Title: Product review- buyer stastics information, and some other ideas
Post by: ozzietrader on June 20, 2013, 08:02 pm
Some Vendors are offering fake feedback as a service and fake feedback is definitely a potential problem on some places in the Silk Road. It would be easy to create an account for the purpose of creating fake feedback. While I realize product reviews do not reveal the buyers name, some sort of statistic about the buyer (amount of money spent, an average of other statistics) would be VERY useful so that you can identify that the apparent buyer that has made the review is a buyer with statistics that add credibility to their review. Obviously some new people will buy, but seeing several buyer review where they have good buyer stats would reassure people that the reviews are not fake.

This is just one of many ideas I have, and I am sure the coders here are as busy as hell trying to implement feature requests.

There are many ways some sort of statistics about the reviewer could be shown so as to boost the credibility of the review. I know in some cases there may definitely be problems with fake reviews.

Did I say this? But some Vendors are offering fake reviews as a payed service!

Thankfully for me, I almost never FE, not unless I absolutely trust the buyer and I have bought many times, and only then if the amount I have spent is not too large.

I am a fairly creative thinker, this is just one of many ideas I have had, if anyone encourages me, I have many other ideas to put forward on how to improve things.

For example some markets ie Australia are more expensive than many others due to customs and geographical location, having a country based commission fee would make sense. Thus countries with cheaper products and easier customs and bigger populations could pay a somewhat higher commission on their products, while a country like Australia could receive a commission discount to try and stimulate the market. Stimulating the market overall is going to increase business and increase the amount of commissions and profit. Silk road could still get the same overall commission rate roughly by averaging out the commission over all the countries.

Also everyone seems to use customs. Where is the organized crime? There doesn't seem to be anyone that can offer to get big amounts of goods into Australia while bypassing customs, but we all know in real life that some big time drug importers use specific techniques to sneak goods into Australia. Customs sucks, we need more organized customs avoiding importers!

Please consider a modest reduction on the Silk Road commission for goods in Australia and other higher cost countries! The high cost of some goods is slowing market growth, charge more to countries with dirt cheap goods and large populations where customs don't need to be dealt with much!

Also specific commission discounts could even be offered on specific type of goods where there are a market shortage. In Australia there is a shortage of fairly priced pharmaceutical grade opiates, seriously the prices on her for most opiates like Oxycontin is ridiculous! In one case I figured it would cost me $200 just to get one moderate dose of Oxycodone due to my strong tolerance (even though I am only an intermediate user).

Low commissions could also be offered on goods like Kava and Salvia Divinorum products that as far as I am aware are not even available in Australia yet. But believe me if I have tried both, and if you know how to use them correctly (and using both is an art), Kava gets me more high than opiates and Salvia- at the right dose- is bloody awesome.

The fundamental ideas behind this thread is vendor review credibility and market stimulation!

Nice idea.  At least you explained it well and put a lot of thought into it.
