I'm not saying it's ALL about the genes either, so we are mostly in agreement. :) We may differ as to the relative contribution of various factors, though.

It's pretty well established that alcoholism and drug addiction tends to run in families. Obviously that's not the only basis for addiction, as TreeSpirit nicely summarized, but it is certainly part of it.

Great minds indeed think alike. :)

And that's an interesting observation about the login, but you may be attributing more to it than it deserves. I tend to be anti-conspiracy theory. The world is more mundane than our imaginations like to admit, and our imaginations run wild in an information vacuum. The de-modding fiasco is a good example. Lots of conspiracy theories, but if nomad's account is true, the explanation is relatively mundane and still makes a lot of sense in light of the circumstances.

In the simplest view, Pine got scared and/or upset with the forum, like a lot of people did in November, and quit, but she came back once to check on her account.

Pine wasn't LE, she wasn't kmfkewm, and she wasn't the girl in her avatar. If you read her -- oeuvre, shall we cal it? -- she would write essay-length posts about certain topics, and used technical jargon which suggests a background in international business and/or international politics. Pine was just a regular person, but clearly very intelligent and self-taught on technology and a variety of subjects, but she also wasn't a technologist or technology expert and occasionally made mistakes that were corrected by Guru, LouisCyphre and others who were actual technologists.
