I use the URL from the Wikipedia - it is usually http://silkroadvb5piz3r.onion
But it changed to: http://silkroadv5p5cbl6.onion/
One asks for my PIN. I didn't check the first time but since its kept saying the server is under maintenance.
Fortunately, I don't have any coin on but I suspect many others do?

OK, confirmed .. it was a scam site put up on Wikipedia... My 3 BTC was sent out to an address I will confirm later. There is also a thread here where people are asking why is the site still under maintainance so obviously they've fallen for it too ...

Memorize the URL

Never trust a third party site, especially Wikipedia which is easily vandalized.

You are quite right. Entirely my fault. I use the launch URL as I hate writing / saving things on any of my machines.
Wont be making that mistake again. I've changed my password and pincode so it appears the only issue was a loss of a few BTC but I'm sure others may have suffered. I just checked Wikipedia and found the entry has been removed.

This scam is as old as Silk Road it's self.
Sorry you were scammed but research in the forums is more than worth the time used to look for the correct methods, vendors and history of the site.

LOL I normally look at the "silkroad" component and if that matches, I assume (stupid) that its OK ... my eyesight isn't what it used to be and I can barely read unless I get push the monitor up against my face and all of the numbers and letters are the same heights as the legitimate URL :-[
Well, hopefully not too many people have been caught out by this one but by the looks of the other thread "DAMN SR!!" that isn't the case ...

It takes a few days for shallot to generate an onion domain with the string "silkroad" at the beginning (on commodity hardware). I guess they thought nobody would take the time to replicate it, but obviously it's lucrative enough to do. They need to search the key space for silkroadsilkroad.onion, but that would take millions of years. :)

i wonder how many people they got with that.
