Title: Newb question about receiving payment - your help is appreciated
Post by: Smiletabs on November 01, 2011, 01:13 am
Hello everyone,
Sorry about this newbie question. I just had my first order. I have not been paid. I am under the assumption that I will not get paid until the order is received by the buyer when he clicks "finalize order" is that correct? If so how do I know I won't be taken advantage of and not paid at all even though the buyer got his package? Is what I mentioned previously about how the finalize button works correct? Thank you greatly for your time in responding to this message.

You are doing it right... BUT if there is an issue, -hopefully not-, the staff will step in to litigate.

Use a DCN# when you ship so if you have a scammer trying to rip you off, you can give that to SR admin for some ammo.

Thank you both for your information. I will read and understand the sellers guide completely now. I've already sent out a couple of orders too. I appreciate your help I understand now.

There is no perfect solution to this.  We bank a lot on good will from both sides.  Escrow is really what makes this site, and what keeps it strong, but periodically sellers get ignorant buyers who blame sellers for all kinds of crap, or claim package didn't arrive, or don't finalize as soon as package arrives.

Lately, some sellers get around this by requesting that buyers bypass escrow, or finalize early, but that has led to scams, as you can imagine: newbies don't know which sellers are reputable, and go by feedback alone, and put themselves at the mercy of ripoff sellers...lately, with 'lifting escrow' becoming somewhat more acceptable, scammers seem to have increased their presence.

Most of us, buyers and sellers alike, are good people, and want this site to do well...we just need to help each other out, and keep coming up with ways to solve our problems, and protect each other along the way.  A little slack goes a long way on here...
