Maybe thats where I am getting confused. My OS crashed, now win 7. Will exifcleaner work on Win 7?

You can remove all meta/exif data using just windows I believe.

The super simple way to do it is to take a screenshot of the picture.
On Windows, hit PrtSc (print screen), open Paint, click paste, and crop it down to the pic. No 3rd party software needed.
On Linux, install exiv2, which is available for all major distros, then exiv2 rm *.jpg

if your editing on windows, select picture, right click go to properties, details tab, remove properties and personal information. That works, right?

I've been using an image program called FastStone Image Viewer, it's got a handy little function that allows you to select multiple images and "Remove EXIF Data", works great.

I second astor's suggestion above. The linux package exiv2 works very cleanly and easily.

For all you software pirates out there - aka photoshoppers.... there is an easy was in Photoshop should you happen to already have it installed:
Simply go to File->Save for Web & Devices
and make sure that “Metadata” is set to “None”
;D
