So is everyone else, my good man.

Same here. I really hate the day that SR will be forced to implement a spamfilter...
-
Kinda BS! 11 of our last 13 messages are all spam! Viagra & Bitcoin

No messages here. I feel left out.
Are you getting these as forum PM's or messages on SR?

Ah, so it's vendors only, eh? That certainly is shitty.

Like I mentioned on the vendor's thread;
Isn't there someone who knows someone around here that can ddos the mofo's? We'll support the cause!
Or get people to hit their email or support accounts with 12 pages worth of shit on each message . . . a couple of thousand of those messages & they might think twice!

And they're still coming . Must think I've got issues

I've received over 20 - same user names

These spams (both Viagra and Bitcoin related) are the work of the 'Mtgix spammer' who has posted under many different aliases on the forum which can be seen here 'A Warning for New Members About Bitcoin Scams' dkn255hz262ypmii.onion/index.php?topic=108836.0 I have been spammed by xingjau, jjbosst, and reakton. There isn't a feature on the marketplace presently where a user can be ignored (I wish this feature would be implemented to help remedy this). The only action that can be taken is to delete the spam messages straight away if you're familiar with the username being related to the spammer, and report the username to SR Support so the culprit usernames can be banned. Every new spammer related username I receive will be reported to SR Support and if I don't see it mentioned on the forum I'll add it here.

It's difficult for me as one, to understand the mentality of the logic with the continuous repetitive spamming! Do they think "if I just do it once it might get missed."
"But if I do it 10 or 20 times I might just pique their interest!"
"And if I hit them 40 to 50 times they might come hit the website 3 or 4 times!"
I just don't get it!

After the 20th message I got to thinking, hmmm... My wife's boner hasn't been up to part lately and these people do have female Viagra... And from what I hear, THEY'RE THE CHEAPEST! They are running a discount today! Specials only TODAY!?? And it's the BEST place to buy Viagra online?! And the day is almost over!!!! Noooo :'(
I'm placing an order for my lady boner pills right now!! ;D
-
Another spam account by the username pillmon trying to force Viagra on me...
-
FFS will somebody kill this motherfucker?!?!? WTF no one is going to buy viagra from you when they can get it from me. I don't spam. ;)
-

But do you carry the "female Viagra" that they carry? ???
-
Alas, I do not. I have been thinking of testing it out, though. Purely for scientific and business purposes of course. :P
-
A new spam Viagra account called chigon has surfaced ::)
Edit: Add cheapthin to the list.
-
This is ridiculous! I got 20+ messages from these guys
-
yo these assholes are fucking with customer service for venders. As a consumer, SR needs to stop them or someone needs to see these assholes permanently are unable to get erect!!!
-
I would recommend SR get a msg out to everyone so customers know response time is slowed due to these guys
-
I told him I was going to hunt him down and kill him but I'm still getting the spam.
-
Make it stop!! Please!!!!
-
so damn annoying
-
Spam from about 15 different usernames now.
-
I assume this is all part of the attack on SR? I think these accounts should be banned and new users temporarily suspended until something can be done about this. Over 20+ messages and counting....
-
They're just good people concerned about our dicks is all.
(bastards)
Opening my inbox is like opening my spam folder.

- LMAO about the reasoning.
- I support what WhiteShark says, suspend new user registration as long as their automatism works as annoying as it does right now, then implement a different security feature ? ( PIN on signup? :D j/k ). Am not too involved when it comes to programming so please don't fry this statement. I know its a lot of work. And I know I can't do it. So thanks in advance

Like contemplating it? Because it's really easy. Implement a captcha for buyers, or a captcha for buyers that never spent an coins, or a captcha for buyers that spent less than $50. :o
Exploring different options...
I came up with several extremely viable options in less than a minute. Why not IMPLEMENT one of these options that you guys have been exploring for a week? ::)
"Extremely viable" when one does not know how the Silk Road back end works; it's being worked on, Jack N Hoff.

Me too. I must have gotten a good 50 messages now from at least five different accounts. Something has to be done about this.

I don't know how I feel about my forum account linked with the buying account. I am trying to protect my identity in so many layers.

Yes, it is bad over there.
We could use checkboxes next to messages (or names) so we can delete (and/or ignore) more than one at a time. SR reloads toooo slow to delete all these messages one at a time.
Thanks for working on it as I am sure you are :-)

PS aka edit: Captch might not work long as I think they probably have an easier time overcoming that than regular buyers. Banning new accounts will only work if they dont have a bunch of unused accounts in reserve.
To delete the messages more easily:
Right click the 'delete' button of the message you want to delete and click 'Open Link in New Tab'; do that for each message and you won't have to wait for the page to reload every time.
Alternatively you can just hold 'CTRL' and click the 'delete' button - that opens it up in a new tab without having to open the right-click context menu. Just close all the tabs once they've loaded and click 'messages' at the top of your page to refresh your inbox.

A right click > Report username or some other way to report them might be able to lead to automated account suspensions when over 10+/- reports come in during a short time period. Suspensions could be rebutted by suspended users who request review of their suspension. Not an easy solution, I know, just throwing it out there.

That is good advice. Sadly, often for me, if I am not on the new tab and moving my mouse, any new SR tab usually "times out" rather than loading. Trying to load multiple tabs in a hurry is usually ineffective. Maybe it is sending the delete command and so it works anyway. I'll look into that.
Edit: That was much, much faster when SR is working fast for me like it is at this time.

the newcaptcha is working for me too in the PM with my customers. It seems to have cut down on the spam now, so thanks for that. It is a needed barrier if people are going to start doing that. It's also a testament that SR is big enough to have it's own eco/weather system..lol. like whale with little parasite fishies nibbling on it's skin

Woohoo Captchas in messages.
Boo Captchas for vendors...
I can work with it though. That shit got really annoying.

That's awesome acknowledge problem but do not - execute the seize and disiest on the sender

I mentioned this in another thread, but this one seems to be getting more traffic, so I'll mention it here too.
Why not make new and low stats accounts deposit BTC before they can send messages? I understand the need to allow buyers to contact vendors before a purchase, but really if they are serious about making a purchase, they should have BTC on hand to deposit into their accounts. Make it a minimum of 1 BTC before messages can be sent. For accounts with less than 10 transactions and $500 in purchases, there would be a 3 day delay on withdrawals, so the spammer can't deposit BTC, spam a whole bunch, and immediately withdraw the BTC. It would give admins the time to identify the spam accounts and delete them, keeping the BTC of course, and making the spamming not worth it.
Accounts with more than 10 transactions and $500 would not have to deposit BTC to send messages and could withdraw immediately.
None of this would apply to vendor accounts of course.
Also, even when they deposit BTC, why not limit them to 10 messages a day or something? Is there really a need to send more messages than that for a new buyer?

atm its calmed down to a full stop for me, finger's crossed, but that idea would certainly work for me...
-
Yer the 3 message per day is plenty enough for a simple TX problem, it would maybe even create a certain mindset in place to think before you have questions/complaint/whatever.
If it was included in the Buyers Agreement, and the reason why time messaging constraints have been implemented,.
which would maybe fine tune some stuff at the other end of the spectrum with admin having to deal with less info maybe.
I have always wished for a better vending mail system, one of my favorite hang ups is the ability to delete ALL, no option to simply select some you might need for a later date, maybe for disputes, or maybe for quick reference to your own sent messages/ or even using it as a listing warehouse :).
Which at some point or another i usually end up saying to meself, I should of had the brains to have saved that .
Would be great to have your own mail folder/link to go to.
with that being said i hate mess and can live with the mail issues i have, even this recent spate of vendor email abuse was easy enough to navigate through.

It was amazing how fast this was taken care of! Thank you SR staff!!!!!
