If you have noticed the speed of your TOR browser to be unusable,
I have a solution for you.

OperaTOR is the fastest option IMO for TOR Browsing.

Below is the DL link for OperaTor.  Its great. ENJOY :)

CLEARNET LINK **** : http://www.softpedia.com/get/PORTABLE-SOFTWARE/Internet/Browsers/Windows-Portable-Applications-OperaTor.shtml

Just thought I'd give back to the SR community !

thanks guys for being awesome!

I'll be the first to tell you not to download anything from CNET due to chronic malware. Otherwise, go for it. TY for posting. I think EnterTheMatrix has something to speed up Tor on SR as well.

OTOH, I ran the first URL for OperaTor at http://operator.en.softonic.com through web of trust at http://www.mywot.com and it came back with a bad rep.

Trustworthiness -- 58 -- Unsatisfactory
Vendor reliability -- 70 -- Good
Privacy -- 70 -- Good
Child Safety -- 88 -- Excellent

IDKW, just putting it ^.

ONTH, I ran the first URL for CNET at download.cnet.com through web of trust at http://www.mywot.com and it came back with a good rep, despite the fact that it is even worse.

Trustworthiness -- 88 -- Excellent
Vendor reliability -- 88 -- Excellent
Privacy -- 88 -- Excellent
Child Safety -- 88 -- Excellent

This, despite CNET is a known malware site. Perhaps mywot is a little untrustworthy.

btw, this thread should probably be redacted to Security section of SR forums. And DON'T use softpedia either, for the same reasons!! Dude, you should check this b4 posting lol!

Edit. Now you've modified your reply grrr. I guess the above warning on CNET is now useless, but softpedia is about as bad so don't go there either.

I would be careful about this. The Tor Browser Bundle includes Torbutton, which does a lot of stuff to enhance your security. Click on the onion icon in the TorBrowser toolbar -> Preferences -> Security Settings, and take a look at all that stuff (but don't change any of it).

Does OperaTor do that for the user? I don't know.

I don't get any of the listings like that. I've seen some people charge decent amounts of money on SR for software they downloaded for free on file sharing sites. Why would you pay to speed up Tor? It's not that slow for what you're using it for, sometimes I get like 150KB/s down on Tor and besides is it really that hard to use Google (or your anonymous search engine of choice)?

Clear net isn't 100% safe. Just picture tor as the turtle in the story of the rabbit and the tortoise clear net is the rabbit.

I didn't say Google was anonymous, I was using the word anonymous in reference to alternative search engines.
