I would appreciate it if one of the resident experts would point me to the best and easiest to understand thread on using PGP for newbies. I would like something to send my customers to when they say pgp isn't working or is too hard, and I just don't know which one to send them to.

Send them to PGP Club.

thanks

Send 'em to Astor's tutorial page: http://32yehzkk7jflf6r2.onion/gpg4usb/
If they can't follow that, then they shouldn't be on here.

astor's guide is so easy - you'll be encrypting your messages within 15-20 minutes of opening the link.

This is the one I used. Very easy to do.

Sometimes tutorials don't work for everyone. I was caught up at one part of the PGP process, then someone was kind enough to walk me through the part where I was stuck, then BINGO; everything just clicked.
If you need any help at all, the process is still fresh in my mind. I would be happy to help in anyway.

Hello is there anyone that could help a newbie get started? Is their any one with a tutorial composed for mac's? Having a issue with the tutorials because they are in windows. Are their any mac users who can save me???
-
If someone can supply me with a pirated copy of OS X that works in VirtualBox, I could write a tutorial for Mac just easy as the one I have for Windows. :)
Downloading a 6 gigabyte ISO in a safe way might be a bitch, though.

Don't waste your time. Tried that, at least with Snow Leopard, and attempting to use GPGTools just locked up the virtual machine, solid.

I just used the GPG4USB link (drag n dropped the folder in the zip to MyDocuments, untill i can get an encrypted usb)
took about 3 minutes untill i'd encrypted my address with sellers public key
1. make your key, leave the number setting at 2048bit you don't have to include an email, just your username on the road will do
2. copy vendors key, click "import key" and select "clipboard".
3. type message/address/sensitive info in the main window * untitled1.txt
4. on the right side, tick your vendors key and click encrypt button at the top left.
5. select your key on the right, right-click and select "append selected key to text"
(be careful not to append the vendors public key, or they'll message you asking for YOUR public key)
this should be enough to get started.
eventually i'll probably get a linux tor and gpg package for burning on usb from distrowatch.com by searching for privacy.
police at door? reset your pc, pull the dongle out and throw it out the window/destroy it/hide it
