If you put your SR address in the withdraw field, then the coins should be sent to your SR account. If you left it blank, I can't imagine they would withdraw your coins (to where?). You should get an error.

So what address did you put in the withdraw field? I can't tell from how you wrote that.

I like how they put "anonymous" in quotes every time except the last, but if you go to their web site over clearnet, that would be the only non-anonymous scenario that they mention.

Looks like captchas have been activated! Let's see how this works out.

Don't use clearnet keyservers unless it's over Tor! LE could subpoena the operators to look at the IP addresses that are downloading certain keys. I'm surprised that DPR's key is on there and hope he wasn't the one who posted it.

(BTW, kudos to the mods for adding captchas. I have no problem filling them out if it slows down the spam.)

As of 400 UTC there are 76 blocks to go before the mining reward halves. That should happen in 14 hours, or around 1800 UTC.

Will the price of bitcoins rise because the rate of increase of supply will slow? Maybe. It sounds like a good time to grab some last minute coins.

Either way, break out some champagne or a pill or a line for the first major milestone in bitcoin's history. :)

The temporary solution is to avoid the forum from around 300 to 1000 UTC. That's when the least people are around and the spammer goes wild.

Security / Re: Admins: Make PGP compulsory? (please?)
« on: November 28, 2012, 04:02 am »
People on this forum have suggested making PGP mandatory by providing a test. For example, when you create an SR account, you add your public key to your profile and a code is encrypted to it. In order to activate your account, you have to decrypt the message and enter the code. I think it's a great idea, but it goes against DPR's goal of bringing drugs to the masses. Look into agorism and counter-economics.

GreenGiant, even if they could, someone with the power to do it has to be online. Right now there are 3 admins, 2 mods and 2 spam busters, and hours can go by before one of them logs on. In the mean time, the forums are rendered almost unusable from the pages of spam. If they don't want to delegate spam busting authority to more people, they should work on an automated solution.

This problem could addressed in an automated way by allowing accounts with fewer than 100 posts to only start 1 new thread per hour. The spammer could create lots of new accounts, but at least it would slow him down, and he would get tired of doing it more quickly. Last night he was left to his own devices for over 2 hours and filled every subforum with pages and pages of spam threads. I believe he only quit when he finally got bored or tired.

Technical support / Re: Guide on Bitcoin?
« on: November 27, 2012, 08:21 am »
I simply transfer money from my bank to a firm, and they exhange it for Bitcoins which I can then send to the address here on Silk Road?

Pretty much, although you'll want to either buy the bitcoins anonymously (with fake info) or send them through a mixing-anonymising service.

How to buy them depends on where you live. Bitinstant is one of the more popular methods. You can do a cash deposit at 700K locations around the world and have Bitinstant exchange it for coins which it sends to an address of your choosing.

A lot of people create Instawallet addresses by simply visiting instawallet.org. SAVE the link because it is the only way to access your wallet. Copy down the bitcoin address it gives you, and tell Bitinstant to send the coins to that address. From there you can send the coins to your SR address, or for added security, send them through a mixer like Bitcoin Fog first and then to your SR address.

Silk Road discussion / Re: torwallet a scam?

The best place to go for reviews of bitcoin service providers is bitcointalk.org. Just Googling "torwallet" you'll find a bunch of threads from bitcointalk.org where people were saying they couldn't withdraw their coins from Torwallet.
