November 27, 2012-7.30 Report ABC Australia looking for users of Silk Road
Posted by johnboy @ 5:53 am GMT

I have been contacted by a journalist from the 7.30 Report who is doing a story on Silk Road. They are looking to interview someone who has first hand experience with ordering from that site. They say that they will guarantee anonymity. If you are interested please contact me as soon as possible.

I estimate... 5,000-10,000 new Australian users will join that night? Any other takers ;)?

Drugs have been shipped in the mail since mail was invented, I'm sure they wont mention that nugget.

They probably will guarantee anonymity because you would make them sign a confidentiality clause as well as pay you for your time probably.

How new are you to the Road?

If it was Today Tonight I would say tell them to fuck off but since it's allegedly the 7:30 Report it will be much more balanced you would hope and less sensationalised.

Refer him to me, I won't give him a live interview in person but I will happily give him a conversation over Skype with a voice distortion program running and a V mask on after I've taken the time to talk to him via text first to be sure they're not AFP or something attempting to entrap someone as I already run my computer through other proxies before I even start TOR so even if he was AFP there would be little they can do and they will eventually see the interview anyway one would assume.

It's important at least that if they are going to find someone to interview they actually interview somebody of some intellectual substance, as opposed to some teenage n00b idiot who will embarrass the entire community.

They ought to approach Admin for at least a verbal statement that they will agree to give provided it isn't edited and put it up here publicly beforehand so they can't change or edit shit out.

I completely agree through they say it's a problem but only if idiots like them promote it on television because being the computer savvy group they are, young people who aren't intelligent or experienced enough may make a new account and dupe a vendor, who I;m sure NONE ON HERE would agree with selling to a minor if they knew, into sending them something that without the right knowledge and caution could cause them harm, or at the very least unnecessary panic and God only knows what else.

We would all agree that this is a classic example of why they have to be legalized as a means of really protecting the youth while taking off much off the "coolness" aspect of the whole thing with drugs and at the same time protect purity and so on.

It's really a fucking no brainer and it's sickening that power junkies ruin other peoples lives just for the vote of the majority of the portion of people who actually do bother voting because they think it makes a difference, middle aged to elderly, generally white Christian hypocrites whom the real Jesus would have despised.

EXTREME CAUTION SHOULD BE TAKEN and they should prove themselves with sending you all the relevant documentation and they should pay you for the interview as well as the necessity to employ a legal mediary to assure anonymity is protected, and if they were willing to pay my lawyer a couple of hundred bucks for the paper work, if I were convinced it was the ABC, I would do it.

It's important we, in the words of Van Morrison, take them "from the dark end of the street, to the BRIGHT SIDE OF THE ROAD"

At least get him to message me because as a reporter it's important he hears the truth from articulate and happy people who aren't your stereotypical crackhead that they love to show us so often on the stupid tube and it's only by working together can we defeat this criminal persecution of innocent consumers and businessmen.

No knowledgeable person besides a power hungry Fascist crackpot, would want to continue this senseless victimization that never existed until we allowed it to be implanted into our minds by government parasites of another era, who still for 50 years after banning opium were still making blacks eat in different restaurants and use separate park benches, and to a certain extent we allow ourselves to be victims of these same peoples policies if we don't speak up to make a change when the opportunity arises!

****

I think the population demographics of people who would actually watch that and use drugs or need SR would probably be minimal compared to the Gawker article or when CNN did a story, but all the same they're just making the inevitable end to the drug war happen sooner.

What would they possible do if everyone ordered a bunch of shit online, I MEAN EVERYONE and just kept doing it over and over... throw us all in prison? Or would it be a message sent on the same level of agreement world wide against the policies of institutionalised racism and sexism, but in the Cyber Age of Dr King's "I have A Dream" speech to do with our own freedom of our bodies and minds to do with as we please, where HERE TODAY, WE ALL HAVE A DREAM, TO BE LEFT ALONE AND TO SPREAD HELP AND PARTICIPATION AS MUCH AS WE CAN IN OUR COMMUNITY AND ASSIST PEOPLE WITH ADDICTION PROBLEMS!

That is Silk Road to me!

Oh and sometimes dank nugz too  :P

PEACE AND LOVE - JWM

Dont thin it has aired yet ivegotu.
I dont understand why these media outlets advertise SR. I only found out about SR because 7pm Project did a feature on the site, otherwise I would have never have known about it.
Not complaining though :-)

Apologies, I just realised 7:30 report is an ABC feature ;)

Hopefully the particular user that assists the programme is not a total retard and a true advocate for the Silk Road!

Perhaps having the site and the forums flooded with masses of noob users is precisely the outcome that mr and mrs LE are going for.. We've seen the effects of increased traffic many times over.

I don't know a lot about the back end of TOR and whether it has any capacity limits when it comes to traffic across a single site, but I've no doubt SR and these forums will be the first to find out..

In what way? Because noobs are easy(ier) targets or because it is in the hope that too much traffic will bring down SR?

Either way, I don't think an influx of noobs or otherwise could bring down SR for good.  And even if it could and does...call SR a proof of concept.  Hidden online drug marketplaces are absolutely feasible, and so there will always be someone somewhere providing the service.  Let's just hope DPR 'n 'em can keep this thing going indefinitely.

If there's one thing the war on drugs has taught us since it has started--it's that the war will never be won, drugs will never be defeated.

as much as we want closed registrations or invites only.

the truth is, the more people who are on here, the more money DPR makes...

so its purely just business

Australian media can't get enough of SR. Don't they realize that every time they run an article or segment on the site, they boost usage by Australians?

The media couldn't give a fuck if it boosts usage or not, that's not their agenda. All they care about is selling news and ratings irrespective of what impact that has, good or bad which is a subjective concept anyway. A lot of 'media' types love their drugs the same as the next man so I doubt anyone in the back office is desperately trying to save us poor aussies from the deadly scourge of drugs by broadcasting factual and balanced news stories on the subject. The ABC 'should' be more impartial than the other media giants owned by Murdock and co but last nights broadcast was pretty woeful.

Aussies love their drugs and consume more per capita than many other countries, SR has opened up a more reliable and MUCH cheaper option that scoring from the usual avenues so it will continue to flourish unless the feds find a way of clamping down. Given the technology is pretty much impenetrable they will target the weak links in the chain e.g. those who take stupid risks like ordering large amounts to their home address etc but even then beyond making examples of a few hapless kids they are fighting a losing battle and they know it.

Be smart, learn all you can re encryption and use safe drops to cut the link between you and your shipments and there is pretty much fuck all they can do.
