Title: Facebook through tor
Post by: iLegalBusinessConsultant on March 20, 2013, 01:34 am
Well, I know that we should never log into a clearnet website with your clearnet username and password through TOR.

What about...via TOR, signing up at a clearnet site. Use this account only when on TOR.

Would this be safe?

What do you mean at a clearnet site? Signing up through open wifi or something?

You could do that, but Facebook gives a lot of shit to accounts that change IP addresses all the time. It triggers their spammer algorithms and your account may end up on various levels of lock down, unable to send messages to others, comment on their status updates, etc., they may require you to phone verify (which you could do with a burner), or they could shut down your account without warning.

yes some clarification.

I meant sign up for an account on facebook or twitter or yahoo.

If you only used this account when you are on TOR, would this be safe?

I've tried this before, it doesn't work.

Facebook detects that you are using Tor and then locks you out of the account within a couple of minutes.
