everytime i try to upload to an onion image hosting site i keep getting this message: you didn't pick a file to upload. any suggestions?

If you're going to enable Javascript, then you might just as well use a clearnet upload service. Personally, I would avoid any service that requires Javascript like the proverbial plague.
One of the things to consider, regardless of which service you use, is: Does the service provide you with a link to delete the image when you're done with it?
Many services don't, so if you screw the pooch, say by uploading an image taken with your camera phone, complete with your GPS coordinates in it, you have no way to delete the image, after you have realized your faux-pas. These are the types of mistakes from which busts are made, like the luser from the LulzSec offshoot, who uploaded a photo of his rather busty girlfriend, complete with GPS coordinates. Nothing like doing the FBI's job for them, is there? (I sincerely doubt he'll be returning home to Australia for many years to come.)
