Title: To our good pirate overlord, it's time to simplify the custom order feature
Post by: snapple on February 20, 2012, 12:47 am
As a vendor, some of my customers don't like the idea that all custom orders are out in the public with the buyers username and can be seen by everyone. It's a privacy issue and the custom order system is bloated and in need of a little streamlining.

If you could put a link right next to the "list an item" that says "create custom order" this would allow us to create a private order based on the buyers SR username so only he can add it to his cart and everything is hidden from prying eyes.

This shouldn't be a big deal coding-wise, and with our new mandate to eliminate OOE, simplifying the custom order process would cut down on OOE scofflaws. I'll admit I've declined a few custom order requests just because of the PITA they currently are.

I hope you consider this option, it would be a winner.

how are custom orders "out in the public" and people can see the username?

The only way that happens is if you put in the username yourself in the custom order.  Just put "custom order for P" or whatever the first letter of their username is, then list it and PM them the link.  the only people who can see that order are you, the customer, and admin...
