Rumor mill / Re: Fuck Eris
« on: December 30, 2012, 07:21 am »
As I wrote in another thread, the reason why he's spamming the forum is because he was one of the people vandalizing the Hidden Wiki, removing all other drug listings except his and his fellow scammers, posting his links multiple times, etc. The Hidden Wiki has been down for days so he's probably losing business.

Shipping / Re: Using a past residents name?
« on: December 30, 2012, 05:46 am »
It's a little dangerous because the previous residents could start getting their mail forwarded at any time. The previous tenant at one place that I lived started doing that 6 months after I moved in. However, it's still safer than getting it sent in your name, like you said, because of plausible deniability.

Silk Road discussion / Re: The SR Gaming Commission

That's like an EBay listing that promises a picture of a cellphone, and costs $100. It delivers everything it promises... that doesn't make it honest. Selling a link to a vendor's profile, really?

There was a guy selling game console boxes on eBay for like $100. People who didn't read the listing carefully thought it was a steal... until they received an empty box. :)

LE wouldn't leave until they got a bust. Not after putting in as much time and effort as Pine did.

Silk Road discussion / Re: SR Commission

I can understand not being able to find it. Quite frankly, the search function on this forum blows. I've used fairly unique search terms and been unable to find specific posts. And if you searched "SR commission" you might be digging for an hour.

You know how shitty the search function is? The commission info is in the State of the Road address. If you search for "State of the Road", that post won't come up. Another (seemingly random) post in that thread does. It's neither the first nor last post, but some random post on page 13 out of 15. WTF.

I think it's been down for days. Try the Cleaned Hidden Wiki

10% of the first $50
8.5% of $50 - 150
6% of $150 - 300
3% of $300 - 500
2% of $500 - 1000
1.5% for everything over $1000

Security / Re: Can't import keys via apg on tablet?
« on: December 30, 2012, 01:40 am »
I have an unused usb stick but I'm not sure if it's going to be enough memory to hold all of tor, pgp, etc. What size do you use? Any good tutorials that you know of to learn how to encrypt the stick itself or at least load all of the info on it?

TrueCrypt is a good option, and actually that will be the next tutorial I write, but I haven't written it yet. :) They have tutorials on their web site, though.

As for the thumb drive size, TBB takes up about 100 MB, and GPG4USB takes up about 20 MB, so any thumb drive of 1 GB or more will be more than enough. If you run the Bitcoin-QT client you would need enough space for the block chain, so at least 8 GB at this point but preferably 32 GB to future proof it. You don't need to run the Bitcoin-QT client though, it's a pain in the ass.

This is a fantastic set of guides that has been buried in the forum, so for my 500th post, I'm bumping it.

+1 for Tails. There are a lot of threads on the forum with people having problems with Liberte.

And if you can fully encrypt your hard drive, definitely do that.

Off topic / Re: what % of the site do you recon is LE
« on: December 30, 2012, 12:36 am »
For sellers who only deal through SR or similar channels, it is difficult to imagine LE being able to build up sufficient evidence to gain major convictions unless they somehow penetrate the website.  I guess it will probably happen some day.

The biggest threat to vendors is the same threat that plagues all real world drug distribution networks. The biggest lie is that LE only works up the chain and isn't interested in anyone down the chain. That's only true at the lowest level, for dealers who sell personal amounts to end clients. But if you're a dealer distributing large quantities and your source gets busted, LE is likely to be interested in you as well. SR vendors need to be aware of and take precautions against these traditional real world threats as well as all the new threats and challenges that come with selling anonymously online.
