somthing like bitcoin but its about 1.80$usd per lite coin i was thinking in maybe getting 100 lite coins in hopes they raise in the rate bitcoins have .... =] wats do you people think

sounds like a fake bitcoin that'll catch on for a little and just completley crash. no one will remember what litecoin ever was..

vircurex.com (NOT virwex.com, that's a scam site) and btc-e.com seem to be the main places to get it. You can trade BTC for LTC.

I am actually currently looking into mining them. So far, I do not know how profitable it is going to be.

few nights back I remember checking the exchange rates: were around $0.53*** some decimals an now its $1.80~ in other words seems possible they may rise even more... :P

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't lite coin just more than double in the past two weeks?   Psycadelic stoner said it was like .53.  And now 1.80.   ?!?!!  Holy shit .   So, if you bought like $1000.  You would have more than doubled your money!

I was told it was pretty much pointless to spend time mining BTC.  Is it any different for LTC?   Also plz be patient with me I'm not great with computers but - Is mining just downloading the software, starting it, and then letting it run?

its not pointless if you already have a beastly graphics card or perhaps have invested in mining rig(s)/ asic mining rig.. a key difference between mining litecoins is CPU mining is still possible to earn a payout, except your probably better off purchasing them if you are interested in obtaining them
