Title: have i been compromised
Post by: greenturtle on January 18, 2013, 12:00 am
Hi,

So a new vender sent me a message, he said he accidentaly put a certfied mail sticker on the package instead of a dcn sticker. He said there is a $2 differance in postage and I may not get my package. He wants me to resend my address for a reship.

1. Where is the package with my name and address going to go back to?

2. Should I resend my address, or just say fuck it.

Please advise, thanks.

Same thing. Same vendor.

But I am not paranoid, and is waiting for the new shipment.

Maybe the other one will come also.

1. It will either go back to sender,
or it will come to you with a bill, saying pay xx to pick up.

2. Of course you should.
It took me 5 mins to PGP and send.

DEMAND VENDER NAME TO BEGIN BOYCOTT

DELIVER NOW!

I'm sorry I don't quite understand what you are saying. Can you please be more clear, I really would like some info. I've already decdided and I am not geting a reship, I will ask for a refund of my shipping cost.

I know it may have been a mistake but this cannot happen, maybe it is not that big of a deal, not sure. Not signing for nothing. If it gets delivered with no signature/pick up slip/any other weird shit I will review and I will finalize, it was a free sample for review.

Thanks again for the help,
GT

"Same thing. Same vendor." Bloody hell, these words alone have my alarm bells going off like a firecracker! You don't find the same, simple error occurring on more than one occasion to different buyers, a little puzzling? I've used SR for a long time now, over a year, and have never heard of such a thing from another vendor. Bizarre and alarming IMO.

They can't do that. Certified mail is used for legal documents that must be delivered to the recipient. They can't take the sticker off and stick it in the mail box so the recipient can say, oh, sorry I missed court / didn't pay my taxes / whatever, I never got that letter.

He said he did not put enough postage on it for Certified though, so it may not get here. So just say, "I do not know who this is from, can you return it to the sender?"

Then where does it go, I do know venders dont put there real address on there.

Either way, he had to pay the shipping and it should be on it's way. How could he screw that up? They usually ask you "You mean Certified or Registered?"  You can't just put on a DCN sticker throw postage on it, and toss it in a mailbox. You can't avoid a personal transaction with the clerk at the desk with any of those services.

So he paid $2 more? - His fault, he paid it. - All stickers Registered, Certified, Delivery Confirmation, Signature Confirmation, all have a tracking number and bar code, and can be tracked.

Sounds like he's giving you a snow job. He either lost your address, or mixed something up. - Most likely he's not that great at the whole "Vendor" thing. Maybe a "get high on your own supply guy"

Please "OUT" the Vendor. Tell us the Vendor name! - let him come on here and explain himself!

This is his chance to make it right.

Option 2 - Click on the "Report this vendor" button. - One of the best improvements to the Silk Road IMHO. - I've already killed off 2 scammers with that baby.

He should have a receipt with a tracking number. Why would it not "make it"??

Examples of what USPS Tracking numbers should look like.

Certified Mail™                        -7000 0000 0000 0000 0000
Delivery Confirmation™        -0300 0000 0000 0000 0000

The certified mail costs $2 more in postage than he actually put on the package. Then he meant to slap a DCN on it but he put certified instead, now the package is going to may not make it to me. I am not worried about that, it was a free sample anyway. I just dont want it to get sent back to a random return address and some stranger gets my address and name, and sees what I was getting shipped to me through the mail.

ETA: I sell firearms magazines online and I can slap a Green delivery confirmation on the package. I usually use the due it yourself kiosks at the post office to ship.

I put the package on the scale, choose priority shipping, click "dcn" and pay the extra $75 cents and it prints my postage, then I slap on a DCN sticker and drop it in the mail box. If you have a mail scale and a printer at home you can do it yourself too.

Actually, you can do exactly that as long as the package is under 13oz.  No need to see the clerk.

No vendor should be carrying packages into post offices.  I'm sure some do but that's foolish in my opinion.

Nmac,

My business is completely legal,  :) just wanted to put that out there.

I'm in the same boat..I got a message from him earlier telling me exactly the same thing. I think it was mistake by a newbie vendor. Seems like he packaged our samples and sent them out at the same time and realized what happened after he dropped them off. I'm hoping for this to go smooth, I'd gladly pay the $2 to pick them up at the post office. I also pgp'd my address to him again for the reship...I'm still a little sketched out though

I either want the pack or the bill, I definitely do NOT want it going back to sender because who knows who will end up with it with our names and addresses on it!

I would be to if I was in your shoes.  :-\ You're now the third buyer to raise this issue in this thread today. One mistake is possible, but to make the same mistake for at least three buyers we know of, doesn't make any sense at all. Hope things work out for you but proceed with caution.

I'm not freaking out or anything but I don't know about the other guys....Its an eighth of shrooms. Plus its not like all of us placed orders at different times and he shipped them out different times, we all were chosen to sample the shrooms so I'm sure he packed them and sent them at the same time. Not like random people coming in here and claiming this, we all have the sample thing in common.

The vendor and I have been in comms. He says according to the certified tracking number everything seems to be moving.

Do you think if you pay for priority then put a certified sticker on, they just treat it like priority?

This will be ok, if the package arrives I will accept, but I don't want to go pick it up.

Anyways, I. Will update,

The package will make it to you - I have a friend of a friend who works in the postal service and he says everything eventually gets posted, even if underpaid - whatever has been paid, they will treat it in that class.

For example: if priority cost 3.30 and certified was 5.20 and you paid $4 - then they will treat is as priority.

The package will make it to you, it just might take a little longer.

Also, if someone was to ever visit you about the package (god forbid) you can always play the, I don't know what you are talking about card/what is that? card

Well I have learned something. I moved into the more rural area of the northeast, and they just got an ATM swiper at my Post ofc. - Never saw a self-service kiosk. Sounds great for a vendor.

A few months ago I was mailing some gear to a friend who is not computer literate, so I order for him on here, and I went to the nearest "big city" and that post office had like 12 cameras in it! I was wearing a cap and mirror sunglasses. Felt like the unabomber ...lol

If I ever vend, I'd do it right from the good old local yokel post office. I've been ebaying through there for 10 years. They've seen every size and shape parcel come and go to all different countries.

Then my kid is into all these video games, and has friends in South Korea, and Japan, so he gets stuff from there. I've even been called "Mr International" by one lady who works there...lol

All this over shrooms???-  LMAO !!!!!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

:-[ Sorry, it's just that I've signed for 2gs of Coke, while checking my oil out front, and a cop leaning against my car chatting with my neighbor. - You want to talk "shitting a brick"???

I believe all will be well here. - It was good greeneturtle came on here and discussed it. - I think we all learned something.  ???

Peace

!!!!No worries guys!!!!

I just got my pack and he did have the certified mail sticker on it so I did have to sign for it but no big deal to me. All is good, the product looks nice and was vac sealed and stealth was pretty darn good. Should have no problem getting your packs as I said stealth is good. Can't wait to try them out hopefully this weekend!

I just have Received My product.

So its all good.
The mail paid for the mail.
It was certified, so I had to sign for it.

I had a different mail man today, which I never had before...
I was freaked out, and looking back and forth between the box, and slowly signing the box, looking at the mail man face, freaked the fuck out, The mail was nice, but in million years, have I had a different mail man...
So no worries though, its all good. Just weird coincidence on my part.

So anyways I rip open the box, and its all there. Weight 4.0 grams. So its a bit over.
Can wait to rite a review.
Need to find his review thread.

So it got here, and so I got another package coming for free.
Free 1/8th of shrooms + free 1/8th shrooms.

I am still hopeful, it seems as though it was an honest mistake, thats all. Glad you guys got yours. Now eat em and give me a trip report!!!! ;D

the only reason a vendor should ever go into a post office is to (1) buy old fashioned stamps of needed value, (2) pick up supplies or (3) mail something that has nothing to do with anything illegal.

Those kiosks take cards, not cash.  Post offices generally have cameras.  More reasons as well that I won't go into here.

Nmac,

+1 to you, I agree.

I am in the post office about twice a week, but my buisiness is %100 legit, lol.

Happy ending indeed, I have received my package and it was the usual postman so no worries there. I played it off like, "Hey sweetie, did you order something?", my wife said "I dont know, whos it from?" "Not sure. Whatever, *signature*, thanks, have a good weekend man." is what I said.

Its all good, stealth was good, but Im not sure about hand written labels. Some people say it is a no-go, but I dont see why, I send and recieve packages with hand written addresses all the time. Will be testing tomorrow.
