change the user agent or something?
Anyway, when I use the Chrome 28 user agent, I can access the forum just fine.
-
its a .to thing. If you use tor browser you don't have to use to .to...You SHOULD NOT be using .to anyways.
-
Alright it went away, I uninstalled mcafee (aka NSA puppet tool) and stopped using the .to suffix. Working well now.

Wait you were surfing silkroad via tor threw a tor proxy?
Yo bro, I put a tor inside your tor so you can tor while you tor.
-
^^ lol I am a pharmacology nerd not a computer nerd ;)
-
This shouldn't have to be said, but it's best to avoid using the .to proxy when browsing anything on Tor. Use Tor Browser Bundle, or something like Liberte or Tails. That .to proxy is risky because whoever runs the proxy can see your IP address whereas using Tor helps to keep you anonymous and hidden.

haha, been there, done that. It's important to start a new account for a new position though, and I was fully ready to spam to 50 if I had to again. ;)

I hope you realize that if McAfee could see you were accessing that URL (and even changed it), other apps, malware, etc. could too. McAfee was probably reporting that URL to their servers.
Stop using regular browsers, people! Stop taking short cuts with your security!
