BM is making it mandatory in their new site overhaul, and I think this is a brilliant move. One more layer of protection.

I dunno about mandatory. Lots of quick stuff does not need to be encoded. Finding a customers PGP among hundreds can be a real pain and down right impossible if PGP name does not match the user name. It slows us way way down and often the PGP message is something like "i am going to buy from you in 2 days or so, just letting you know"
For addresses or private information I highly highly recommend PGP, but I am not a fan of mandatory.

I have been in pretty constant communication with the site admin over at BM and it seems pretty solid. He is vetting all seller accounts personally and is looking for people with reps. He is limiting membership too - before there were about 5000 accounts, since the revamp only 400 and only a handful of seller accounts have made it through.
I'm up over there, although I'm using a different username because I always use a different password and my existing username's password was misplaced. I am known as The Capitalist Pig :)

I still say that place will fall down, and I don't want to be in the way of the rubble when it does.

Solid??? No if enough people yell at him he changes his mind. Look I'm sure there will be a lot of transactions that will go smoothly through BM, but for some of us who have seen many many scammers and CP vendors on there, it will be hard to use the site again. Never say never though.

It never hurts to offer a little competition, have a little backup. I'm going to try a few transactions over there and see what happens.
The PGP feature is really solid, I have to say. You input your PGP public key into a section for your account info, and all messages that are sent to you are auto-encrypted to it. SR could learn from that.....

I just kind of want us spread around more. Like others, I got burnt on BM, and was worried the tolerance of sicko porn would attract heat from anonymous and just bored hackers, so I was glad when he started tightening up his ship...if heat comes here, we all need a fallback, so I don't wish him ill...I think he just jumped in without a lot of knowledge and a lot of us paid the price...we'll see..
