Can some of you geniuses over at reddits sub forum /r/SilkRoad/ please explain to me why you think its a great idea.
Why cant you wanna be hipster neck beard fucks just post hear or some where not on the open web.
Now i understand SR is not a secret or anything but /r/SilkRoad/ is just stupid. Just shove it in the face of everyone why dont you. It got 1 million hits in march congratulations on that.
Since reddit took down the jb sub forum after some media exposure here is what i have done.
I have contacted some global media outlets like the ones that took down the jb and alerted them about how reddit helps facilitate people including underage people buying drugs.
Just imagine the thought of reddit helping someones kid buy some heroin cocaine or ice. Salacious isnt it.
Enjoy it while it lasts.

+1
I don't understand the need for it or why its so busy. Forum down = makes a little sense. I mean in general, though?
-
It's really nothing more than a bunch of kiddies asking how to get bitcoins and how they should go about ordering drugs to their mommy and daddy's house. Every time I browse through there (which admittedly isn't very often) it's the same thing. It has always been bad but lately it has gotten an influx of obvious 15-18 year olds that has made it a lot worse.
-
I've seen numerous people use their longtime (year+) personal reddit account on there talking about getting various controlled substances shipped to them in the US. I don't know what makes these people think that having this nonchalant attitude towards these serious offenses that they are committing and openly admitting to on the clearnet is okay.
The low hanging fruit keeps them busy and away from the rest of us though.

+K. I also wondered about this today, and while I didn't say anything, I would agree that it is in their best interest to change their name.... you cannot be on reddit and Silk Road as well and have the same name, it is just bad security. If the person I am referring to reads this post (and they will), then change your name on reddit. Also, don't be on /r/SilkRoad/ to begin with, it is clearnet for godsakes.
Piece, Love, and Fuck Haters.

fuck reddit, period.
Bunch of fucking knowitall 'children' jokesters. I dont care what education they have. Together, they are as wise as ham sandwich. Had potential...if we weren't human! I read more progressive wisdom on 4chan.
Think of it this way. In science...what do you want to avoid? Strict peer approved research, basically! Because in the end, People limit or constrain themselves through wanting approval from the 'pack', which in my experience creates dull, uninspiring and even corrupt research results.
SR forums is what its all about. Fucking company of gentlemanly heros here :) *tips hats to fellow SR trash*

Fuck you, fuck you in the eye with pinocchio's splintery todger.
SR is a big international business, it's not some "SUPER SECRETZ 1337 DRUG CLUB OMG".
It's been discussed multiple times on fucking fox news for christ's sake.
There's nothing wrong with people discussing what is a very, very public website, particularly if they use proper precautions (TOR, throwaway reddit account etc).
As much as it might pain total wankbiscuits like yourself that want to ban people from having discussions that you find inconvenient, most jurisdictions have the concept of freedom of speech, so the act of discussing a site like SR isn't illegal (whereas most of the content on the banned subreddits arguably was).

Finally i have one of these reddit geniuses that i talked about and a vendor no less.
Now how about you answer my question about why you think its a great idea?
I for one would never buy from a "reddit vendor" like yourself.
Im sure some people reading this would be dismayed.

I made an account on there today just to inform them why the site is not operational. I recently got a message from a journalist. They thought I was the site administrator..... lol!
Is it accurate to refer to you as a Silk Road administrator? Or how woud you like to be referred to (I am not naming you at all. Not even your username or anything).

I should have claimed the fame and told them it was the Jews attacking the site.

I don't sell over reddit - people write reviews for me on there and I take part in the discussions on that subreddit using my SR reddit throwaway (and always through TOR naturally).
I don't see why that should be an affront to you or anyone else - this forum is probably more watched by the various governmental agencies trying to shut down the road than the reddit is.
Having a public point of contact that is easy for people to read and find out information about SR is great for business, and great for driving new customers to the site, which ultimately is a good thing for the site and a great thing for vendors like myself.
As for you never buying from vendors who take part in the reddit discussions - good for you, I get more than enough business from people who see the reviews left for me on there to make up for it ::)
-
I'm gonna throw my 2 bits in here.
I think it is still too early in the game to be using anything but SR.
SR does not need any new publicity and it does not need any new customers, at least not at this point. Let it grow organically from within!
We are breaking the law here, selling drugs. What happens when someone new on the streets tries to buy drugs from you? If your smart you don't fuck with them. Similar scenario here!
New does not equal better!
-
Most of the people on that subreddit are low hanging fruit.

Yea I know but the address is still silkroadvb5piz3r.onion.to/ it's just that the http: part isn't there on one. I can't get any to show up just now keeps timing out, so I can't say if any are asking for a pin no. Just thoughur I'd mention it though in case it is a phishing site.

Does nobody fucking notice that he is using onion.to???? Bad news kiddo. Your ISP, the NSA and onion.to can all view the data being sent back and forth, your username and your password when you are using onion.to. I would suggest that you change your password using the correct URL when you have a chance. silkroadvb5piz3r.onion
[–]AlwaysDankruptYUP 1 point 6 minutes ago
It is the same website. It's like typing "www.google.com" - it changes to http://www.google.com
[–]silkysilk 1 point 5 minutes ago
Ha we just said the same thing at the same time
They also encourage the use of igolder.com for PGP encryption.

I should've known there would be a silkroad subreddit. I'll avoid it like the plaque and at the same time try my best to make note of all the vendors who post there (However if they are just posting under a name and don't post their public key you can't know for sure they are not a sock puppet, if they do post a matching public key then they are the dumbest fucking vendors on the planet) Either way it is good to make note of the vendor name and keep it in mind when ordering. If you can't figure out why you shouldn't be posting in clearnet about your business on SR then you shouldn't be vending. I don't know nearly enough about the vulnerabilities of Tor, the exact code of bitcoin or the exact cryptographic mechanics that go into PGP therefore I do not find myself knowledgeable enough to be vending (What is stopping me the most is my ignorance of Tor vulnerabilities, I think I know enough about the coin and PGP to vend)
Seeing vendors being so fucking retarded is depressing. Whenever I have ordered I have always thought to myself (God, I hope this isn't a cop/confidential informant or I hope this vendor deletes my info in case he is busted)
-
/r/silkroad is the bottom of the barrel of SR users. I suspect a large percentage of them have never used the browser bundle. They access SR through clearnet proxies like onion.to and onion.sh, which of course means they post on /r/silkroad with their real IP addresses. The more sophisticated people might use a VPN, which offers little protection if LE really wants to find them. There appears to be very little overlap between the /r/silkroad and forum communities. Occasionally I see people over there reference the forum, but for the most part they seem to not have a clue about the conversations going on over here, or much of anything for that matter.
All that being said, why are you trying to get it shut down? Who gives a fuck what they do. The information is out there on how to be safe, if they choose not to read or follow it, that's their problem.

TOR is safe when used properly. So is posting a bomb threat on reddit while using TOR properly. There are many vendors on there. I don't condone it though, that's why we have this nice forum.

I have seen everything that you said first hand on there. They do know about the forum though. All of them. Majority of the regular users over there just don't like the forum for some reason. I couldn't believe it myself that a lot of them are using .to and posting from their own IP address....

Don't care at all about shutting a subreddit down. People (unfortunately vendors who should know better) are going to be careless there is nothing we can do to stop that. I do however care enough about potential vendors I might use posting there and using the .to tor2web proxy. I could just be being paranoid but I would rather not order from a vendor so careless with their security. At one point they might have one of my addresses and if they are that careless I don't want them having any info that can lead back to me. Keeping a tab on any vendor in the subreddit and then never ordering from them i think is a good way to mitigate this security risk.
Properly using Tor is what I meant. if they are connecting through Tor to reddit then that's fine. I know it is secure when properly used but I also do not vend, so using tbb is fine for me right now. If I ever did start to vend (unlikely) I would run Tails through a partitioned part of my hard-drive through a VM spoofing my MAC address before using Tor. I would do this from a labtop hitting a different wifi spot each time. That might sound like overkill but I would rather be a little paranoid and safe then risk myself or customers.
What I understand now (please correct me if I'm wrong) is that even though my ISP cannot decrypt my traffic they can still tell that I am using Tor(unmasking me is possible through timing attacks if I am correct). There is also a vulnerability with your traffic being peeked from the exit node to it's destination if the person running the exit node chooses to do so. In the beginning of my time on SR I made newbie mistakes by not having certain plug-ins disabled (tor button comes to mind) but also JavaScript, flash, ActiveX etc (I quickly corrected this). Then there is the fact that when you begin using Tor you must obtain the relay list from a directory server, I am guessing this is how your ISP would know you are using Tor.
I am mostly concerned about the exit node vulnerability and the possibility of governments running so many relays out there that they can decrypt traffic (besides just the exit node relay) although I bet you would have to be connected at every point to a compromised relay in order for this to work and it would be easier to do it through the exit relays. Finally Tor is supposed to randomly choose which relays to connect to but in my months of using Tor I've noticed this isn't always the case, it seems to connect me to the same relays making me a little suspicious. It doesn't always connect me to the same relays but often it connects me to the same entrance relay (could really use some explanation for this, what am I missing?).
If I am incorrect or being paranoid about any of this please come in and correct me. I usually do my own research as I see a ton of new people on SR asking so many questions I don't have time to answer the ones I feel proficient enough to answer, but since we are on the topic I thought you guys could help me out.

AND HERE IS THE REASON this site is being attacked .
Some girl OD'd last week on drugs she got from here. I bet anonymous is seeking justice or some bullshit.

I'm not superbly well-versed on anything beyond the fundamentals of how TOR operates, but timing attacks are hard work and can't be used to trace you to one specific location, more like giving a rough geographical location (for example, in the US with a lot of work you might be able to track a server to a specific state) but it's not really something that can be used against a connecting client, more a hidden service server.

I could imagine that it could be a useful gathering place if Silk Road forums or the market went down, but yeah.. it's basically just a bunch of kids and "Silk Road Script Kiddies" as I've begun calling them talking about bitcoins and stamp bags of heroin...
There's a good quote out here that says something along the lines of "it is for the greater good of the herd to have slower and weaker members".
That subreddit and topix are those weak members.
-
no big deal, i say.
anyone who posts anything about silkroad on the clearnet is an idiot, and i'm happy to let them be the cop bait.
everyone knows we're here, and "won't you please think of the children" doesn't really work any more, if it ever did. honestly, i think the more people who hear about SR the better it is for all of us.
fuck those kids...they're probably white and under 18 so they'll get no time and hopefully learn from getting busted by being stupid/sloppy.
-
Must admit having a SR subreddit is just stupid. I have accessed it and i have signed up as a new user and i using with TOR.
But it is filled with kids.

r/silkroad pisses me off for alot of reasons. The main one being I have seen multiple posting of people postign their vendors packaging and one has even included the return address. You have to be a completely different level of fucking stupid to do something like this.
I personally am not a fan of reddit, but a vendor friend of mine pointed it out to me once and I couldnt believe what people were posting there.
But that's besides a point. If you're a vendor and are talking on reddit with a vendor account, you are NOT helping your cause. A Timing attack in itself can help track you. Saying it'll just give a general area is a level of ignorance that honestly baffles me. The goal is to provide LEO with as little information as possible. To have tiny online footprint. To remain invisible. Why even risk a timing attack?!
Sure you probably wont get caught, but you can bet your ass the majority of vendors on SR have a file sitting in a cabinet somewhere. Some have very little info, others may have a ton.
Stay safe.
-
I totally agree the reddit needs to go. Seriously, SR has a enough noobs as it is. Seriously its time to go to invite only.
-
im geting tired of every fuckin kid/ person asking all these dumb questions on clear net forums and that stupid ass site. ive been on ther once and its bull shit. you know that little sayin when grow up dont rat on your dealer. well why the fuck are you rattin out the Road? keep this shit for the people that deserve to be on here. i took me a year to find this place and it was the best day of my life! im young just like the poeple that every one hates on here but i have more common sense i guess. the generation im in has stupid dead beat brains i guess in most of the people. im glad i grew up in a older generation family setting..

The highest rated thing on there is someone describing their controlled delivery in detail.
So I ordered a 10g+ package with MDMA from Silk Road that never arrived. I had ordered multiple packages from SR before, all of whom had arrived with no issues. I live in Scandinavia and ordered international as always. Usually a package would take about one week to arrive from this particular vendor so when it approached two weeks I started getting worried about the package being lost or intercepted. Luckily, I had done my homework thoroughly and was pretty confident that I was not in any legal trouble even in worst case scenario.
One month went without any news regarding the package. Then two months. I figured I had just lost the money and was a bit sad about this fact. This was by far my biggest order and I thought of it as an investement that would last for a LONG time onwards. (I had none intention of selling it, me and my friends just wanted to have a steady supply for the foreseeable future. I'm not sure if I'd be able to convince a jury the same thing though..)
This is not to say I wasn't paranoid. Indeed, I very much was. I did not talk about drugs on the phone ever. I never have, but now I made sure all my friends was painfully aware of this. I'd always played it safe on SR, not keeping any incriminated information on my computer or at my residence. Obviously, I didn't make any new orders either. It is hard to describe how much this fact helped me later on. Even though I only talked to the police - they never searched my computer or my residence, and probably didn't listen in on my phone calls either - knowing this gave me the necessary peace of mind to confidently deny any knowledge of the package.
About the two month mark I received a note by mail from the police, telling me that I was being summoned to come in for questioning in regards to a criminal investigation. No specific information. I was pretty sure it had to do about my missing package, but given how long they must had kept the package without contacting me and that the summoning was so vague that it could be about literally anything made me a bit uncertain nevertheless.
Turns out, it was about the package. They presented me with a photo of the intercepted package and told me it was drugs and that I would have to explain it to them. I told them I didn't know anything about it. I did not try to act surprised or anything, I told myself I couldn't beat them at this game, I just had to deny it and be confident that they had no real evidence. I really wasn't. Mentally, I had gone through everything I've ever done on SR and figured I was pretty safe, but I couldn't be absolutely sure. It was very nerve wrecking to say the least.
The police officer questioning me probably saw this. I tried to avoid eye contact and just looking down to the floor telling him I didn't know anything about it. He pressed me on it, told me which address it was sent from and if I knew the location or if I've been there recently. He asked if I used to order stuff online and what that would be and if I shared the mailbox with anyone.
There weren't to many questions. He told me that if I admitted to the crime early on, it would really make things easier later. When I made a statement denying knowledge about the package, he would write it down and exaggerate the statement tremendously and asked if this was correct (I had to say yes). I knew that if I was later to be found guilty, the police had really cornered me in this interview and in a way forced me to lie as much as possible.
They did also want information about my bank account. I granted them access (they asked for a specific time frame) and thought to myself that if they had some sort of vague evidence, my cooperation could be argued to show that I had nothing to hide. I did this because my bank account had none incriminating information and could only strengthen my defense. If they had any real evidence, they might just test my cooperation and get access nevertheless. Looking back I don't know if this was the right call, but luckily for me it turned out okay. I was let ago after maybe 15-20 minutes.
Again a surprisingly long time passed without hearing any news. I continued to lay low and just doing what I'd normally do. Then I received a new note in the mail telling me the case was dropped because of the state of the evidence. Unfortunately, I have not found a way to make any new orders that I'm comfortable about yet.
I wanted to share this story with the SR communtiy and I'm also proud of the system and of myself for playing it right and not getting caught. I have learned to be more concious about my privacy in other aspects of life and started to protect and encrypt my stuff on the computer just because ever since. Originally I wanted to post this on the official SR forum, but I'm to lazy to overcome the 50 post barrier, so /r/silkroad is a good no. 2. :)
That's my story, I hope it might can be useful for someone out there. Feel free to ask me any questions you might have!

I saw that same post on the forums here, I don't think it mattered where it was discussed, but rather that it was discussed in that kind of detail at all.
That said, the writer may be more intelligent than we take them for and may have made up a few details to change the story a little. We'll never know.

It is the same website. It's like typing "www.google.com" - it changes to http://www.google.com

This is a great reason to not to go there.
They also encourage the use of igolder.com for PGP encryption.

r/silkroad pisses me off for alot of reasons.
Stay safe.
Yes. I no longer have to use my own lips to speak, you guys do it for me. (+K)
im geting tired of every fuckin kid/ person asking all these dumb questions on clear net forums and that stupid ass site. ive been on ther once and its bull shit. you know that little sayin when grow up dont rat on your dealer. well why the fuck are you rattin out the Road? keep this shit for the people that deserve to be on here. i took me a year to find this place and it was the best day of my life! im young just like the poeple that every one hates on here but i have more common sense i guess. the generation im in has stupid dead beat brains i guess in most of the people. im glad i grew up in a older generation family setting..
Yes. If you are on Silk Road, give reddit a miss and watch porn or check hotmail or save the world or something. (+K)

I, personally, think it's good that Silk Road is becoming more and more mainstream not only from an economical viewpoint but from an ideological one as well. A lot of users here seem to think that they somehow have more of a right to be here than newer members or members with lessen computer skills though that isn't the case. The more people that uses and finds out about Silk Road, the more people there are that have a bit more social and economic freedom in their lives which I doubt DPR or any other person with sound moral values would disapprove of.
It's not like, as previous posters have pointed out, Silk Road is a secret to the media or to the governments over the world. There is already high pressure on governments to shut this market down, but so far they haven't been able to and I doubt that reddit is going to change that. What it means is simply more users which will in its turn attract more vendors which leads to a higher level of quality products as well as lower prices. Free market at work simply.

You referring to me SS? I signed up yesterday just to let them know why they can't get on because they kept asking. I've seen vendors advertising on there before...
Damn they have 13,574 subscribers!
... huh? Say what? I referred to nobody and nothing...? And before I'm accused of unforgivable arrogance in assuming SS is always me -- there's nobody else above you that SS makes sense for... you be trippin', y0h :o

I guess there could be different interpretations about what mainstream means. I can't really debate older users vs newer user's rights, what I CAN confirm is that the longer you are here the more tech savvy bust-resistant you tend to become. Oddly enough Silk Road doesn't really need to advertise all over clearnet, and this in my opinion is a big mistake anyway. Whether members become an asset or liability to Silk Road sometimes depends on how they found out about The Road to start with.
I disagree with second par, in the fact that, we don't really need a bunch of children in here from reddit, there are already children here already that need to be reeducated on how to use the site and more ignorance won't help. An example is gatecrashers at a party, yes it is nice they came along, but in reality they go home and take their Tupperware with them. The testimonies I have seen on this thread alone RE reddit is not encouraging in the least. And it is on clearnet which defeats the purpose anyway. Govt.s and LE have not yet been able to shut down SR but that doesn't mean we should give the finger to caution, pull down our pants, and bend over, and spray paint a big "FUCK ME HERE!! >:D " sign on our butts. Sorry but I like language which is really obvious.
But the rest was good. :) Just don't use reddit.

I dunno, I am a veteran of the criminal world and the drug universe. I successfully navigate the underworld for a living, and while i'm no godfather, I have learned a thing or two about breaking the laws of the land.
To most people in my shoes there isn't much room for revolution or weird psychedelic utopias. At the end of the day my job is risk management. Just because SR is no secret does not mean that being brazen or stupid about conducting business on SR is ok. Murder isn't a secret, would you plan your upcoming murder plots on reddit? Would you deal with stupid kids online to bring your plan to sweet fruition? Come on guys.. revolutions take fighting, not allowing mistakes to be made so that you can masturbate about how awesome victory will be.
Anybody who says otherwise is a kid, armchair general, or a future member of either the penal system or worse. Noisy cavalier people come and go, but I tell you one thing.. I don't fucking deal with them.
I may be paranoid, but I have survived busts, robberies, investigations, murder attempts, and all other types o' peril thanks entirely to discretion. Maybe kids on reddit should take a note.

I don't really care how much or how little experience you have with such things: I think you're absolutely right. I also think this is a war that can't be won without it being in the public spotlight though; after all, we are talking about revolutionizing a culture and its views on who qualifies as "worthless scumbags." You can't do that without swaying popular opinion, and popular opinion can't be swayed unless you're in plain sight of the populace to begin with. If they want to be on the front lines, so be it.
... that wasn't quite as lyrical as I wanted it to be, but I guess it'll do, heh.

I figure if reddit was a good thing for SR and DPR he would say so, if it promoted competition on the site and made his site better he would endorse it.
He doesn't because there is an inherent risk and its clearly not worth it.
For one I think clearnet discussion on day to day of SR is bad for all of us, its just a matter of time.
I like hiding behind TOR and feel if the forums had been based on clearnet from the get go SR would never have got this far.
My few times reading on reddit really does make me think its kids (in some cases VERY young) on reddit and it brings the wrong sort of public awareness to the site.

This is exactly how I feel. People keep trying to say "It's not a secret you act like it's a secret society" That's not the point, it's not about how many people know about it, it's about how they're finding out. I mean they even made a topic about SR being down and checking the "is it down" website or something and due to that the SR url is the most searched at that place today. I can't believe people can be so dense that they can't see the difference in talking about it amongst ourselves and then talking about it on a completely open field where certain people just shouldn't be seeing or hearing about it. Then the revealing of extremely compromising details for fuck sake man. ???

Well DPR endorsed /r/silkroad/ as a last result backup lol

After providing HOW many TOR links first?

I agree with that. Although I will venture that not all of the attention that the redditors bring to the cause is good attention... The people most likely to draw the public eye are after all our lowest common denominator. Parents busting their kids hardly counts as good publicity for the cause.
I mean, they are indeed low hanging fruit I guess.. but then you are once more thinking like a drug dealer and not a revolutionary.
Idk, I need some coffee... I also think that my opinions for one have been colored by the recent downtime as well.. As long as my marketplace is running smooth I guess I don't give a damn what our exposure level is.. However the marketplace hasn't been running smooth, so I don't think more sloppy public exposure is a war winning strategy here
Priorities I guess.

Er... is that "you" directed at me? I ask because I'm not a drug dealer... just a drug taker... :) You're right though. Reaffirming negative public opinion is counterproductive; the problem is I can't really say for certain whether the subreddit does more harm than good. I suppose neither would surprise me all that much.

. They access SR through clearnet proxies like onion.to and onion.sh, which of course means they post on /r/silkroad with their real IP addresses
You think that is stupid ? Check out these geniuses who use their personal FACEBOOK ACCOUNTS to ask question such as "omg why can't i log in" or "guis is the site down for everybody or just me" ?

I try not to be an asshole.. Probably only succeed half the time though. I think that goes for a lot of people around here. Drug users can be assholes sometimes.

People can be assholes. Has nothing to do with being a drug user. There are probably has less assholes here then on the average internet forum.
